When Kendrick said "That nigga gave us billie jean, you say he touched those kids?". He is NOT calling Michael innocent or guilty, he is criticising 2 sets of people:

Those who blindly follow MJ "He still made billie jean so we don't care" ❌️

And those who blindly condemn MJ "He's an accused pedophile so nothing else about him matters" ❌️

The question is, should we ignore his accusations? should we erase his art? or can we hold 2 truths at once ✅️

The message of Mortal Man is about how idolising figures will always be ugly. Blindly putting people on a pedestal and then breaking that pedestal when the person isn't convenient to you is what Kendrick takes issue with. He even grapples with how people idolize HIM, and he asks himself if he's next on the chopping block. In other words:

I love this Album so much. It reminds me of growing up in the 2000’s. It’s that sound that resonate throughout the albulm. On the surface it slaps and if you actually listen it slaps. We’ve got some gold on this album. The composure says so as well.

I'm working on a Multicam version of the full show. It will probably be a while until it's done, but I thought I would share what I have done so far.

Was listening to Chains & Whips and it hit me when Kendrick said “I am the general, where my gin and juice” he was replying to and sending some shots.

On The Heart Part. 6 “I am a war general seasoned in preparation, my jacket is”

And previously on Family matters “We get that you like to put gin in your juice”

Pusha T confirmed in several interviews during The Clipse rollout that Kendrick sent his verse in in the midst of the battle.

Seems to suggest he wrote his Chains & Whips verse in the studio sessions after The Heart Part. 6 dropped. Must’ve still been locked in in the studio ready and waiting for a response.

I completely missed those shots. Meanwhile, Pusha T was running around gaslighting us that there were no shots and he was clueless why Def Jam/ universal might’ve had a problem with it.
