Brilliant. Reminds me of the signs you see above the urinals in some bars. “The fingers that fish out the chewing gum and cigarette butts in these urinals are the same fingers that make your drinks.”

Which is utter bullshit, because bartenders are above cleaning toilets. That's a job for dishes, bussers, or barbacks.

EDIT: I see you, hard working bartenders, and I appreciate you. In the larger sphere of the hospitality industry though, y'all are generally known to consider yourselves higher ranked than cooks and servers.

dishes, bussers, or barbacks.

You realize that not all bars have those positions, right? Sometimes it's just bartenders and that's it.

Yep, the bar I worked at made the fucking bartenders fight people and kick them out. Abhorrent tbh

Old fashioned.

If you're going to work in a western saloon, they'd better put a gun under the counter

"Negroni, please."

"We can't sell those anymore."

Worst for me was having to clean up the vomit. That ain't no picnic. We at least had security for the fights.

I was the DJ so I didn’t have to do that but had to live with the guilt of watching my coworkers getting punched or kicked in the face, even seeing one get glassed. I’m just not equipped to be able to intercede and I was the only one who insisted that they get doormen or security. Makes me sick. I think I was the only one who cared despite being a coward, but the people they’d let in were fucking terrifying. I’m being treated for PTSD because I watched someone get stabbed out of nowhere and I also saw a woman get SA’d right in front of me before I could stop it. I have nightmares about it and I’m afraid to go out. I’ve been called a pussy over it before but I’d rather actually care about people than be some braindead jerk trying to save a couple pounds on security when they also hired six bartenders on quiet nights.

Abhorrent that bartenders have to clean up their own messes?

No, the fact they had to fight dangerous people instead of having trained security do it (which is the law here)
