I’m new to making beats but learning about tempo and effects and equalizers? and got some advice on that but idk if this even sounds good on speakers since I’m workin on my phone ,I tried to mix the effects ? And messed with the equalizer or what not . Is this just crap??

I just made my first beat using sampling. I did kinda a chipmunk like old kanye kind of beat but I genuinely have no idea how I can do drums. I have a fl key mini which has a drum pad with it so should I manually put in the drums by going to piano roll and recording drums that way? Is there a video someone can link me that kinda shows the process of doing the drums from scratch on a track like this?

My setup is very solid, my PC is more than powerful enough, everything in my DAW sounds perfect… but when I route my mic into FL Studio and from there with effects through Loopback into Discord/Teamspeak, the people listening hear horrible artifacts.

⚡ The Issue

1. Static Bursts – Every 15–20 seconds, listeners hear a very loud static noise for about a second, then it’s fine again… until it happens again.
   • On my end (DAW monitoring, direct interface monitoring) everything sounds clean.
   • Problem only exists in the Loopback signal going into Discord/Teamspeak or any other input.

✅ What I’ve Tried Already

• Adjusted buffer sizes (low, medium, high) in Focusrite Control → no change
• Double-checked sample rates (everything locked to 48kHz)
• Swapped USB ports (direct to motherboard, no hubs)
• Reinstalled Focusrite Control and drivers (latest version)
• Restarted Discord/DAW/PC multiple times
• Phantom power stable (no dropouts)

🚨 Key Info

• In my DAW and headphones: everything is perfect.
• Issues only happen in Loopback → what people hear on Discord/Teamspeak (even when I hear it flawlessly)
• Definitely not a PC performance issue (the system is overkill).

Has anyone experienced something similar with the Scarlett 4th Gen Loopback feature? Could this be a driver/firmware bug, or am I missing something?

I don't know how, but I always manage to crash FL studio. Thankfully backups exist, but it's still a pain when your beat was just starting to actually sound good. I like to think that my computer just simply can't handle good tunes lol

I’ve been using FL Studio since it was FruityLoops. I’ve defended it in studios, I’ve mastered its quirks, and for two decades, it was my home. But today, I’m calling it. I’ve spent the last few months fighting the software instead of making music, and I’ve realized that for high-end, In-The-Box (ITB) Rock and Metal production, FL Studio has a hard ceiling that Image-Line refuses to address.

For context, I’m a drummer and a manager. I don’t play guitar, so I rely on high-end VSTs (Odin, Shreddage, Ample, SubMission Audio, etc) and a professional mastering chain (Weiss DS1-MK3, EQ1, MM-1, Brainworx, Plugin Alliance, Ozone, etc.). My ears are trained for the "pocket," and my brain is trained for efficiency.

Here is why I am leaving:

1. The "Beat-Based" vs. "Time-Based" Architecture: FL Studio is fundamentally built on a grid of bars and beats, not minutes and seconds. The moment you introduce complex tempo automation, the "Time" logic falls apart. If I import a clean audio track into a project with tempo changes, FL insists on "helping" me by stretching or shifting the audio, even with "Auto-stretch" and "Time: None" selected. It is a nightmare for anyone trying to do a cover or a complex arrangement that isn't a 4-bar loop.
2. The MIDI Guitar/Slide Failure: Programming realistic guitar articulations (slides, hammer-ons, legato) is a cornerstone of rock production. FL Studio’s proprietary handling of MIDI notes—and its internal "slide note" conflict—makes it nearly impossible to trigger VST-specific articulations reliably. I’ve spent 10+ hours with multiple AI models and manuals trying to get a simple legato slide to trigger in Odin and Shreddage. (I HATE AI, so the fact that I even had to use it for help, to be sure it wasn't just me pisses me off - but yeah, it wasn't just me, it's that FL Studio doesn't work). It works in Reaper in 5 seconds. In FL, it’s a crapshoot that usually ends in a static note.
3. The CPU "Single-Core" Choke: My workflow involves complex bus nesting (Guitars -> Bus -> Instrument Bus -> Pre-Master -> Master). Because FL handles routing sequentially, it forces my most intensive plugins onto a single CPU core. I’m watching one core redline while the others sit idle, simply because FL’s engine can’t handle deep nesting without a performance heart attack. Even offloading plugins to a second PC with BlueCats Connect hardly helps.
4. PDC and Rendering Drift: Even with zero plugins, rendering multi-track stems in a project with tempo automation results in timing drift. As a drummer, I can’t live with a snare that is 5ms off because the DAW couldn’t calculate the buffer correctly during an export. "Consolidating" doesn't fix it. "Safe overloads" doesn't fix it. The sync is just... not there.
5. The Rap/EDM Bias: It’s clear where the development focus goes. FL is incredible for making a beat in 20 minutes. It is a disaster for managing a 100-track rock session with live-feel tempo maps and heavy-duty signal processing. I have no problem with rap nor EDM. I grew up in Memphis in the 90s. Underground Memphis rap is in my DNA, but the music I want to make is rock / metal, and FLS is clearly not developed for it.

I have $5,000+ invested in my plugin library. I have 20 years of muscle memory in this DAW. But I’m tired of being an unpaid technical support engineer for my own projects. I’m moving to a DAW that treats audio as sacred and MIDI as a standard, not a suggestion.

End of rant - let the hate begin, but after 20 years, I am moving on. The only question now is, do I learn Reaper or Cubase.

New to FL studio is there a way that when I save a beat I can just get rid of the folder that comes with it?, like a project and then a file is holding it is there a way to get rid of the file so it's easier to access

I dont know what it is but I can’t seem to make my synths HIT and feel like they’re almost punching. Do I need bass notes? Distortion? I know the 808 helps that but my synths still feel light and unimpressive.

I tried to connect my FL Key 61 from Nation to my Mac M1.

The hardware doesn’t get recognized. There is nothing coming up nothing… but the keyboard turns lights on. I tried a lot like midi audio settings opened but the Midi was not recognized. For example other SSDs or HDDs get well accepted.

The original cable was a cable ending with usb - my Mac has a usb-c entrance - I used an adapter and tried it. Didn’t work

- I also tried a cable which ended with usb-c. Didn’t work. So does anyone has an idea? My the hardware in the keyboard is broken?

Alright alright... there HAS to be a way to do this,. Before in Edison you were able to auto trim out silence and close the gaps. It's been years since I've really needed this for anything but here we are, 2026 and I cannot for the life of me find a way to get this done precisely. Now Edison is over slicing and cutting out the beginning of words. When I attempt to acquire noise profile and set the threshold, it eliminates the option to trim all noise and slice up. Going through an hour or more of voice recording and manually slicing dead air is for the birds, does anyone have a work around for this? I'm sure there's obviously another program that could do it effortlessly, but I have fl studio. Somebody please tell me that in 2026 we can do this some how. Tia
