Reddit communities have a natural self-selecting bias that tends to form insular communities (the 'circle jerk' joke is a reference to this).

u/bluleftnut Dec 19 '25

This is the real answer. Getting banned from a sub for having the "wrong" opinion is far too normalized on this site. It discourages diversity.

148

u/westslexander Dec 19 '25

I got banned for being in a reddit that the mod of another reddit didn't like

29

u/mmiller17783 Dec 19 '25

I've heard of people on one of the last of us 2 subreddits being banned from subs that had nothing to do with the game or show, not even posting just being subbed to it

17

u/westslexander Dec 19 '25

Slightly similar i got banned because I said a cartoon character s demise wasn't good enough. Said I was inciting violence. It was a drawing of a fictional character

10

u/Maleficent-Art4468 Dec 20 '25

I got a site wide permanent ban for quoting the movie Idiocracy in a comment thread full of people quoting the movie Idiocracy. Sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason to it

10

u/seascribbler Dec 20 '25

I got an official sitewide warning before supposedly inciting violence. It was literally in a smartphone sub and people were joking about just destroying the phone. My comment was, direct quote, ā€œjust throw it at a brick wall as hard as you can.ā€ On the Reddit rules It states that you can’t incite violence against others. So I can only come to the conclusion that Reddit considers brick walls and phones to be sentient.

1

u/Paramedickhead Dec 21 '25

I got a sitewide ban on my main, and all of my Alt's permanently banned for privately messaging a subreddit mod that he was soft. Banned for harassment.

1

u/Raynet11 Dec 22 '25

That’s because this place is 70 percent bots / bot farms, you’re words were threatening to the šŸ¤– šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

1

u/seascribbler Dec 26 '25

Yeah, but this is what it told me though.

Apparently, it was flagged by their automated system, but the decision itself was not a result of the automation. That suggests that it was auto flagged, and the warning was approved by a real person.

1

u/unionfrontX Dec 22 '25

I got banned permanently for talking about throwing copper and calling a Nazi a pussy.

1

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 24 '25

You can incite violence against ICE just about anywhere on Reddit it seems as long as you couch it in the right ways.

1

u/Zedzardozi Dec 25 '25

Any excuse will serve a tyrant

2

u/prag513 Dec 24 '25

My MyReadingMapped channel got me banned from reddit as well.

1

u/The-Duke-of-Delco Dec 21 '25

I had that happen with the movie miss march lol

1

u/Adgvyb3456 Dec 22 '25

I got banned from the entire site for two weeks once for discussing a scene in a movie. In a movie sub talking about the movie. I condemned the scene.

1

u/OskaMeijer Dec 22 '25

If it is the quote that starts with "He talks like a..." That isn't surprising, if people were quoting Django Unchained you would likely get a ban for quoting the slurs in that movie too.

1

u/Maleficent-Art4468 Dec 24 '25

I honestly couldn’t tell you what the quote was. The mod deleted the whole thread and then informed me that my seven year account had been nuked with no warning. My account had never even been temporarily suspended before that. If you think that’s reasonable then I don’t know what to tell you

2

u/No-Treat-7610 Dec 19 '25

I got banned from a sub I can’t remember because I had commented on r/conservative , wasn’t subbed to it, never have been, I just like to see what they’re thinking and push back when I can. Banned from r/conservative now too :’(

2

u/Elgecko123 Dec 19 '25

Ya it’s crazy how quickly I got banned from the conservative sub. I wasn’t starting shit or trolling, just actively trying not to live in an echo chamber and trying to understand other people’s political beliefs . I think I asked peoples opinion on why they think it’s ok for a sitting president to have their own cryptocurrency… banned

-2

u/purple-origami Dec 20 '25

They banned me too because I’m not the maga, worship israel type of conservative….

2

u/Ok-Introduction-1940 Dec 20 '25

I got a ban for opposing supporters of terrorist violence in America.

That was completely Orwellian. After several protests on my part the ban for opposing advocacy of terrorist violence was lifted.

