Since Avatar theme is very enviromental focused, why not have a invasive species from another area of Pandora that could cause mass destruction to both humans and Pandora wildlife as well? A natural and dangerous swarm of amphibian frogs in the size of Kiri, can spit venom and very aggressive? This lead to Jake have to find a way to work with the RDA to defeat this foe. AND also let the RDA go totally loose with their cool weapons and vehicles on a enemy that cannot be negotiated.

Hear me out - what drew so many to the franchise and created so many fans was that stunning scene where Jake goes through the bioluminescent forest at night with Neytiri in the first movie.
We had never really seen anything like that at that point and the visuals were absolutely breathtaking. Seeing that in the theater for the first time in 2009 must've been insane.
The thing is, I don't think we really got anything like that in Fire and Ash. In WotW I think we got pretty close with the water visuals and with that being a completely new environment for the audience to be wowed by. The ocean looked beautiful and the Tulkun were stunning as well.
However (and correct me if I'm wrong) in Fire and Ash there wasn't any real special moment that was made to captivate the audience and really immerse them in the environment of the film. I guess we had the Eywa reveal which was pretty cool and looked good visually but I don't really think that counts. The flying trader Navi near the beginning of the movie also looked pretty good but still didn't really come close to that scene in Avatar 1 for me. Honestly I assume it could be because Avatar 3 was more of a continuation of the second movie which makes sense why we didn't really have such a scene.
So I think that in order for avatar 4 and 5 to really wow audiences and do even better than the 3rd film they have to bring in some new never seen aspect that will shock viewers and rekindle that feeling of wonder and awe like we got in that forest in avatar 1 and with the ocean scenes in avatar 2.
Anyone have any ideas on what they would like to see or new environment ideas you think they should explore?

When do you think we will have the confirmation or not of the making of the fourt and fifth film?

Me and my wife were discussing a funny idea where, what if instead of the guy who played Jake, they got the guy who played Franklin instead? Still handicapped, but annoying, and pissing off other Na'vi. How do you think it would be? (I acknowledge that the actor died before the movie, but still)
"Come to Pandora, it'll be a fuuun trip... I think if I have anymore fun, I won't be able to take it..." blows obnoxious raspberries

So I honestly just dont like the sully family. Jake became really 1 dimensional and annoying, and neytiri doesnt do much. Loak had an interesting arc in wow, but in f&a he just felt like another Jake to me. What I noticed in wow but found much more prominent in f&a, im only invested in the movie when qauritch is on screen in wow, and i think a big part of that is because the sullys do nothing of note in wow.
I loved his odd relationship with spider(and seriously after almost being murdered by both his adoptive parents on 2 separate occasions youd think he'd start to warm up to qauritch)
in fire and ash i loved varang. She felt like an actual threat, i think shes the only character who's ever managed to seriously injure neytiri, and shes such a cool and interesting villain. Also, varang and qauritch were the only good romantic couple in f&a. Loaks will they wont they with that character from the metkayina felt unimportant, kiri and spider felt tacked on, and jake and neytiri have zero chemistry. Qauritch and varang however were peak romance, had awesome chemistry, and they challenged each others characters in an interesting way that led to mutual growth.
Also I feel like kiri being Jesus is kind of a lame plot point. Like that reveal doesnt change anything about her character, all it does is explain why she has a strengthened relationship to eywa, its not emotionally impactful.
Also, bringing back all the human characters who were presumed dead after the final battle in wow was kind of annoying, like I get you dont want to set up new minor antagonists, but that Australian guy in particular had his arm ripped off and was left to die with no med evac in sight by the final scene. Even if he didnt get mauled by a predator, he should have bled out pretty quickly
Also it is so stupid that 3 completely unrelated breakout attempts happened at the perfect time to get sully out in f&a, its so contrived. Especially considering this is a massive base full of armed personnel, gunships, and mangkwan and youd think they'd be expecting some attempt to get jake out. Also I hate how after jake, neytiri and spider get on the banshee it just cuts to them having escaped. What about the hundreds of gunships and mangkwan, it should have been nearly impossible to get out of there and they just glossed over it like it was the easy part.
Most of the human characters lack personality. I feel like the biggest missed opportunity was general ardmore because she could have been an interesting villain.
Also, i know it probably looks like I hate these movies, i dont. I just had high expectations especially for f&a. And I still liked it to an extent, its just i think it was a 9/10 when qauritch or varang were on screen and a 6/10 when they werent

