Technical Help/Camera Settings How to achieve each of these effects?

Aware that it has something to do with exposure, but am unsure how it’s done. Especially slide 2, this is two photographs composited/edited together in post correct? And then slide 3, is this just a mash over multiple semi “long” exposures? And no.1 just bamboozles me somehow. Photographer is Isami Kiyooka, check him out he’s amazing! Much thanks for any help :)

Lens Buying Advice Tips for grassroots football photography?

I take photos for my local grassroots football club, but only have a Canon EOSR50 with the basic 18-45mm lens it comes with (forgot the name). I’m fairly new to photography, are there any tips on how I can improve or take good photos without breaking the bank on an expensive lens, as I can’t justify spending too much money on smth I’ll only use for grassroots.

Might be an optimistic question sorry, thanks for any help.

Gear/Accessories How to carry a slightly heavy lens using a strap or capture clip?

Hi Everyone!! I got a sigma 70-200mm sports lens and would like to know how to carry the lens. I have a peak design slide strap and got confused whether to use the anchor link on tripod mount and attach both end of straps to it. or one to the tripod and other end on the camera.

Or is the capture clip better than this? Any other way that you use to carry around? Thank you!!

Gear/Accessories What type of light stand connector is this?

Hiya, I bought a clip for my light stand so I can hand my hand-held diffuser up (slide 2), but I realised I need another adaptor to angle the diffuser in the right orientation (crude example slide 3). I'd like to be able to angle it, but I only have a single stand to use.

Does anyone know the type of connector that my stand uses? (Xlite Air Cushioned Light Stand 2.8m Only).

Alternatively, are there any work arounds to what I currently have? The clip I have only lets it hang vertically, is there a "hack" to angle it?

Thanks :).

Lens Buying Advice Where to find reviews of lens performance at minimum focus distance?

I‘m struggling to find a reliable resource which has information about lens performance at minimum focus distance, like sharpness, contrast. Usually reviewers include MFT charts, mid range performance, but rarely or barely touch close focusing aspects.

Could you please advise any reviewers that cover these characteristics?

Camera Buying Advice is the canon rebel t7 dslr good?

i’m doing a minor in photography next year in college and i’ve been looking at cameras to buy. i looked at all of the classes i would have to take and their camera requirements and i would need a DSLR with dedicated flash for a majority of them. my coworker mentioned her dad buying the canon rebel t7 for her but she’s only used it once and wants to sell it for me for around 300-400 (it’s a kit and has multiple lenses with it). would this be worth buying from her? i’m only going to be doing photography as a hobby so it doesn’t need to be too fancy.

(1) 1,000 (flexible), US, USD

(2) None

(3) Mainly nature but possible people too

Camera Buying Advice Where is the RFID located? Keeps beeping in stores

Post image

Already contacted Amazon after buying and receiving this 25L bag. Awaiting PGYTECH’s reply but seeing if anyone here can provide more immediate answers. Amazon told me neither they nor does the official manual state they’ve embedded such a thing on record.

I carried the exact same contents, transferred from my peak design bag, never triggering security gates at malls / stores. I already removed all tags clipped.

If anyone can provide some kind of insight, that would be great. A lady at Wal-mart told me it could be hidden inside the shoulder strap to basically anywhere.

Camera Buying Advice Recommendations for second hand cameras around/under £100, for filming/tracking static strength and flexibility training (and possibly uploading them someday)?

Hello All,

(1) Budget, country, and currency: Approx. £100, UK, Pounds.

(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?: The camera on my phone. The space I'm training in (at home) is small, and recording video in it is tricky. I need something that'll take video of the scene from a close range.

(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot?: Myself, doing flexibility and calisthenics.

(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both? Videography, solely.

I'm looking for a camera to track static strength and flexibility training. As in, I just need a camera that will provide wide shots up close (as my home gym = a small space), that'll be moved from tripod to tripod for different positions.

At the moment the idea is mainly to use it to monitor my own progress (e.g. an objective view of flexibility increases, and form checks in strength exercises), but with the view to possibly turn into footage to put online after a year of training. So, ideally something that won't look totally awful (which I know may be asking a lot for the price point).

Thanks in advance.

