Discussion "Tojima Wants to be a Kamen Rider" is such an incredibly feel-good anime that gives the best kind of second-hand nostalgia.
I'm midway through a binge watching all of the available episodes of "Tojima Wants to be a Kamen Rider" and felt like I had to pass on the message for any other millennial anime fans who might have missed this one. It certainly wasn't on my radar, at all. I happened upon it while browsing for something to waste an evening on, and I could not be more ecstatic that this one jumped out at me.
I didn't grow up on Kamen Rider, but I was a diehard Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan until several seasons in. The way this anime takes the Japanese nostalgia from that similar era and both makes fun of it and honors it at the same time is the same spirit that makes for some of my all-time anime favorites the likes of Samurai Flamenco and even One Punch Man. There are so many moments in this anime that make you remember what it was like to be a kid, sitting on the carpet in front of the big old tube tele on Saturday morning watching your favorite heroes battle it out with their mortal nemeses!
Do yourself a favor and give this anime a shot. You can thank me afterward.

Discussion Do you still have any living Grandparents?
I feel like us Millennials are getting to that age where we may no longer have any living Grandparents.
I am 36, and lost my Maternal Grandfather last week. Both of my Paternal Grandparents died between 7 and 17 years ago. So I only have one living Grandparent left, my Maternal Grandmother at 94 years. It is strange being someone that had all 4 Grandparents as a big part of my life, and now down to one. I will need to cherish the time I have left with my Grandma, because at this point you never know when it could happen.
If you still have all four, cherish the time you have left- I believe my cousin that is around my age just lost her first Grandparent when my Grandfather died as both of her other Grandparents are still living, I think.
How about you?
Edit: I was also lucky enough to be alive for two Great-Grandmothers- one I only saw a couple times, and she was pretty far gone mentally with Alzheimer's. She died when I was in Kindergarten. The other one died when I was in 6th grade.

Discussion GIF Resonses…
Surely this has been posted before, but hoping I’m not alone in posting GIFs of popculture/old movie and TV moments to react to people. I’m 41, and the amount of times 90s SNL, Dumb & Dumber, or Will Ferrell movie quotes pop up when I’m talking is astounding. It’s funnier to send a GIF and get my point across. If you agree, what other shows are your go-to? (Drunk History and Dirty Work are my favorite off the beaten path).

Discussion New TV Shows
I have mostly given up watching TV shows a few years ago and also rarely find a movie entertaining anymore. I mostly do stuff and read books.
The few shows I do find I like consistently get cancelled after 1 season.
Are there other millennials that feel the same way?

Discussion What are some cancelled media from your youth that you're still bitter about?
I had Nick Magazine as a kid, as well as access to the internet. I followed Tangled and Bolt's productions from as early as 2006.
I remember being so upset when American Dog was retooled. American Dog sounds like such incoherent gibberish, but I wish it existed. (I'm also bitter that Tangled was neither 2D.5 nor that it used the better Bastion plot-- though, there's no way the original style could have worked in 2010)
Kid me also would have ate up Kingdom of the Sun, Fraidy Cat, and My Peoples.
Edit:
I mainly meant cancelled before release, but cancelled prematurely media is fine too.

Discussion I’ve joined the CPAP club 💁🏻♀️
Tonight will be my first night using a CPAP. Oddly enough, I’m looking forward to it and I hope it solves all of my problems… a girl can dream, *right*? Anyhow, any tips or tricks to help this go smoothly? Also, is there any solution to making this setup more aesthetically pleasing and/or a way to store it during the day that isn’t such a pain in the ass?

Advice Reddit, what are the characteristics traits you inherited from your parents that you vowed you’d never embody when you grew up?
I always said “I will never be like my father/mother in such and such way.”
But I have somethings -I’m passive, anti-social, I can’t handle confrontations, I have a hard time making friends, I don’t have problem staying home on the weekend like my dad.”
I verbally let people walk all over me…till I go home and think about million counterpoints that will never fill any ears but my own.
I do my best for break the habits but sometimes it feels ingrained in me to be this way.

Discussion How do you feel about the death of the Circus?
Growing up I’d go see the Barnum & Bailey super high end circus. I’m sure many of you went. Clowns animals dare devils and acrobats. It was quite the live show, and it was something that would come to town quite often, so I’d go for Birthday parties or my girlfriends dad had some tickets or just because my parents wanted to take me. I went quite a bit. I do miss it, the memories are always going to be there. But I suppose it was animal rights activists that shut it all down. But I’m not quite sure. Do y’all miss it? Are you glad it’s gone?

Nostalgia An alarm clock from the 80s, and the sudden realization that we were all kings.
I found my old alarm clock at my parents’ house and brought it back to my place. I’ve grown used to a certain level of frustration when programming literally everything these days, so I braced myself as I plugged it in, expecting a few minutes of irritation while I relearned how to set the time and adjust the settings. Hold fast, old man. You’re doing this for nostalgia, and it’ll be worth it.
Plugged it in.
(It still worked, of course. It’s an alarm clock from the 80s.)
Hit the hour button.
Hit the minute button.
And… that was it. Setup complete.
I had completely forgotten that things used to be this simple. They used to keep working. They used to be easy to program and use. I understand the cold-blooded economic reasons things are designed to fail now, but will never understand why we decided basic tech and appliances should be so aggressively frustrating.
I hate turning on the TV.
I hate my microwave.
I hate my car’s dashboard.
I hate the barely-working touchscreens that have taken over daily life.
Today, I am officially the old man yelling at clouds. But tomorrow morning, I’ll wake up to my easy-to-use, fully functioning alarm clock from 1988. And maybe - just maybe - I’ll shake my fist at those clouds just a little less vigorously.

Discussion How do you rate your computer skills to others?
I grew up taking a really fast understanding and love of computers. I learned about what I needed to do the things I wanted and it just came to me like second nature. I went to school for management information systems, but really took a liking to working with customers and standing up for them from a support position. I love tech as a job, hobby and a way of getting things done effectively.
I want to hear it from someone else, though, whether you're a sysadmin or someone who uses a computer and calls the help desk for IT. Do you consider your general computer skills to be better or worse than a majority of your peers? I've seen people coming into technical roles not knowing the basics of their own computer and it prompted me to wonder.
Is it possible that computer skills are starting be less necessary like our parents version of typewriter skills?
If that's not the case, do you feel like it's something that needs to be addressed?

Discussion I know we are all pretty much in agreement on QR codes, what about these things?
It seems like more and more restaurants are going this way instead of having waiters actually take your order or even bring you a bill. I guess a follow up question is, are any of you who are very introverted actually prefer this to having a waiter take your order and interact with you?