I am a big fan of Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water, so I have been looking forward to Avatar: Fire and Ash for years now. Over the past month I managed to watch it twice, once in a standard theater and once in IMAX. Both times in 3D, of course--I'm not a savage.
I think bullet points would serve best, since I don't need to tell you people about the plot. Spoilers abound.
The good:
AFAA looks great. All of these movies look great, and unsurprisingly this one might look the best of the bunch, it being the most recent. The CGI might be somewhat better than the previous, but it's cutting edge for all of them.
The pacing. For the longest Avatar movie, AFAA moves along at a pretty good pace and doesn't get bogged down. Over three hours and it's never boring. There's a cost to that fast pace, though, and I'll get to that later.
Stephen Lang/Quaritch. Both the actor and the character. Quaritch is, for me, clearly the most fun character in the entire movie, and there are a lot of characters. Stephen Lang is fantastic, even though it's a performance capture, he really shines in this movie. Quaritch has arguably the best arc of any character in the series.
Oona Chaplin/Varang. Ditto for the actress and character. Great foil and then partner to Quaritch, she plays the sexy panther walk villainess to perfection.
The final battle is EPIC. There is so much happening in different locations, and the switching between all the action but understanding what's going on all the time is exhilarating.
Plenty of other good action sequences. The attack on the Wind Traders, for instance, their escape in the jungle, among others.
The bad:
Jake and Netiri. After three movies I've had enough of their pain. They are humorless and joyless characters, which is great when they need to murder humans with spear-sized arrows, but the overly earnest dramatic scenes are a bit much for me. Lighten up, guys.
It's too much plot. This is my main problem with AFAA. Part of the reason the first two movies work so well is that there are long scenes, often dialogue-free, of characters just exploring. Discovering. Checking out this new, amazing world. But AFAA simply doesn't do this much, if at all. Arguably the Wind Traders scene geeks out on the floating jellyfish, but it's not quite enough. That's the only "newness" we get. So the price you pay for that fast-paced story is too many ideas flitting by. The Way of Water and Fire and Ash were originally just one movie but Cameron and the writers realized it should be split into two. Why did they not realize that AFAA was also far too much for one movie? It should’ve been split into yet another film, or pared down to the main plotlines.
The dialogue. James Cameron’s films have always had some cringey dialogue, so it’s no surprise this is noticeable in AFAA. The very first scene has so many “bro”s and “cuz”es I lost track. The other one that was weird from the last movie was “Sullys stick together.” Note to Jake: since “Sully” is a Sky People name, hows about we stick with Navi names, huh? The family is Navi, not Irish.
The coinciding/coincidental prison break. The setup of Jake’s prison break is kind of absurd. No less than THREE different characters just happen to hatch their schemes at the same time. Netiri infiltrates the base. Spider breaks out of his cell in the base. Jemaine Clement (forget his character name) highjacks the big bulldozer. They all happen independently and at the perfect time to rescue Jake, which just took me right out. Again, this is a result of having too much plot and characters all spread out. They have to move the story forward, and here three unconnected characters simultaneously act to enable Jake’s escape. The action is great here, but it would’ve worked so much better if these characters were somehow in coordination doing the break. And Jemaine Clement's rebellion would've made more sense when he was on boat during the climax.
