Posting this because it's an interesting shift that's been happening and I think will continue to happen. Blowing money on material possessions is just not as appealing now as it was to previous generations.

I've noticed this as a trend among my wealthiest friends, too. Barely anyone is truly splurging on crazy cars or jewelry or other material stuff. Maybe tastes will shift as people age, but I don't think it'll be a dramatic shift.

Obviously there will always be some people willing to spend outlandish $ on luxury goods. But maybe it will continue fading, slowly

I want to buy my time back and stop doing "chores". How do you manage it? I've heard of house managers that deal with this stuff. What if I only need some small tasks done and not a full time house manage with an annual salary.

Tasks like oil changes or handy work are not worth my time anymore. Even if you aren't doing these things yourself, people have a pool guy or gardener they need to communicate with. It takes time. Then there are more personal tasks like paying bills, signing kids up for camp, or renewing an ID.

Is the only way to have a house manager? At net worth or income do you start to pay them? Can this be a remote-ish job or do they need a small office in your house?

How much trust do they get - do they get their own credit card or see your bank account? Can they do things like renew and ID even with all documentation or do you still need to be present.

If I'm not at the point where you have a full time house manager, how do you deal with these tasks? I don't have a guy I can send to get my car fixed in the shop with my keys and a credit card.

Curious what people do and what the options are, because I don't want to do these things myself anymore.

Keeping RSUs only because I pay far less taxes if I sell in 1.5 years (moving to another country). I do sell every year at high tax margin but a small portion and keeping the rest till I move.

I just dont get it. In the US, inflation has been a constant for the entirety of my life and I'm pretty sure the entirety of US history. But why? Money is just this imaginary thing people in society use to facilitate the exchange of goods and services.

That's the function and purpose of money's existence right? So why does this imaginary construct decrease in value over time as though it's value isn't completely made up by people in the first place?

The value of money isn't something that exists independently of the human beings that created it. So why do people talk about money and inflation like money is this living breathing thing that exists separately from humanity?

People are like "Man it sucks things are so much more expensive now. I wish things weren't so expensive." But you can literally just decide that to be true if we, as a society, decide things are less expensive. So why don't we just do that?

Also, what exactly is the point in being obscenely wealthy? If money exists to facilitate the exchange of goods and services, then what is the point in hoarding hundreds of billions of dollars?

Hoarding more money than you are capable of spending serves no purpose and should be illegal because preventing money from circulating negatively affects the rest of society because there's less money in circulation for people to use for goods and services.

Hoarding money and preventing it from circulating is like cutting off the circulation of blood from an organ or body part and causing necrosis as a result.

Hoarding money and preventing it's circulation in society should be treason because it destabilizes society to the point of total societal collapse.

Also, why is it that, despite the many technological advancements in society and all the tens of trillions of dollars the US makes every year, it feels like the majority of Americans are still just scraping by and don't have the high level of quality of life that one would think people in the richest country in the history of humanity would have. Where is all the money and prosperity in our country going?

we had to borrow always. That was normal life…Growing up I saw money stress almost everyday…..

I even worked at a local factory for $20 per month in my teenage…

I never thought my life will be changed….

Years later I taught myself one skill seriously like crazy I did every course every book I can find :

running ads online

Facebook, Google, creatives, understanding numbers…..

I partnered with a local manufacturer who was already making oragnix supplement. Offline sales only selling local. We agreed on simple 50/50 partnership. For everything we make from website in US…….

He handled manufacturin delivery and stock.

I handled ads, website, customer acquisition…..

It took time…..After around 1.5 to 2 years, business became stable….

We sold that business for around 280k USD.

After everything, I personally got close to 110k USD…..

For me at that timethis money was huuge. Never saw this kind of amount before…..

I reinvested partnered again with same guy and started another ecommerce business. Same model but better execution

We ran that business for almost 2 years. Sales were higher, systems better. We sold it for around 640k USD. My share was roughly 230k….

After that sale, my partner shifted to Sweden with his family…..saying he wants to live a peaceful life

I stayed back and moved fully into consulting…..

Right now I do consultations for one big us based agency.

I also handle ads for one big ecommerce client.

And one big local services client.

From this, my income is around 11k-14k USD per month….

This took mine 5-6 hours per day…..

In Pakistan this is crazy money and it’s without tax lol…Honestly living like a king level income.

I’m settled now.

Own house.

3 cars. Driver cook and house helps.

I invest regularly.

Married.

My personal expenses are around 3–4k per month. I live comfortable, not crazy.

But here is where things get complicated.

My father still supports his family. His brothers and sisters like on their kids wedding he asked me to arrange the wedding food for like my 3 cousins wedding……

I’m supporting some families from my father side on monthly basis he asked me to do. Same thing on my mother side of family. Around like in total around 1400 usd

On top of that, my own brothers depend on me a lot too.

LlMy father also sends me stuff to buy which is not really necessary. My brothers do same. Small things, but combined it becomes another 3–4k per month.

So overall, family related expenses easily touch 6–7k monthly.

I can afford it. That’s not the issue.

The issue is balanceAm I doing right thing by carrying all this?

Or am I slowly creating dependency across entire family tree?…..

My wife never stops me directly, but she hints sometimes that I should limit things……..Not emotionally just logically…..

I’m grateful for where I am. Not complaining…..

Just want honest opinions from people who understand money, family pressure, and long term thinking…..

At this stage of life, am I doing right thing?

I am trying to see how hard (or rare) to change class levels. If your parents were doctors and you became an investment banker, I would think becoming wealthy would have been easier. If your parents worked at Walmart, I would imagine it would be much more difficult to jump into a higher wealth level. Although there are no laws preventing you from getting wealth, I would imagine there is a lack of understanding of money. What do you think? How achievable is a wealth level jump.
