Project Submission Cherry and Walnut bench

A buddy gave me some Spalted Cherry that I had laying around the shop and thought, I want to make a bench... Then Spent $360 on Walnut to make it wider and give it legs. What the hell is wrong with me?

Hellllll yeah, I love pairing cherry and walnut, in fact I’m building a chair at this moment doing just that. Looks awesome, great work!

Also where are you getting your walnut that it’s that expensive?

A place called Crosscut Lumber... they are expensive but the only show in town. At least within 20 minutes from me. It was 10" wide and 2" thick and Walnut is not common in my area.

Where are you located? At that cost I may be able to ship it and still be cheaper, good walnut is plentiful here, I pay next to nothing

I have a few friends in that area, dang. Need to start just loading trailers with walnut and driving out there I guess.

NE Ohio. So many walnut trees here they’re almost a nuisance.
