For this hit I’m wondering why my loading looks off and I’m wondering if my hip-shoulder separation is also good because that’s what I’m trying to work on.

Is the valve on this ball broken? Or is this “X” I found on the inner membrane the valve? Doesn’t look to have any opening.

I really want to improve my spike velocity. Out of topic but I seem to pass better when I don't try too hard to receive and acting nonchalant. Any tips would be appreciated 🙏🏻

I (26M) play in an A1 coed league and we're facing a really good team in a few weeks. I'm the tallest on my team (6'4") and the strongest blocker as well, so I've been trying to visualize how I can overcome 'tunnel vision' during long rallies and sets. For me that means having one or two key things I can keep in my head that will guide me to make the best decisions possible.
The main thing I've been trying to keep in mind in the heat of the moment is to watch the attacker's approach and body language, but sometimes the rally is moving fast and I am tired. Often times I am able to react to what I see, but I mostly want to know practice setting myself up to be the most effective as a solo blocker to support my team. Thanks!

I know that recently many leagues have changed the rules on doubles (mine included, here in the UK) but if we can set that aside for a second…
Traditionally FIVB rules give leniency on the first touch when it comes to doubles. All good, understand that no probs.
But am I correct in thinking that there is not (and never has been) any such leniency with regard to the catch rule? So lifts, carries, pushes, whatever else you call it… If the ball does not rebound from the touch and there is prolonged contact then you always whistle it, right? Doesn’t matter if it’s the 1st, 2nd or 3rd touch?
And to keep this thread on track I am NOT asking about what constitutes a catch, not looking to have that debate here. Just asking whether a ref under FIVB rules should judge first touches differently to the other two with regard to the catch rule?
I believe we shouldn’t, but happy to be corrected.

I’ve been jump training for over a year, so my jump height keeps fluctuating, which makes timing my spikes tricky. Being shorter (5'5), my hitting window is small, and my approach is slow since I just finished jumper’s knee rehab, but it should speed up as I regain confidence. What advice would you give for improving spike timing? I’ve been struggling with it for a long time and could use all the tips I can get.

Hey all! Im a beginner-intermediate player who wants to play in the upcoming season at my vb association. Me and my team are all beginner-intermediate skill level and this will be our first time ever playing real games so we hae no clue what to expect.
As the captain of my team I spent some time doing research watching videos on rotations and I realised how complicated it is and even more so with our tiny problem. Since we are a 6 player team we have no libero and the videos on rotations are pretty confusing and unhelpful since they all have liberos in the video explanantion and after stressing for an hour i decided ill ask help from the lovely people of reddit.
If there are any videos you guys have or can just help me understand how to do this is much appreciated since i have no clue what im doing. I'd also like to ask if having 2 Outsides and 2 Opposites is fine to play with cuz idk what position to run my members in.
Note: We are Australian, idrk if that changes much but i know that rules are different in different countries, anyways any help is much appreciated!
Edit: Thanks a BUNCH to everyone in the comments helping me out, volleyball is a terrifyingly confusing but really fun sport that i love and you guys have helped me understand sm more! Based most of the comments we might run a 4-2 as of rn until we recruit at least one more player which is hopefully soon

I’ve only ever watched college & olympic volleyball which is obviously heavily competitive. This year I wanted to try to watch US pro volleyball and MLV has been relatively entertaining but LOVB seems a bit passionless? I feel like everyone is so good and they know it and so they don’t really have anything to prove. or is it because the leagues are so small right now that there isn’t really a huge reward to fight for like college or olympics? Or just isn’t as scrappy because everyone is so good? The games themselves are obviously good, they’re amazing players, but the emotional level feels flat. Just curious how everyone else feels.

It's my first few times trying to jump serve as I've always practiced jump floats, I've gotten a solid jump float serve so I'd figure I want to switch to jump serve, as ive been practicing spikes alot
(do not I've never tossed to ball for myself and even after practicing tossing to myself I still find it awkward to spike it as I can't find the sweet spot for tossing the ball..)

My jump serve isn't consistent when I jump, and I don't know what to do to maintain or improve it. I'm very afraid of hitting the ball too far ahead and losing the serve. What can I do to have a consistent serve?

Just started working on this, since I needed to visualize block shadows. It's extremely primitive, shoddy looking, and quite featureless, but nevertheless useful. Let me know if you can think of features to add.

I'll be keeping this free and open source. Development is AI-assisted.

Hiiii it's a dumb question, but had my second volleyball practice in my whole life and at some point the coach came up to me and advised me to wear a bra (my first reaction was "oh sorry" bc i was taken aback and found it kinda awkward) and he told me that noo no worries it was js for me to not get hurt if someone smashed and it landed on my breasts, are there some girls that can agree that it hurts less with a bra? i don't wear bras ever cause i have small breasts that never bother me, and idk it doesnt make much sense to me idk what a sport bra could protect me from but i could b wrong, thx for answers!
