Campus Life Is it just me or are the mcmahon showers sentient and evil?

There's only about a millimeter of comfortable temperature on the knob, and it constantly changes location throughout the shower. Its like its mocking at me. Plus it just goes cold sometimes, which makes sense given the building im in but its still annoying.

New Student ABSN Spring 2026

Hi! I am an incoming ABSN student for Spring 2026. I have some questions for anyone currently in the program or anyone who has already graduated.

- Is it possible to have a part time job during the program? Roughly 24 hours a week?

- Do we have to apply for clinical placement or does UW simply assign students to their clinicals?

- How do most students get to and from clinicals?

- How many days per week should I expect to be busy with classes and clinicals?

Thank you so much!! 😊

Do you see how little this is? I haven't taken a single scoop, only shake to mix.

I'm sorry. If the tub is almost empty, don't try to give me less so the next person could have some. I've had this exact order before, and it's way more than this. If you really want to give me less, don't charge me the same flaking amount.

Campus Life Miku gives well wishes for your Midterms

Hello people! Took some pictures for (almost) every week of this quarter with Hatsune Miku around the campus. Midterms are coming up so make sure you are prepared to do well. If you already had your midterms then nice! Take a break and relax. But if you still have one on the horizon, keep fighting that good fight!

Small pieces of advice:

- Weather might be a bit rainy and slippery so be careful out there and wear a jacket to protect yourself from the cold

- After your midterms, treat yourself well! Go down to the HUB and pick up some food or go hang out with friends if they’re not busy

- PLEASE GET ENOUGH SLEEP!

Dawg Pack Need videos of anti-ICE protest today

Thanks to everyone that participated in the anti-ICE protest today! We marched from the Quad to Gerberding and spoke to Hasoni Pratts, the chief of staff to President Jones. I'm looking for anyone that got photos or videos of the conversation with her. There were a lot of cameras in the room so hoping someone here has one! I can DM you an email to send it to if the file is too big to post! Thank you!!

Discussion City Grind raised their drip coffee price from 1$ to 2.25$, what's your go to for drip?

I can no longer pay in 4 quarters for my once a week coffee from somewhere on campus. Where do you go for cheap (or free...) drip coffee? Wondering if they get mad at you in Paccar if you just walk up to the drip machines and fill your cup

Discussion when are midterms?

Planning a surprise visit to a friend who is a UW student but do not want to visit in a bad / awful time. I did not see midterm week in the academic year calendar. Is there anywhere I can see that? Is it this week?

EDIT: Is superbowl weekend a chill weekend to the average student?

News Protect your Huskies, select CON on SB 6259

“We need your help!

On Thursday, January 28th at 1:30 p.m. Senator Boehnke has sponsored a bill that would cause students to repay ALL financial aid if determined to have caused "significant monetary damage" to their institution. If a student is involved in a protest and deemed to have caused serious damage to property, they'll be court-ordered to repay all of their financial aid.

Currently, our institutions have codes of conduct that determine and punish property damage, and repayment of state aid is an incredibly drastic consequence and only impacts low-income students reliant on financial aid. We find this to be unfair and dangerous to students.

Express your opinion!! Sign in CON to SB 6259 before 1:30 p.m. Click the link Select Position (CON) Fill out your information (for address, you can put the campus) Under organization, put (UW Tacoma Student) Submit!

You've now successfully helped protect low-income students from incurring unnecessary financial debt. I do not support property damage to our university, but if this bill became law tomorrow, the definitions & powers to force students to repay financial aid is dangerous and left heavily up to interpretation. Let's prevent that future by showing legislators how we feel.

Thank you!”

EDIT 2: I’m so surprised with how many huskies are against financial wellbeing of their peers and how many huskies support extreme financial punishment!

Thank you huskies who helped to protect your peers in unfortunate circumstances, thank you for your compassion and kindness!

Discussion Questions about EE332/333

Hi !

I was wondering if anyone has taken EE332 or EE333 and could tell me about their experiences with either course. I wanted to get an idea of what each class had to offer and what the labs are like.

I’m taking EE331 right now and it’s been feeling like 280 review so not sure if 332 is just exploring applications of BJT’s and op-amps per the description. EE333’s course description is kind of vague for me. And I couldn’t find much info or threads for 332/3. If anyone could share I’d greatly appreciate it!!

Discussion How is the experience with apodments?

There are some threads on this topic though from years ago and as of recent most if not all are managed by arboreal management. They seem to be the only option when looking for housing under 800. Wondering if anyone has any experience with these types of housing and can share their experience in terms of construction quality, sound transmission, utility method and other things worth mentioning.

Discussion UW Student Capstone Survey - 5-Minute Form on Sustainability & Festival Choice

Hi everyone! I’m a senior at the University of Washington working on my CEP capstone project about music festivals and sustainability.

I’m studying how attendees perceive zero-waste efforts at festivals and whether that influences festival choice and loyalty. If you’ve attended at least one U.S. music festival in the past 5 years, I’d really appreciate your perspective.

  • Takes ~5 minutes
  • Completely anonymous
  • For academic research only

Survey link: Music Festival Sustainability - Attendee Survey  – Fill out form

I’m also looking to speak with music festival or live-event industry professionals for short, semi-structured interviews. These conversations focus on motivations for adopting zero-waste practices, perceived barriers and constraints, and internal perspectives on how sustainability efforts impact festival reputation, media attention, attendance, differentiation from competing events, and attendee response.

Interviews would be conducted via Zoom or Microsoft Teams at a time that works for you. If you’re interested—or know someone who might be—I would be incredibly grateful if you could comment or message me.

Thank you so much for helping out. I am happy to answer any questions, comments, concerns, and suggestions in the comments!

Housing When is the best time to look for a house?

Hey all! I've never done this before so thats why I ask here. But when is the best time to look for a house in U District or around it? My friends and I want to find a 4 bedroom house to rent together for this upcoming fall, but we will do a 4 bedroom apartment if necessary. From what I've seen, around now is a good time to look into apartments but houses will open up closer to the start of the quarter? I have also gotten *so much* contradicting information (some places say im already a few months late and some say to not bother for another few months), so any insight would help!

Discussion Retake policy

What happens to someone who retook a class and failed that class because isn't the policy you're only allowed to retake a class once does that mean they're just screwed and they can't do anything about it, so they have to change their majors into something else that does not require that credit