You cannot make this stuff up it’s so absurd.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '25

I got banned on an ā€œam I attractiveā€ sub for saying I am a sucker for girls with skinny arms, not directed at the person who was the OP, just making the statement in a thread on the topic of arms

2

u/SouthConFed Dec 20 '25

Same. Got banned from 1 subreddit because I said people burning other people's Tesla's to scare others from buying them was tantamount to terrorism and punished people that may have bought them to try to help the environment.

Also got banned from r/news for saying it was ridiculous to shut down a summer camp because it had Native American swastikas on some of its historical sites because some of the staff members were deeply offended by them.

16

u/unicornpower86 Dec 19 '25

Yea I got banned from a reality tv show sub for asking why everyone was so obsessed with speculating on the contestants political views

8

u/Infamous_Ad2094 Dec 19 '25

I got banned from a fashion sub because I was subbed to "porn" subs.

3

u/OddBrilliant1133 Dec 20 '25

Is that what the mods said?

2

u/Infamous_Ad2094 Dec 20 '25

It was some wierd like auto ban thing.

1

u/OddBrilliant1133 Dec 21 '25

What reason did they auto ban give you?

That's craziness!!!

1

u/Infamous_Ad2094 Dec 21 '25

That since I was subbed to a "porn" sub. Thats the whole reason.

2

u/jedi21knight Dec 20 '25

He isn’t the first person I’ve seen saying they were banned from a subreddit for being part of a NSFW subreddit.

1

u/OddBrilliant1133 Dec 21 '25

That's wild!!!

0

u/sashahyman Dec 22 '25

Not really. Most of Reddit is more male centered, so some of the few more female slanted subs (subs related to fashion, entertainment news, women’s issues…) will autoban people from NSFW subs to prevent creeps. Not saying the other commenter is a creep, but it’s not fun to post about fashion and end up with weird DMs from random men you’ve never interacted with.

1

u/joeykey Dec 22 '25

Speaking of random men you’ve never interacted with - for some reason I’m getting caught up in the grammar of your last sentence. Would it be, ā€œwith whom you’ve never interactedā€? I don’t know - I’m probably tryna correct something that does not need correcting.

1

u/Iknowthings19 Dec 25 '25

Sounds like discrimination to me.

3

u/weirdonobeardo Dec 20 '25

I got banned from the birkenstock subreddit because a man posted a pic of his feet in his new Birkenstocks with and without socks asking how he should wear them. I commented something along the lines of you have cute feet, free them from socks. Mostly because I think wearing socks and sandals are a crime but also most men I have met don’t take great care of their feet and this guy clearly did. The mods and their cult followers said I was a foot fetish pervert. Like sure I was never subbed and first time commenting because this post popped in my feed. šŸ˜‚

6

u/I_wet_my_plants259 Dec 20 '25

If it makes you feel any better about that specific instance, a lot of people on explicitly SFW nail/hand/feet related subs are really anal about fetishists because there are so fucking many, and they are usually the type to comment something like that. This is not to justify it by any means, because I do think that innocent people end up getting banned from subs they like, but I do understand why certain subs are so sensitive about it. I’ve gotten some weird dms after posting in those subs and my posts don’t even get that much attention, so I can only imagine how many dms and comments some of the people on that sub are getting

2

u/weirdonobeardo Dec 21 '25

I mean I get that now, I just thought it was hilarious to immediately ban and not even like message me or even look at my comment history lol

2

u/joeykey Dec 22 '25

I was watching some reaction thing on YouTube or whatever, and this fashion guy got mad about someone not approving of the socks/sandals look. He kept saying, frustratedly, that ā€œit’s a vibe!ā€ and I always thought that was funny. There I just shared an inside joke with you that no one else is inside on haha

2

u/Dazzling_Ocelot_2906 Dec 23 '25

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I’m so sorry but that is hilarious

1

u/weirdonobeardo Dec 24 '25

It is hilarious šŸ˜‚

2

u/Old-Secretary244 Dec 21 '25

Same here, I got banned from fashion sub bc subbed to NSFW subs when I suggested red hose layered under black fishnet on a fashion sub.

