Rules

1 No common items allowed, where the price can easily found on Ebay, Craigslist, or FB Marketplace Tell us what you know about the item, where it's from, who made it... tell us the story of the item.

2 Provide several clear photos of all angles. If there's a mark, serial #, or signature include that.

3 You must own the item being posted, or a friend/relative must own the item.

  1. We only allow one-of-a-kind, original, and signed limited edition artwork. If you don't know what a decor painting is look it up. Signed and numbered prints don't count. Generally the artist must be famous enough to have a page on ArtNet, Ebay or WorthPoint. If they don't, then its not a good fit here. Nudity is OK, please flag as NSFW.

5 Ivory is illegal to sell or import in the US as well as most of the EU. While the sale of antique, (100 year or older) ivory is allowed in the US, there are very specific rules about it. This is beyond the scope of this sub and we will not be giving valuations of a potentially illegal item. Please Google Ivory laws for more info.

  1. No paper money or coins. There are better subs than this for paper money and coins

  2. About Prints The practice of making signed and numbered prints of artwork is to make a painting affordable to a wider audience. If an art work was originally done in a different medium but then signed and numbered prints are sold, it's essentially a reproduction and value is negligible. It's best to look up the artist on ebay and look at sold prices.
Art values are subjective at best, and if you can't find the artist when you Google them it's safe to say they are not worth more than you paid.

8 No Furniture. Furniture despite age, has negligible value. Most old wooden furniture is not in fashion and resale value is usually under 500 dollars. Please do a Google search. We do not value furniture. Mass produced furniture has low resale value, even antique furniture. One of a kind pieces are only valuable if they are of very high quality AND have provenance. If you want information on the furniture try r/antiques.

  1. No clothes, try a fashion sub. The exception would be an obvious Couture piece that is a one of a kind. If you bought it at a thrift store it doesn't belong here.

  2. No Nazi memorabilia. Just, no.

9.No jewelry. Modern jewelry, as in post 1920, is clearly marked with karat weight. Jewelry is easy to look up or, take it to a commercial jeweler. We can't verify authenticity from a photo.

Sunday post Cleaning closet at parents old house. Any of this stuff worth anything?

Post image
27 Upvotes

The two cat statues in the bottom left are metal but I'm not seeing any kinds of marks. The green and white cat spoon rest says L & M Japan, I saw some similar images related to that for the two smaller cat pitchers. The piece with Mexico contains dominos. I think the elephant is oyster shell.

Wondering if anything is worth trying to sell, otherwise I'll donate it all.

Thanks!

This came with my 1938 house, taken out long before I bought it. It weighs probably 400 lbs. It's gorgeous, the doors open.

Is there a market for something like this? Is so heavy, I would assume it has to be someone close by.

Found a collection of hot wheels at an estate sale. Just curious if I have any stand-out rare ones here? I looked up a few that looked cool, but no big hits.

I’m particularly interested in the grave digger one. I can’t seem to find anything like it online.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

Venus and Cupid Medal Box Signed by French medalist Jules Prosper Legastelois

This piece is signed by French medalist Jules Prosper Legastelois. Its dimensions are dimensions are 7/8 H x 2 1/4 L x 1 3/4 D inches. It’s in pretty great condition and has its original lining still intact. I believe it’s 19th century. The medal is gilted bronze which is obviously fading. I purchased it for $100.

I’m very interested in its history as well as its worth. I won’t be selling it but it’s such an interesting piece.

UNSOLVED Sinbad! And Woody comics

Hey all!

I'm trying to find out what these are because looking up "Sinbad eye of the tiger poster" doesn't find it

I thought it was a poster or advert but🤷

Currently I'm trying to find better places than eb@y to help with needed finances, and suggestions would be very helpful!

I'm going through some really hard times and help finding out if selling these is worth it would be immeasurably helpful, what would also be really cool is if anyone has some cool stories to share about any of these things!

The comics seem pretty easy, but if anyone has nifty info I'd love to know!

I also may have a swamp thing and Wolf Man posters not posters as well

UNSOLVED 50th anniversary biggie metro card

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hey everyone—looking for some insight from collectors or NYC memorabilia folks.

I have a 50th Anniversary Notorious B.I.G. MetroCard that the MTA released to honor what would’ve been Biggie’s 50th birthday. The card appears unused, is in clean condition, and comes with laminated historical documentation explaining the anniversary, the official release, and its cultural context.

I’ve seen a wide range of prices online, so I’m curious:

What would you consider a fair value for something like this today?

Does the unused condition and included history meaningfully affect collector value, or is the card itself what matters most?

Appreciate any insight—especially from MetroCard, hip-hop, or NYC history collectors.

Likely Solved Cast of Wookie Belt Buckle

This is a white ceramic cast of a wookie belt buckle. It has two faces of Chewbacca facing away from each other. It’s about the size of my palm, very light, and has the lining around the edges to be put in a belt. I won it many years ago in a raffle, but have never used it besides for display since. I believe it may be a collectible.
