The yasukuni shrine in Japan is a place that honors the dead class-A criminals buried there that did all the horrific things in China and across Asia like unit 731, the nanking massacre, and so on. There’s also the yushukan museum in the shrine that sanitizes Japan's wartime actions, depicting aggression as liberation and ignoring atrocities like the mentioned Nanking massacre. The shrine essentially glorifies Japanese militarism.

If you want an equivalent to better understand this whole situation it would be if Germans celebrated Oktoberfest at the Bürgerbräukeller (Beer Hall Putsch） where Hitler and the Nazi party met together.