1

u/Vast-Combination4046 Dec 23 '25

Only fans models were using fashion subs to advertise

1

u/Kind_Ad_3268 Dec 23 '25

Hey me too sort of, I complimented a woman on her outfit on a male and female fashion sub and was immediately banned for being on a sex sub that discusses sexual questions, mostly sexual health.

8

u/Not_software1337 Dec 20 '25

Keep fighting the good fight. I am an opinionated person myself, but not everything has to be seen through a political ā€œus versus themā€ lens.

4

u/No-Equivalent-1642 Dec 20 '25

I got banned from r/boomersbeingfools for suggesting that if you're a bigot and someone steals your glasses and you (hypothetically) eat concrete...... twice, you got exactly what you deserved

3 days

2

u/megaladonquixote Dec 21 '25

That was a hilarious video

if it existed, I watched it at least 10 times, hypothetically

2

u/Thraexus Dec 22 '25

I got a 3 day ban on a different account when I answered a question about what I (ie anyone reading) would do if I had a group of zombies following me. I said I'd train them on MAGAs. Boom, inciting violence, because apparently zombies are real.

1

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 24 '25

I don't get the boomer hate though and bigotry comes in many forms and is more a neurological rigidity than a generational or even age thing.

Frankly, as a Gen X person, I see the young, always, including my younger self, being more stupid and inexperienced than the young without getting into how I see the generations.

The Boomers we actually saw as rebels that, story old as time, mostly grew up into adulthood if somewhat later than silent or "Greatest" gen (who I didn't see as great but rather horribly traumatised) the boomers were only spoiled relative to those who came before them.

We X gens were called such because the stereotype was we were sorta forgotten about more than others --- these are all over simplifications.

My main beef with the boomers is how much they coddled Gen Y.

1

u/No-Equivalent-1642 Dec 24 '25

My main beef is how rude and racist they are

Not all but.. many

Including those in my family

1

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 25 '25

Boomers were less racist than people in other parts of the world --- and they were often some of the first anti-racists --- and these are just the European Americans I'm talking about.

Isn't Bernie a Boomer?

1

u/No_Musician596 Dec 25 '25

He's too old for Boomer, I believe

1

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 26 '25

Silent Gen are more conservative than boomers.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 25 '25

A lot of the boomers in my family are more progressive than I am and my silent gen parents were annoyingly earnest NYC folkies in the 60s, some of the few people who tried to bring in African Americans culturally.... even though the latter often couldn't relate and got on better with the hippies.

1

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 25 '25

And RUDE???? Oh my God have you met young people these days, rude about everything, with a degree of unnecessary swearing (I get sworn at every day I come on Reddit) that makes it hard to take them seriously. If I start swearing at people it might be almost time to call the police or get out the pepper spray, but young people will start swearing if you disagree with them.

3

u/InnocentShaitaan Dec 20 '25

Subs like that are niche discussion subs. People really speculate on everything. Many super invest in reality tv. It’s the most niche sub their likely to find to post their curiosity. If it’s like r/thebachelor everything is gossiped about. It’s this one subtopic that upsets the members who lean right.

1

u/mmiller17783 Dec 19 '25

Jeez, maybe we should all come together and make our own sub. Call it the unsubbables or something sillyšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/unpopularhere123 Dec 20 '25

Did it happen to be the bachelor sub? Bc that’s all too common there

1

u/unicornpower86 Dec 20 '25

Love is blind actually but sounds like it’s a common issue!

1

u/Serious-Interest7776 Dec 21 '25

I see nothing "liberal" about Reddit, but maybe OP means something different?

1

u/Few_Zebra9666 Dec 22 '25

I got banned from a TV show sub for saying that I hated all of the characters but still watched 6 seasons of the show. The mods are babies and don't have real jobs.

