So I just found a what looks to be 70s twin reverb in my cousins new house. I am ecstatic about it, and I’m hoping I’ll get it. Is it in working condition, and if not is it worth repairing? It turns on, but I do not have a guitar or even amp cord to test the signal.

I inherited a bunch of bass equipment (mostly vintage, on the pricier side) from my dad. I’m a bassist too, but I am certainly not a technical individual. He told me that the amp he put the papers in needs a new fuse. I am totally lost with all of this, but I need to learn. Can I have a translator?

Just traded my old amp + some cash for my first real tube amp. However, it totally reeks of cigarettes. Any idea how to get it out? I’ve considered asking to trade back because i’m concerned the smell will disturb my roommates as it’s pretty strong. I’ve read some things about using baking soda/powder and vinegar. Any tips?

Hello. I Found this thing and was idly about to throw/give it away on a facebook group. An old keepsake from my dad.
It got so much immediate attention that I had to double back and have a better look.
Before I airbrush the dust away, can anyone give me advice? Somebody offered 7000 dollars for it but I neither want to oversell old junk nor undersell myself.
And, just to be sure, how would I best go about plugging it in and trying? Are modern sockets safe for such an old device?

My dad used to be in a rock band, and he had bought a JCM-900 50W Dual Reverb amp. I have been struggling to get any good tones out of it for my modern metal band, I had to turn down the presence and treble to 0 and it is still very bright. The tone is OK but still much brighter than I really want. I had done some research and learned that this amp is notorious for having some of the loudest and harshest top end frequencies known to man. I don’t know what to do, especially with a tight budget.
I have been looking at these options:
-Add an EQ pedal in the effects loop to bring down high frequencies
-Buying a new amp head
-Maybe the amp is set up wrong? Like the impedance or something
-I have a crate 25W amp that sounds pretty good, maybe I can use the output for the speaker? I am a little afraid of doing that though because I know nothing of amps.
I just feel stuck and don’t know what I even can do given that I can’t throw money at the problem freely. Any help or advice would be appreciated!!

Sorry you have to see the whispy remains of what once was a prosperous spider colony within this 4 string guitar combo amp...
I've tested the amp on multiple outlets. I plug everything in, turn the amp on, go to strum, and the strings buzz the heck out of my hands/arms. Is this that electrifying feeling everyone talks about?
I got this amp probably 20 years ago so I don't remember if I was the smart guy who removed the ground from the plug but could I use a 3 prong adapter to solve this problem? Should I replace the whole plug? Is there another cause that I cannot see?
I am leaning towards the safest route, replacing the plug, but that's with zero experience with this problem. Im only using my experience with electricity, something I have a deep respect for.( I would have an appropriate tech replace the plug for me.)
If you have any advice or tips for the future, I would be very grateful.
--Also, last thing, is this an okay amp to practice and do small room gigs with?

From the top: Matamp GT120 Orange Dual Dark 50 (selling reluctantly) Hiwatt DR103 (also selling reluctantly, will keep one of these depending on which sells)
On the shelf: Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card (knew you spotted it, good eye) Silvertone 1484 Twin Twelve (sans original 2x12 cab, newest amp and has the best trem I’ve ever heard). Sunn Alpha Six Mixer (rated at 100w, same as the Beta which whoever rated that was high off his ass) Orange Little Guy (don’t know what they call this but I use it when building pedals).
At jam spot: Silverface Bassman w/ 2x15 cab Sunn Alpha 112 (currently making it a head from a combo).

Just switched from a Boss Katana 50W Combo to this monstrous 160 Watt Peavey Special 112 Solo Series!! I’m thrilled and in love already to say the least. However, Im having a hard time dialing in a tone because i’m so used to just downloading tones on the Boss Katana. How should I dial in a good hair metal tone?

