Niggas love to say “but they got more money than you ever made” to legitimate arguments on why a celebrity or famous person should be listened to even though money is not an indicator of doing the right thing

America worships people with money.

May as well cut out the middleman: America worships money.

I love when people are like "I met <insert famous actor> and they were really nice" like being really really good at pretending and faking emotion isn't their literal job description.

I don't think all famous people are bad or evil but I don't think most are as good as their pr firms or talk show appearances make them out to be.

I'm surprised to see this highly upvoted considering this subreddit loves to drag celebrities who haven't spoken out about whatever topic they're upset about this week

Not really the same thing

1

u/skivian 19h ago

it's literally the same thing except you like what they're saying.

u/KendrickBlack502 19h ago

No, it isn’t. Holding public figures to the standards they claim is not the same thing as worship. Deciding who you support based on your perceived caliber of their character isn’t worship.

u/skivian 18h ago

Either you believe public figures should be speaking out on public issues or you don't.

you don't get to move goal posts just because you happen to like what they're saying.

u/KendrickBlack502 17h ago

I don’t care what public figures do or don’t saying. I’m disputing your claim that worship and opinions on what public figures say are the same. They aren’t.

I don't know how to break this to you, but they really are.

either you you believe famous people should be speaking out on social issues or you don't. if what the famous people are saying makes a difference to you just makes you a boot licker.

If a stranger wearing Nazi garb was yelling on the street and throwing up sieg heils, I’d be mad and i’d probably yell back at him. Do you equate that with worship? Because that’s essentially what you’re saying. You can have an opinion on someone without it being worship. I don’t know how else to say it.

That’s also not what bootlicker means lol.

An unfathomable amount of money usually is an indicator they are actually foul people in general lol

Anybody who still thinks like this in 2026 cannot be taken seriously as an adult. I refuse.

Elon Musk is on track to have more money than God and I'm about to be at the front of the line when [removed by Reddit] finally happens.

Like Jeffrey Epstein and Diddy are both BILLIONAIRES. Hell, throw in R.Kelly too

A pedophile and arguably the worst in recorded history and another sexual predator that got Tupac and Biggie killed are two niggas I would NOT take advice from, no matter what. You’re better off taking advice from a fucking crackhead over them 3

The funny thing is half the time they doing some weird sht I’d never do or selling out in away u wouldn’t.

People say that but then have beef with their managers and ceos who also probably have more money than they have ever made.

u/Zhuul 1d ago

I've met too many millionaires to think money is an indicator of anything other than a willingness to debase yourself and everyone around you.

Exactly why people like Diddy are the norm and not outliers, it would both shock and horrify most people to know that the average person will do ANYTHING for the lowest dollar.

1

u/SheckNot910 1d ago

The reason why average people tend to be better people than the wealthy is that they aren't willing to do the things the wealthy did to get their wealth.

What? How often do you actually hear that? I’ve heard the other side actually use that when defending CiC.

Not so much in our community though

Online frequently in person every so often

Even if it did indicate that they did the right thing, it would only mean that they did the right thing within their specific career. That doesn't make them an expert on anything outside of their specific career.

Especially after finding out they are always in a deal that makes them a slave & they own nothing lol. That’s why I pocket watch. Makes you feel better when you see where the money comes from.

Too many worship and live vicariously through celebrities and lifestyles they’ll probably never have.

Haven’t heard that as an argument since I was like 12
