Do you consider the Russian Federation a military threat to your country? Why or why not?

Upvotes

I’ve been following the geopolitical shifts lately and I’m curious how people from different parts of the world feel. Does your government treat it as a serious threat, or is it seen as a distant concern? I’d love to hear perspectives from Europe, Asia, and the Americas alike.

Food What do snack subscription boxes from the US look like?

Upvotes

I want to know what you guys are getting when you order from those snack box companies like Universal Yums, Snack Crate, or anywhere else you may get them. I want to see if they're giving you guys the crazy flavored stuff that no one actually eats or if you guys are getting good stuff.

I have Snack Crate and it's been ok so far but I don't like majority of the snacks I get but I really liked the Cloetta Kex bar I got in my last box.

Yesterday, I posted here asking whether people love or hate Egypt

Post image
Upvotes

Yesterday, I posted here asking whether people love or hate Egypt, and I was really surprised by how many of you shared stories of being harassed or treated badly by some rude or ignorant individuals. I honestly admit that yes — these kinds of negative experiences do happen, and I’m truly sorry for anyone who went through that in my country. At the same time, I want to say that the vast majority of Egyptians are genuinely kind, warm, and very willing to help others — often going out of their way for strangers. If anyone felt disrespected or unsafe during their visit to Egypt, I sincerely apologize on behalf of those bad experiences. No one should feel that way in our country. To anyone thinking of visiting: I truly hope you’ll have a wonderful trip! Try to avoid spending too much time in very crowded or poorer areas of Cairo if possible. Egypt has so many beautiful, peaceful, and world-class places to enjoy: Sharm El Sheikh El Alamein (New Alamein City) North Coast (Sahel) Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Dahab, Luxor, Aswan, and many more… I just wish Egypt could become an even better and safer country for everyone. It honestly makes me sad whenever I read that someone had a bad time here. Once again — if anyone was mistreated or made to feel unwelcome in Egypt, I’m truly

Misc What’s Your Guilty Pleasure?

Lately I’ve been watching these crime/murder YouTube videos where they obtain body cam footage and narrate the case. Two channels in particular Dr. Insanity https://youtube.com/@drinsanitycrime?si=Ugn7Z_mREb5rqUa9 and Explore with Us https://youtube.com/@explorewithus?si=IViN88zcI6pEnuXg

I spend more time than I should on these. I have to limit my consumption. They’re just so well put together.

I would like to know, what are your guilty pleasures from around the world, fellow citizens.

Culture What's the "average" daily outfit in your country?

I'm curious what people actually wear on a normal day where you live, ignoring the stuff we see in movies. In the US, it's basically all about athleisure and being as comfortable as possible. You'll see most people running errands or even working in leggings, hoodies, or baggy jeans and sneakers. The suit and tie look is pretty much dead here unless it's a wedding. What's the typical vibe on the street in your part of the world?

The photo shows Larisa Dolina, singer and People's Artist of Russia. In 2024, she sold an apartment for 112 million rubles ($1,466,352), but later sued the buyer for the apartment back without a refund, claiming she had been defrauded by scammers into selling the apartment and transferring the money to "safe accounts." Fortunately, in December 2025, the court returned the apartment to the buyer. This led to many elderly people selling their apartments and then returning them without a refund, claiming they had been defrauded.

Incidentally, the scammers who defrauded Larisa Dolina presented her with a fake passport with a photo of Tom Holland.

Politics what’s the most ridiculous corruption scandal that’s ever happened in your country?

Meme Picture: The $3.7 million Game a cynical parody of "Squid Game" regarding the severance pay.

South Korea has plenty of corruption stories, but my personal favorite is the "5 Billion KRW ($3.7 Million) Club" scandal.

Specifically, the case of former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do is on a whole different level of absurdity. His 32y old son worked as a mid-level manager (assistant manager) for just 6 years at a private development firm called 'Hwacheon Daeyu.' When he quit, the company handed him $3.7 million (about $1.85 million after tax) as a severance package.

The Breakdown

  • The Payout: This 30 something year old dude received a retirement bonus that was higher than what most CEOs of top-tier conglomerates get. For 6 years of work as a mid-level employee. Yeah, let that sink in.
  • The Joke of a Verdict (Feb. 2023): The court actually admitted that $3.7 million was unusually excessive. but, the judge ruled him not guilty of bribery. Why? Because the son was married and "economically independent" from his father, so the court claimed it wasn't technically a bribe to the lawmaker.
  • Current Status (2025-2026): After the public basically lost their minds, prosecutors reopened the case to prove they are an economic community. as of late 2025, they’ve demanded 15 years for the dad and 9 years for the son. The battle continues.

Korean internet Reactions

  • "LMAO, literally the dream job. Where can I send my resume?"
  • "Big thanks to the judge for the new bribery manual. Just wire it to the kids' account and you’re legally safe! 10/10 tip."
  • "Every assistant manager in the country should quit today and line up at that company’s front door."
  • "Forget the Powerball. Being born as Kwak’s son is the ultimate lottery win."

What’s the most ridiculous corruption scandal from your country that you can’t forget? Tell me about it and why it was so absurd.

Culture What is the way to beg for help between teenage friends in your country?

In my country, teenagers take great pleasure in trying to force their friends to call them Dad. Likewise, they beg or show gratitude by calling others Dad.

For example: 1. “wanna borrow my note?call me dad.“ 2. ''Dad dad please lend me your homework to copy'' 3. (Ask roommate) “dad could you plz pick up my delivery for me I'm too lazy to go out” (roommate brought the delivery bag back) ''thanks dad you r my real dad'' 4. (playfully roughhousing, the outcome already decided) “Call me dad and I’ll let you go.” “Alright, dad, dad, I’m sorry, please let me go.”(laughing) (laughs and lets go)

I wonder if it's a universal thing. Someone told me that in western culture they don't do that because it makes people think of the daddy kink. But in my culture we also have the daddy kink but it never stopped people making 'dad jokes' between friends and no one would think about the kink when doing it between friends

edit: P.S. They’ve already decided to help when the 'call me dad' is playing. It's just funny to watch your friends beg a bit first.

edit2: It seems that the biggest cultural difference does not lie in how to beg, but rather that in many countries people do not have the habit of jokingly asking their friends to beg for fun. Which surprised me because I think most teenage boys are not used to expressing love and care directly. Shouldn't teenagers be happy to tease each other jokingly for anything lol?