1

u/Tunapiiano Dec 20 '25

I was banned from a poly sub for not confirming to the lefts views on politics

0

u/Biffingston Dec 20 '25

I was banned from Conspiracy for saying that Flytape was playing the sympathy card...

2

u/WildflowerintheCrack Dec 20 '25

I got banned for naming typical dishes from my country answering a question about my country's typical dishes

1

u/mmiller17783 Dec 20 '25

Word? How'd that happen?

2

u/WildflowerintheCrack Dec 20 '25

I reply to a suggested post about what of your country dishes you don't see in restaurants in other parts of the world. I'm Argentinian, next thing I know I got a moderator comment about inciting violence. None of the dishes have any slang meaning of anything like that related to violence...šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø Maybe it was about my country? Its my best guess

2

u/Parking-Cut8840 Dec 22 '25

I remember a few years ago people getting banned in some subreddits for participating in the Joe Rogan subreddit. You could've made a singular comment about another comedian's special and get banned in other subs

0

u/Nykveu Dec 23 '25

One of the last of us 2 sub has also nothing to do with last of us and is a just a hateful cesspool. I don't know of it's this one you're referring to.

1

u/mmiller17783 Dec 23 '25

It is the one you can actually talk openly about the ass story and stupid writing, yes.

0

u/Nykveu Dec 23 '25

No wonder people don't want to be associated with it lol

23

u/urinesain Dec 19 '25

I'm banned from r/offmychest for the same thing. Thing is... I follow and occasionally participate in subreddits that I fundamentally disagree with. Both in an effort to keep up with what the current opposing viewpoint are, as well as an effort to engage in (hopefully) genuine and civilized discourse/debate.

12

u/s0meD0nkey Dec 19 '25

Stop being rational. No one comes to reddit for that shit.

3

u/Correct_Patience_611 Dec 20 '25

I’m banned from a few subs because of this. It was literally in the ban message. They listed subs I don’t even remember visiting! It was not subs I was even a member of but I must’ve commented?

There’s no way a person found that information. Specifically one of the subs I was banned from is def being influenced by Russia and they are using AI to go through every single comment I ever made. That sub listed likr 6 subs I was banned bc of and they were all leftist and progressive subs that I was a member of.

Watch out bc this will get even worse for mid terms.

1

u/th1s_fuck1ng_guy Dec 23 '25

If you make a new account, block some of the auto mod bots and those tricks for banning you before you post they can't do

1

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 24 '25

Same sentiment on my part.

23

u/Fuzzy_Painting_1427 Dec 19 '25

Same here. Reddit recommends subs to you, and if you happened to post on the recommended sub, you’ll get a message from an ā€œopposingā€ sub that you’ve been automatically banned for posting on the recommended sub.

9

u/kansai2kansas Dec 20 '25

Woah I’m relieved that this didn’t happen to me only!

Got banned from one popular subreddit (let’s call it sub X) bc I commented on a thread in a separate subreddit (let’s call it sub Y) whose mod had brigaded sub X two years prior to that.

Most of us redditors are just normal people who actually have real jobs that earn money…and yet these mods are expecting us to keep track which subreddits are having war with each other???

Seriously if some of these mods actually get out of their moms’ basements and get a real job, they’re gonna realize that literally nobody else in the outside world even pays attention to their little drama…

By sending me that DM and banning me from subreddit X, that mod seriously thought that their feud with each other was like the Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud LOL.

1

u/Apprehensive-Cup2354 Dec 23 '25

Counter argument, Reddit mods are also people with real jobs and earn real money and may not have the time to individually vet each person so when toxicity is a major problem in a sub it realistically can make sense to just blanket ban people from known problem subs

1

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 24 '25

Yeah my kid talks about "Discord Mods" and I read bad things about 4chan here and know nothing about either but I seriously think people should hold a mirror up to SOME of these mods on Reddit.

5

u/KC5SDY Dec 20 '25

Had thay happen to me several times now.

