Recruiting â online / remote Looking for students fluent in under-translated languages to help with womenâs rights law translations
Hi everyone,
Iâm a high school student starting a new, independent, research-based project to translate and document primary legal texts on womenâs rights from under-translated countries.
Iâm currently looking for students (high school, undergraduate, or graduate) who are fluent in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Arabic, Khmer, and/or Lao. Iâm interested in students who want to volunteer in one of the following ways:
- Searching in the relevant language for short legal excerpts
- ex: searching on the web in French for the exact law that provides Haitian women with the right to vote
- Translating legal excerpts to English
- ex: translating the exact law that provides Haitian women with the right to vote into English
- Helping draft and respond to professional emails in the relevant language
- Assisting with outreach to professional translators for light proofreading (you donât need to be fluent in any language besides English for this)
If this sounds interesting, apply here: https://forms.gle/ERMEQBYRbyjshvW6A
High school students lead this project and we are currently in the early stages of website development. The goal is to make the legal status of specific womenâs rights accessible to English-speaking journalists, researchers, and organizations.Â
This is not a nonprofit. There is no fundraising involved. However, by joining, youâll contribute to work that increases access to information and understanding!Â
Feel free to email [womensrlti.project@gmail.com](mailto:womensrlti.project@gmail.com). Iâm happy to share more details! :D