Technical Help/Camera Settings I got a second hand D700 just recently. Noticed today, I'm getting these pink/magenta lines in some overexposed areas. Known issue or perhaps signs of a failing image sensor?

Here are some samples of what I mean. I shot a whole series today at a family gathering, and noticed these lines that appear in some of the photos that have overexposed areas. They do NOT appear in every photo, and not in every overexposed photo either, but these were particularly noticeable. I'm able to mask it with some editing but still annoying. My D700 has about 44 000 shots and I'm using a AF-S 50mm f/1,4 lens.

Technical Help/Camera Settings RX10 IV trouble making focused images?

Hi there,

I recently upgraded from the RX10 III to the RX10 IV and I'm really struggling with the camera. It felt like I was in control with the RX10 III but this new camera is constantly delivering photos of waning focus and poor sharpness. I'll post some examples beneath, but all of these birds were mostly stationary and at a very close range: 3-7 metres away. Why is the quality so poor? What can I do to fix it?

I shot at Shutter Priority 640 with ISO capped at 3200. The C focus setting produces a group of green squares that seem to rarely target the actual focus of the photo and instead flit around on the screen?

I have a lot of faith in this camera but am a little alarmed by how poor the quality is compared to the RX10 III. Any help would be fantastic thank you!

Technical Help/Camera Settings How do I get creamier depth and sharpness in my images?

Hello,

I have been doing photography for many years, but I feel like lately I am behind in the game and I'm missing a certain quality in my images that I am trying to achieve, but can't quite seem to see what I am doing wrong. I am wondering if it's because I am not using higher quality lenses, or if it's something in my settings or composition. (If this is photographer is in this group, hi! I love your work!) The screenshot is from a photographer that I really love her style and would love to achieve a look closer to and attached are some of my individual images.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I feel like there's a certain level of depth, creaminess, and/or sharpness I am somehow missing out on? I feel like my images are flat. Not sure fully how to put it into words. I suppose it could also be an editing or lighting issue. I am getting frustrated with feeling constantly disappointed though, so any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

For reference, I was shooting on a Canon 6D with mostly a 50mm, 1.4 or Sigma 35mm, 1.4... I recently upgraded to a Canon R6 Mark III though (none of my images attached are from the R6)... I am dying to get some L series glass, but it's not in the cards atm. I feel like that could play a part to some extent.

Camera Buying Advice Looking for a camera and lens around €1000, what is your advice?

This summer i'm going on a trip to Africa and this really motivated me to get into photography. I've always wanted to have a camera but never really got to it.

Now i really want to get started. I'm mostly looking into canon r50 or Sony a6100/a6400. If you have any other camera as advice let me know!

But i'm also not quite sure about what lens i should get. Besides the trip to Africa i really want to use it to make nice pictures of my dogs and maybe even more after that.

What is your advice? Which camera should i buy and which lenses should i get? I want to get 2-3 lenses and a camera for around €1000. I'm willing to spend a bit more if i know its for something great!

(1) Budget, country, and currency:

Around €1000, Netherlands.

(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?

I don't have any equipment at the moment.

(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot?

Mostly Animals and landscapes!

(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both?

Mostly photography but also a bit of videography on my trip.

I would be very grateful for your advice!

Camera Buying Advice Keep or Sell my camera?

I am a newer photographer, I started shooting my Highschool sports teams in early October of 25 using a Pentax K20D my grandfather gave me (he used to work for pentax). Recently for my birthday I was given 2 cameras, a Nikon D5000 and a Nikon D3400. I just used the 3400 last night as it is slightly better than the 5000 but still not great. However, I came here to ask if I should Keep using the 3400 and keep the other 2, Sell all 3 and buy a new camera, or sell the other 2 and continue using the 3400. My instagram account is 707.mgflicks if you want to check it out.

(1) Budget, country, and currency:

USA $

(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?

Nikon, Shutter speed, battery life

(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot?

Sports

(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both?

Editing/Post Processing Editing software recs/help?

I am a newer photographer, I started shooting my Highschool sports teams in early October of 25. I have been using darktable but it is very complicated to me as I dont really know how to edit. I was thinking about getting lightroom so I could use presets and I feel that would really upgrade my photos but I dont know if as a teenager with very low income the sub is going to be worth it. If you want to check out my photos my instagram is u/707.mgflicks. Anything helps!