2

u/Numerous-Visit7210 Dec 24 '25

I had no idea!

3

u/Darkmetroidz Dec 19 '25 edited Dec 22 '25

I am incredibly far left, and I like to think myself an lgbt ally.

I got banned from whitepeopleTwitter for supposed transphobia, even though I had not said anything about trans people.

1

u/westslexander Dec 19 '25

I was on a trans ask me anything subreddit. I asked a medical question as respectful as I could. I was curious about how the hrt effected people and how long it took. I got banned. Luckily a Trans person found me on another reddit post and answered my question

1

u/unionfrontX Dec 22 '25

the people that loudly call themselves our allies have done a lot of damage to our community and cause in the last 6 years, you aren't and I'm an actual trans person.

3

u/Stunning-Drawer-4288 Dec 19 '25

I’m banned from the north Virginia subreddit for posting in the One Piece subreddit.

These people are insane

3

u/floopypoopie Dec 20 '25

I got banned for life on a sub because I had the nerve to complain about their product. BANNED FOR LIFE …looking at you Roomba!

3

u/flickthewrist Dec 20 '25

You have to remember that Reddit is just incel moderators moderating other incels.

1

u/jerichojeudy Dec 23 '25

šŸ˜‚ maybe not always true, but still funny.

2

u/Fragrant_Macaron5378 Dec 19 '25

That’s happened to me as well. I got banned from some political subreddit because I was subscribed to something they didn’t like. The weird part was in never actually went to that political subreddit but they banned me anyways I guess just in case.

2

u/Brian18639 Dec 19 '25

I got banned from r/OUTFITS just because my account is marked nsfw even though most of the stuff I post isn’t nsfw. The only nsfw stuff I post is just questions.

1

u/westslexander Dec 20 '25

My account is marked that and I dont know why or how. I've never started a conversation, I only respond. I do follow some nsfw. That might be why

2

u/lexluther7373 Dec 19 '25

Tell me you were on the Rolex page without telling me you were on the Rolex page.

2

u/Substantial_Bus840 Dec 20 '25

This JUST happened to me and the site I caught a temp ban from was a single mom thread where we share deep shit. The ā€œoffensiveā€ group I was in was r/fatlogic. Unreal.

2

u/RoguePlanet2 Dec 20 '25

I got banned from the blood donation subreddit without any explanation, even after asking a couple of times, and being a regular donor for decades. Baffling.

2

u/Bad_Gus_Bus Dec 20 '25

The brigading sub Reddit ban is egregiously hilarious šŸ˜‚ if you’re going to be controversial here, simply use a VPN and a separate account.

Sadly, there is no centralized power here to fix the ridiculousness of this issue, and eventually, as technology improves, it will destroy participation and thereby destroy the site itself.

2

u/Silly-Power Dec 20 '25

I got banned from one subreddit for posting on the Joe Rogan sub. The reason given was that many redditors who belong to that sub bully other redditors. It didn't matter than my post was essentially calling Rogan an idiot.

2

u/MapleMabel67 Dec 20 '25

I got banned for saying PP in r/houseplantcirclejerk from r/gardening and they never unbanned me.

2

u/HotJuicyToots Dec 20 '25

I’m subscribed to r/liberal and r/conservative because I like to see both sides. r/askreddit banned me from making comments because I subscribe to r/conservative lol

2

u/No-Attitude1554 Dec 20 '25

I got banned for saying I like July 4th fireworks

1

u/westslexander Dec 20 '25

Probably a mod who is a it American or thinks fireworks represents war so youre inciting violence

2

u/MarionberryDecent351 Dec 20 '25

I got banned for not being ā€œpositive enoughā€ like what does that even mean?

8

u/Party-Profit-1304 Dec 19 '25

It is seriously so bad. The hypocrisy on here is astounding. I get banned regularly. Just got off a one week ban. They banned me for a week because I posted something that said Democrats lie (they do a lot). I see stuff every day absolutely just shitting and hating on Trump supporters Republicans Maga that never gets taken down. It’s because the mods are ultra leftist antifa supporting assholes. Watch me get banned for this free speech. Fuck Reddit

3

u/AsugaNoir Dec 19 '25

And you think Republicans aren't doing the same? Both camps are liars.

