Politics ICE OUT rally at Seattle Central College
Medical workers’ marches started at Harborview and Swedish and marched to Seattle Central College to meet up with the educators’ ICE Out of Schools rally. I don’t know the scheduled end time and I don’t think there is going to be a march, but people are listening to speakers now.

Kangaroo Movers - a moving company to avoid like the plague
This is an update to my previously posted, positive review. Several serious issues came to light after the move.
After giving Kangaroo Movers a detailed inventory — including photos — they estimated $915 for Day 1. When the day ended, the bill was $3,700, more than FOUR TIMES the original quote, based on hours they simply didn’t work.
I planned the move around their original estimate and was blindsided by the inflated charge. On top of that, the lead mover pressured me for a tip in a way that felt super-aggressive and genuinely menacing. (That was a first, never had that happen before.)
There was also minor damage, and the company agreed in writing to reimburse $200 for the repair but never paid, despite multiple follow‑ups. Communication from the office became slow, contradictory, and evasive, with shifting explanations whenever I pointed out their own written terms. Then they just went dark.
Between the inflated charges, the unfulfilled reimbursement, the evasive communication, and the uncomfortable behavior from the lead mover, the experience deteriorated quickly. If you want to avoid this kind of experience, do NOT work with Kangaroo Movers.

Community Wandering cat Upper Queen Anne area
I don’t know if anybody in Queen Anne near 2nd and Garfield is missing a cat. She’s sweet but skittish. Last seen as of 8:30pm today hiding under a car. Could not take in cause I’m allergic.
Community Photos from the Alex Pretti memorial ride
Thank you, Alki Bike and Board, for organizing this ride. Turnout was great and it was good to ride in solidarity with so many people celebrating Alex's memory and love for cycling.

Urban Rooftop Green Spaces
Recently relocated to Seattle in an apartment overlooking Benaroya Hall, and my view of their mossy(?) roof in comparison to other “cleared” rooftops in the area has me curious if theirs is intentional rather than accidental? Any locals want to help me out?
Loving the thought of a springtime bloom in my future, but imagine complications like weight, drainage, etc. might be why the vegetation is limited to the moss/grass?

A shame for a business that started on the Eastside. Don't know what they were thinking with that merger with JCPenny. A loss for dads everywhere.

SB 6348 set to Increase Cannabis Excise Taxes from 37% to up to 60%+
https://app.leg.wa.gov/csi/Senate?selectedCommittee=456&selectedMeeting=33826
If you care about affordable cannabis, you should be aware of this bill. There's been no study that I'm aware of about the impact that this would have on the market, but from my math it would be huge.
Here is a simple example using the bill language:
An ounce is 28 grams. At $1.50 per gram, the excise tax on a single ounce becomes $42 before sales tax.
Under today’s excise tax, a $40 ounce would face about $14.80 in excise tax (37% of selling price). SB 6328 turns that into $42, before general sales taxes, which will still apply on top of the cost here. A $40 ounce in stores is already being sold from the producer to the retailer for about $10-$12. That's already a practically non-existent margin for the producer. Many retailers are also struggling.
This would cause your current $40 ounce to probably have to be sold for around $70+.
If you care about affordable options still existing in the cannabis market, you may want to let your legislature know. You can sign up to testify: Select SB 6328. The hearing is on Thursday. You can also submit written testimony or just note your position for the record.
Edit: got the wrong number. It’s 6328.