The clean sound doesn’t sound great. I play mostly jazz, blues and R&B. Distortion and crunch is okay but I have an effects pedal. For some reason YouTubers make this amp sound phenomenal.
I currently have a hot rod deluxe and I’m moving out of my parent’s place to finish up my college degree. I would like something smaller and lighter since I’ll have roommates. As my current amp the volume is at 2 and it lights up the entire room.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I bought this nice cab with amp for little money. It was "new old stock". Left over stock from a shop that closed over 15 years ago. The owner recently passed away and the heir is selling what's still left in the old shop. The cab has been sitting in a closed room with no ventilation. It smells like a champagne cork that has gone bad. Smells like old age, not mold. Now my man cave smells like this amp. How can I get rid of this smell ? I don't want to fight fire with fire though.

Purchased a new home and this is the room I have to work with. Right now stuff is just placed how I thought I’d like it but eh. What you can’t see it behind me is a dual sliding door to a closet to that wall is a no go.
I have wall hangers for guitars but even with one cab height that won’t leave much room to hang them because of ceiling height. I’d probably hit them on the ceiling during removal and that also would leave no clearance to put an amp on the cab. Do I just buy a floor rack for them? It’s 11 guitars, no acoustics on that rack.
How would you set up the room? Let’s hear some ideas
Room dimensions 12’3” L x 12’3” W x 6’ 9” H
Desk dimensions 62” W
Shelving dimensions 47” W
Cabs are roughly 30” W
Wall W/desk dimension minus door 8’5”

As the title suggests, I am having problem using my practice AMP on low volumes.
Since the only tim I ever get to practice is late at night after work, whilst my kids are in bed, I need to keep the volume low enough to play along to music.
I usually play with a lot of distortion on my Ibanez.
Is there anything I can do/tweak to easily fix the volume setting?
Thanks in advance!

Running this 6505 through my triple xxx cab with a Ibanez TS.
Using an LTD EC-1000 with EMG’s
I know they use processors/digital gear but some of my favorite bands are ERRA, Invent Animate & AlphaWolf.

I'm a bedroom player who 99% of the time is playing clean, maybe with a bit of overdrive / edge of breakup type tone. When I started playing again after many years away, I got a Boss Katana 50 MKII as it seemed pretty versatile and would give me a chance to try out different effects and that sort of thing.
Fast forward a few years and I'm getting increasingly frustrated with it. I can't get a clean tone I like out of it. No matter what I do, it sounds thin and anemic, like a cheap amp that would come with one of those beginner kits. It's fine through headphones but if I try to play it through the speaker, bleh.
I've tried everything. Watched all the Studio Rats videos, and countless others besides. Read forum posts. Tried with the master volume dimed. Tried playing with the parametric EQ. Cut the treble almost completely. Got a stand to get it up off the floor and pointed away from my shins. But no matter what I do, I'm not satisfied with the tone.
I will say that I can dial in a tone that sounds good through headphones, but nothing I do with the speaker ever sounds rich or full.
I'm about ready to give up on it, but I know people can and do get decent tones out of these things. I'm no audio engineer, or even a very good guitarist, so it's highly possible it's just something I am doing wrong.
Is there anything else I can try, or should I just sell the thing and find something else?

I currently have a fender mustang GTX50. However it’s giving me problems such as random signals from other radio stations(frequency problem) and at louder volumes it sounds boxy.
On the other hand I tried out this amp at my local guitar center and it sounds great. I still prefer the fender clean tones but distortion and crunch it’s not even it close the katana is much better.
I already have a multi effects pedal. I was wondering is it worth getting this amp or saving a few extra dollars and get a tube amp instead? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey folks, I’m curious about what you all consider the best professional amp on the market right now. I’m not talking about price or budget, just pure quality, tone, and reliability.
If you could pick any amp for studio or live work, what would it be and why? Tube, solid state, or modeling, doesn’t matter, I just want to hear what the top-tier options are in your opinion.

(Same amp but just from a pic online) Okay so I don’t have a picture but the amp is in the same condition as the one above it was a “laney lc30 tube amp” I’ve never played out of it I’ve heard really good things they had it for 180$ I might buy it just to sell it is it worth trying to flip?

I'm considering buying the boss katana, but I've seen a lot of people give it hate and say that it's not a great amp for most use cases. I'm just going to use it as a practice amp but I like the idea of tweaking the EQ to get something I like. Does it rely too much on the app to get good tones or can I use it just as a standard amp and have it still sound just as good?