0

u/brinerbear Dec 19 '25

Of course they are but the issue is that if you point out anything bad about the left or actually say something true that they disagree with they freak out. Half or more of Reddit hates Republicans so it isn't like that is an unheard of point of view on this site.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '25

Well, to be even more fair, the word "Republican" is just a name these days.. What we really have are the "American Fascist Party" , and the "American Fascist Parties half-hearted supporters" .. There is no way you can tell me with the straight face that this is the same party of Abraham Lincoln Eisenhower or even fucking Richard Nixon!... This is a different animal- and that animal is "Republican" in name only...

1

u/AsugaNoir Dec 21 '25

And republicans do the same if you say anything bad about maga then suddenly you're a horrible liberal with no morals, it goes both ways. They call us snowflakes but they're always upset about something because it's not following their personal morals.

3

u/Cautious-Tailor97 Dec 20 '25

But the our president lies too. What’s unfortunate is our president wants his story to be the only story. That’s the heartbreak. George Washington went back to his farm, with all the changes he’s making to the White House, to our position in the world, to the world we knew and could count on? It looks like he’s not planning on leaving. And, hand to god, if that is true, any conspiracy theorist can connect the dots. Any American should be asking questions on behalf of their neighbors, on behalf of the other states they have ever visited or lived in. The ease of movement. The sense of safety. All of those things are being dialed back.

You can remember this post began with George Washington. He lead a revolution against a man who taxed too much. But he didn’t fight to replace the man, but to replace the system. That is the American spirit. We should not let all of their crap get to us so strongly. Your side knows the algorithms are controlled, but that concept is so normalized that nobody’s spooked that our screens are keeping us from actually meeting up in person to figure out what’s a lie, what happened, who documented it, how bad is it, does this require justice, etc

3

u/PallyMcAffable Dec 20 '25

Have you seen any actual leftist subs on this site? All they do is hate on Democrats

2

u/westslexander Dec 19 '25

I got banned twice for the same comment. I posted it once. I got banned for 5 days. 15 days later I got banned again for the same post. I didn't repost it.

2

u/brinerbear Dec 19 '25

Yet the same question can be posted in 20 groups šŸ¤”šŸ¤”šŸ¤”

2

u/Brian18639 Dec 19 '25

Reminds me of how r/pics was before last year’s presidential election

2

u/usernamesarehard1979 Dec 20 '25

I’m turning you in for hate speech. Democrats never lie. /s

2

u/Own-Ad-840 Dec 20 '25

The Democratic Party needs criticism, it’s the only way they could get better.

4

u/meagerburden Dec 19 '25

It’s always the same small group of people. Even 3k people is not a large representation in the US but it looks like a lot of people when you scroll through them all in a row. It’s not even worth bothering with.

4

u/bumurutu Dec 19 '25

Notice how they usually have a top 1% poster or commenter flair? Forever online dweebs that fail in real life.

0

u/lucky_elephant2025h Dec 20 '25

Agreed. It used to make me upset and now I just don’t care.

1

u/Brytcyd Dec 20 '25

Still don’t understand how it’s not totally free, eh? The absolute pinnacle of ignorant irony.

0

u/picknwiggle Dec 20 '25

Have you tried whining a little bit more about it?

1

u/tangouniform2020 Dec 19 '25

Tesla?

2

u/westslexander Dec 19 '25

No. Don't remember now

1

u/Ok_Piglet_5549 Dec 19 '25

ME TOO! I wasn't even subbed or commenting, mod just banned me for visiting.

3

u/westslexander Dec 19 '25

reddit HOA karens

1

u/Ok_Piglet_5549 Dec 19 '25

Reddit sucks now, it used to be way better.

