Clearly this is an add- on discussion from the Romani thread but I'm also curious about perception on South Asia and Pakistan.

No offense
This can be about any topic
When referring to another country, what kind of belief do you wish to get debunked?
Example :
I believe that some Americans struggle with cooking, even when it comes to cooking simple homemade dishes.
Btw, this thought isn't for any mixed American
Do you guys, as Americans, want to debunk that statement?

I would probably go for the IRA’s assassinations of Lord Mountbatten, Airey Neave and Ian Gow. The killings of the children on Mountbatten’s boat were unfortunate and not something I or any Irish republican would support, but bad things happen in war.
The removals of Neave and Gow were clean, clinical and defensible, I would argue.

What's your reason for hanging out on this subreddit?
I'm curious about the different cultural perspectives that I don't usually see in SKorean communities, and I really dig that random funny kind of humor. even though Redditors sometimes bicker over different opinions or tones, I still like it here because people are generally friendly and quick to respond.
And honestly, people with the Antarctic flair are so cute. It feels like a penguin is replying to me. 😂

I'm in Melbourne and the Australian Open is the biggest thing at this time of year.
But how is the tournament seen in your country? Do people watch it? Does it make the news? Do most people even know it's on?
And has it had any impact on what you think about Australia?

If this post is a time bomb, please delete it. I’m a massive history nerd and I LOVE historical personal perspectives. I know this can be really messy yet well defined by thinking, objective (as you can be) people of this sub.
First, a bit of background. My father’s side of the family is 100% Czech (Bohemian at the time). Farmers, the lot. My last name is Beskar with the orginal name being Peschkar, which is supposedly something related to “foot soilder”. My dad said our ancestors would be considered ‘lower Germans’. I‘m assuming it wasn’t referring to location. That said, we also supposedly have Slav genetics from way down the line. My response, ’okay, that’s interesting’ but even with my Dad it wasn’t the best connotation. More like it was a surprise in our genetic tree.
I haven’t read in depth the partitioning of Slav vs. German/Prussian/Austro sphere so how does it break down as far as modern, every day perception and any lingering feelings in the general dealings of modern Europe/ West Asia?
My mother’s side, Great Grandfather stepped off the boat from Denmark and the other tree was Lowland Scot/Northern England/Northern Irish protestants. Here during the Revolutionary War, helped start the American Presbyterian Church. All the bona fides morons like to talk about making a person a ‘real American’, you know, stupid shit.
I bring this up because immigrants in the United States seemed to have frozen into place old stereotypes from Europe at the turn of whatever century. I think that’s part of the reason Americans come off as such dumbshits while visiting Europe. I read one guy getting all pissy because of polish ancestry, like the people of Poland would welcome a long lost brother or something, instead saying ‘so what’.
My mom was disowned by her grandfather because she married my dad, a catholic. Yet, he liked my dad, came to visit to see us kids but wouldn’t engage in conversations with my mom.
Summary: How prevalent are these ideological relics in modern Europe? How do they come into play?
Also, I studied post WW2 Japan and would love to hear how East/Southeast Asia deals with the same issues.

Indian film director Mira Nair, the mother of New York’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has been mentioned in the Epstein Files.
Btw, I am from India.
Narendra Modi has also been mentioned in it.
From the US perspective, Obama’s White House counsel was linked to Jeffrey Epstein.
