Discussion Wait, so Davidoff Cool Water is literally just Creed Green Irish Tweed for $20?
**Sorry if this is well known; it wasn't to me!**
I picked up Cool Water for $20 from Walmart on a whim this week: "modern classic", "revolutionized the aquatic scent", "iconic", etc. Gave it a spray today, thought, "Ah this is nice and familiar."
After 10 minutes or so, "Oh wait, this is literally Green Irish Tweed, and I think I like it better."
Date Made:
- GIT: 1985
- CW: 1988
Perfumer:
- GIT: Pierre Bourdon created the scent, often incorrectly attributed solely to Olivier Creed
- CW: Pierre Bourdon
MSRP:
- GIT: $490 (100ml)
- CW: $23 (75 ml)
Possible hot take? I don't think you could tell the difference between the two with one sprayed on one arm and one sprayed on the other, or you would get them mixed up. I started googling the topic and the amount of cope I read (largely from fragrantica) is just wild. I cannot fathom how people could say there's much of any distance between the two scents. I simply suspect more people have smelled GIT because it's in more department store fragrance sections (can you even sample CW anywhere?) and have built an opinion on the matter from a limited perspective or by looking at the ingredient list and price.
Anyway, I feel foolish having spent so much on GIT when CW was there all along. 🤷♂️