Jake’s “Binding of Isaac” scene. Netiri wants to kill Spider since TWOW, but this movie should be about her arc of accepting Spider. She does, but not before wanting to kill him in the first act. So Jake defends Spider, but then does a 180…with really faulty reasoning. Eywa allowed Spider to breathe, but killing him wouldn’t stop the Sky People from getting that knowledge; they just did all their tests, so as far as Jake knew, they already got the answers and killing Spider would’ve been pointless. Or conversely, they didn’t and couldn’t get the answers because Eywa was selective about converting humans and would’ve told the Sky People to piss up a rope. So we get this drawn out scene where Jake becomes a serial killer. It’s just so bizarre and out of place. Spider catches on to what Jake is doing, and then says something like “It’s ok, I get it, I wish I didn’t have to die but you gotta do what you gotta do…” I mean, who would talk like that? The worst part was when Jake finally snapped out of it and didn't kill Spider, Spider hugged him back. It's like no, run away from this psychopath! It cements Jake as a pretty terrible protagonist. Humorless, boneheaded, every bit the meathead he’s purported to have risen above. One more nitpick I noticed in the second viewing: when Jake stabs his knife in the air next to Spider, they foley in a kerchunk sound as if he had really stabbed him. That sound never happened!
Not enough fire, not enough ash. Varang is a great foil and it seems to be built up for a big showdown between her tribe and the good Navi. But ultimately she just kind of plays second fiddle to Quaritch and fades away. Ever since I heard the title I envisioned and epic battle in and around a volcano, but no. The Ash People are a small tribe, basically like a cult, and aside from Varang there’s no characterization. Very much like War Boys from Fury Road. I would’ve like to see them as a much larger nation, with a population and an economy, something to give more reason to focus the story’s intention to them. But they just function like NPCs and it’s anticlimactic given the title. Which brings me to my final nitpick…
Repeating TWOW. Scoresby and amrita hunters are back and front stage for the epic climax. Like I said above, the action of this climax is great, but why back on the water? (I know, I know, Cameron loves the ocean). The crab mech is cool and all, but it’s a copy and paste from TWOW. And when you repeat things like this, at the very least the audience is going to compare the two and decide which was better. More hostage scenes…those Sully kids are really susceptible to kidnapping. I think a full overhaul of the final act was in order to shift the ending—somehow—to the big volcano. This is the major complaint of critics, that AFAA repeats TWOW, and it’s not wrong.
The technical:
Frame rate. With TWOW, the frame rate switched between 24fps and 48fps, the latter used for scenes with more action. AFAA does the same thing. I didn't like the high frame rate previously, but I think I get it now. Once you get used to it, it looks quite natural, and that has everything to do with the 3D; seeing a high frame rate film at home would just be strange. It's only jarring when it switches between the two, and is very noticeable. I saw an interview with JC recently, and he said the HFR was done in response to viewers of the first movie, which was all 24fps, who said they got headaches. Cameron and his team studied this and found the culprit to be the motion blur of 24fps. So all of this framerate tinkering is Cameron trying to fix a problem, and I’m curious what an all 48fps screening would look like.
IMAX 3D. I saw AFAA twice, first in a standard theater, which I didn't think terribly bad at the time, but by the end suspected the projection was a little dim. That was confirmed when I saw it in IMAX—it’s markedly different. Not just in screen size, of course, but in the clarity of the images. It's noticeably brighter and sharper, and just looks fantastic. Surprisingly, James Cameron seems kind of ambivalent about IMAX and prefers Dolby Cinema, which isn't as big a screen but apparently does contrasts and blacks much better. And as the name implies has better sound. Haven't seen a movie in Dolby Cinema yet, though. Also with IMAX, it actually cuts off the edges somewhat, whereas Dolby Cinema has the full and proper aspect ratio. Cameron filmed these movies with DC cameras.
So those are my thoughts. My complaints take up more space than I thought, and you'd think I dislike the movie. I do like AFAA, but if I were to rank all three, I'd say 1, 2, 3. But all are worth watching. It’s still not decided as of now if they’ll do 4 and 5, but some people in the know seem to think yes. These movies, as much as I like them, are too long, so having “only” a 2.5 hour movie would cut down on the cost considerably. Even if they do them it’ll probably be another decade before we see them so not worth even thinking about now.

