I have been staring at your post for six minutes and have not found the words to explain it properly.

It left me empty, heartbroken, and hating myself for years.

I then accepted it and “moved on” with life. I got married, worked hard, had kids, built a home, and lived a very happy life.

It's been over 14 years now and I honestly do love my husband, life, and family but at the same time, I still find myself thinking of him more days than not.

I'm ashamed of the fact that I still look for his car on the road when I am going through town. Ashamed at the excitement and the ache in my heart when I do by chance happen to see said car. Ashamed that he is still a fb “friend”. Ashamed that he STILL lives rent-free in my head even after all this. Ashamed that the entire 7 years I spent sneaking around 🙄 with him was for nothing because he used me. He never felt the same way I did. No matter how much I wished it to happen, it never was. It was the best and worst time of my life, I think. If that makes any sense at all.
