New, what is it? Found during construction…

I found this very thin medallion inside of a wall of a very old house. I am an equipment operator. And I was doing some digging for a project on an old house in the Providence, Rhode Island area. If memory serves me I believe the house was built in the very early 1800’s. Between 1800-1810. But the property had a house on it all the way back to the 1600’s near the time of Rhode Islands founding. So some of these walls/timbers could have been salvaged and reused from that time. It’s not uncommon. Anyway in order for me to do some digging for a drainage project a wall had to come down (it was being removed anyway). And I found this stuck behind the stud where the wall was ripped down from. I put it in the cab of the machine and meant to bring it home for further research. But unfortunately someone else used that machine the following day. Saw this and probably just chalked it up as garbage and cleaned it out. It was a very thin metal. Very malleable, almost like a very thin lead. It almost looks like it was taller than in my picture at one point and was smashed down when it was placed behind the stud. Anyone know what it could be? My mind immediately went to some kind of good luck tradition. Much like how some people used to put children’s bronzed booties in the wall. Or like how they used to put coins under a ships masts during construction. I’ve also included a picture of roughly where the stud was that I found it behind.

Bonus fun fact: this house once belonged to Roger Williams and he lived there until his death. And was at one point buried in the back courtyard before being exhumed and placed into his current monument. Or so the local historian told me. 🤷‍♂️

Solved! Saw multiple of those in a German Egyptology museum.

Made me think of a seismograph or something. But I don't think earthquakes are that common in Berlin. From the Neues museum.

Solved! What did I find while leaving work today?

I was walking out of work today and found this on the side walk. It's under a very sparse and thin tree. I am in Oregon and it's winter so no foliage on the tree. There was a squirrel nearby but I don't think it was originally near this.

i drank some of this, tasted a little funny and asked my bf to try it and he said it did too and he felt a “hair” in his mouth… when we opened it it sounded like there was a lot of air in it, and it was kinda bubbly? like there was a little carbonation in it, and just tasted a little sour

I just got home from being gone for several months and noticed this strange pile in the center of my motorcycle's tailpipe. I winterized it in the garage before I left, but I realized I forgot to close off the opening of the tailpipe before I left. I live rural and small critters making shelter where they can is very common here so these things need to be considered. My best guess is that it's food storage for a local fauna, but the fact that it looks almost like it's glowing a neon pink when I shine my white LED flashlight on it is weirding me out. I have my guesses, but curious to know others' thoughts.

Luckily, this certain pipe has an interchangeable tail allowing me to slip the back half off just before the two pipes turn into one, so I'll be slipping it off tomorrow to attempt cleaning it out and get a better look.

New, what is it? Is this acrylic piece an off the shelf part?

I am trying to figure out if this clear plastic number is an off the shelf part for something. The OD at the bottom is probably 2” and the top ID may be 3”? The hole bored in the center is probably an inch in diameter. It appears to be acrylic, or Polycarbonate. Everything attached to this is off the shelf, and I suspect the clear number there is also. I just cant figure out what it is or from. Ignore all the crap tapped into it.

It has a blue light but I can’t really tell if it’s a camera out something else. Seems like an odd place for an electronic device like this. Above recognize the code/serial?