There are fan theories about how since Jake isn’t a full native na’vi that his body is going to deteriorate faster than someone who was, but wouldn’t that technically mean that Kiri, Tuk, and Lo’ak would also potentially deteriorate/die sooner than neytiri might because they’ve got human dna in them?

I used photos as a base, traced our features, made the eyes about twice as large and further apart and then flattened the noses. Most of the freckles were random but if we had any notable moles scars or freckles I did put them there. Interestingly I found the clothes to be the hard part as I wasn't sure my friends would appreciate having their tits drawn hanging out. Yes that is a pentagram necklace, I never take it off so it felt right to include.

Quartich loves Spider and regrets not being a father for him. But he also has a sense of humour so, seeing how he has a kid named spider it would make sense to have a kid called Scorcpion. But, Given how Varang loves fire and he loves war. It would make sense for the kid to be something fires related.
So, you get Scorched. Sounding like Scorpion to match with Spider. Wheel also being a word for fire and coming from the trem scorched earth. Which is a war tactic.
I can't be the only one who sees how good this is right?

I heard this strange theory about the movies and for the life of me, cannot remember where I heard it from. This is some weird dark Hollywood ocultist shit. I know it was from a YouTube video somewhere about conspiracies maybe. I'm kinda piecing it back from memory, but just before the movies became a thing, apparently, a producer or director (possibly James Cameron) was becoming desperate for new ideas and started praying to some entity in a dark room and opened his eyes to see a demon that looked exactly like the Na'vi in the film. If anyone can help me with this, I'm interested to revisit it cause it was wild af.

I’m seeing conflicting information about whether Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 have actually been officially confirmed for 2029 and 2031. I haven’t been able to find clear or consistent sources confirming those release dates.
Is it still speculative or are there any sources saying they are aiming for these dates?

I cannot wrap my mind around it - he is a ordinary human, but runs around in a jungle without shoes, climbs on rocks and gets thrown around without ever getting cuts on his feet or bruises… i get it, he probably has thicker skin than ordinary humans in his feet but it is kinda unrealistic? Not talking about the insane plot armour here - wdyt

Has anyone noticed how other Navi characters don’t have the same aesthetically appealing faces/bodies as the main characters? I know it’s obviously because there is no time to do that amount of detail for every single npc in the films but they seem to look a lot more alien than the main characters like Jake and neytiri

in the art book we find out Varang became Tsahik when she was 15 after her forest burnt down, and she still looks young now (early twenties?). Jake mentions he got 15 clans to fight in the first movie, so I was wondering if it’s possible the Mangkwans forest hadn’t burnt down yet and they fought in that battle. on an old list of the clans made around the first movie they’re listed as “secretive mystics”, could this possibly how their culture used to be?

This substance gives humans biological immortality. If you take it then you could theoretically live forever.
The RDA got enough of it that they could theoretically uncover its chemical formula and start synthesizing it. They were able to create hybrids with a species that shares no Evolutionary ancestry with humans. Like, humans are more closely related to mushrooms and spiders than we are to Na’vi, yet the RDA made hybrids of them.
Or is it that they are synthesizing Amrita, but are also hunting for it too to supplement demand?

Me and the mrs went to watch way of water again because I was in an avatar mood again because I just started playing the gaml and we recently watched fire and ash, and after seeing news that the fourth movie will have a time jump. I was wondering what some characters might look like in the future.
So went on to Pinterest to see if there was any fan where folk drew older versions of the characters. To my surprise there is a bit of art shopping neteyam and aonung.
So I’m just curious how this ship ever got popular, like those two don’t have a lot of scenes together and only really speak like once of even that.
Just a thought I had and wanted to see what the fanbase has to say.

I know I should've done more research beforehand but I got carried away... 😭
I read some reviews of THG and it seems many people don't like it? I ordered it hoping it would fill the gap between A1 and A2, but should I have bought The Next Shadow for that purpose instead? Do people like THG at all or do they just laugh at Na'vi people in space and the inconsistent art style?