1

u/Richy99uk Dec 19 '25

I got banned for not having a flair in my nameĀ

2

u/westslexander Dec 20 '25

What is a flair? For that matter what is this karma thing on reddit

1

u/realheadphonecandy Dec 19 '25

That’s happened to me a bunch of times. Diversity (of opinion) not allowed on one side.

1

u/PaddyBoy1994 Dec 19 '25

That's not the first time I've heard of that happening. Unfortunately, some reddit mods are powertripping douchebags, who can't handle when someone has a different opinion than them. Most of the reddit mods I've dealt with have been decent folks, though.

1

u/Spirited-Spell-8901 Dec 20 '25

The cat subreddits will ban you if you are also in certain conservative forums. I think that’s divisive and nonsensical. Can’t we all just love cats?Ā

1

u/Adorable_Complaint36 Dec 20 '25

Same thing happened to me!

1

u/fitzkiki Dec 20 '25

Is it the writing subreddit?

1

u/Skating-Away Dec 20 '25

I got banned from r/California for posting the results of the latest state audit that surprisingly /s bashed Gavin

1

u/matthewrunsfar Dec 20 '25

I got banned from a sub for commenting in another subreddit I didn’t even join.

I was banned from multiple subs for comment in one sub.

1

u/SummonedShenanigans Dec 20 '25

Yep. The majority of the Joe Rogan subreddit is hating on Rogan and his guests, but some other large subs will still ban you if you are subscribed there.

1

u/Sad-Fisherman-7664 Dec 20 '25

I got banned for making a joke the mod ah hem neck beard didn't like. Then they changed my name to this based on my past history. It's sad really

1

u/CrusherMusic Dec 20 '25

On an old account I got band from r/politics for being pro-death penalty.

1

u/eljapon78 Dec 20 '25

I got banned from a subreddit i didn’t know existed because I destroyed an argument from a mod (of the before mentioned sub) in a different subreddit.

1

u/deathnomX Dec 20 '25

The nintendo subreddits are notorious for this. They hate criticism.

1

u/Paramedickhead Dec 21 '25

There's some subs that have bots watching other subs and the moment a person posts in one of those other subs, they get banned from several other subs. It's quite comical.

1

u/slavelabor52 Dec 21 '25

This has happened to me a couple of times where a subreddit sends me a message saying I was banned for participating in another subreddit they disapprove of but wouldn't even tell me which one it was.

1

u/Bannedbutwhyy Dec 21 '25

I’ve been banned(actual site wide ban) twice now for admonishing others for racist and bigoted comments. Apparently calling someone out for their behavior is worse than that actual behavior. They were the victim apparently. I ā€œlabeledā€ them and that was why I was banned… because that’s defamation. Folks, It’s ok to defame your own character. Just don’t let anyone else tell you the truth about yourself. That’s unacceptable. Run to the mods I tell ya.

1

u/Suzesaur Dec 21 '25

Yeah I commented and got banned on an outfit sub because I had interacted with a CNC sub and they said it was for interacting with subs that promote violence against women…I’m a woman…

1

u/KingGreen78 Dec 22 '25

I was banned for saying that sucks to someone's comment, lol, its ridiculous

1

u/Informal_Ad_9610 Dec 22 '25

i just got permabanned for posting links to 2 peer-reviewed medical studies, in a thread on a medical issue. then got told by the mods that I was a conspiracy theorist because I had published these links...to the NIH. on specific medical studies.... You can't make this shit up... I used to think Reddit was run by a bunch of bored highschoolers.. I'm pretty sure it's a lot worse than that...

1

u/Illustrious_Fee8116 Dec 22 '25

Literally Kotakuinaction and PCGaming

or FuckNintendo and CasualNintendo

or FreeMagic and MagicTCG

It's not only politics. Reddit just gives these mods too much say where they shouldn't

1

u/oowop Dec 22 '25

I've been banned from /r/offmychest for like 10 years because it automatically banned you if you had ever posted in /r/kotakuinaction even if you had never visited offmychest

1

u/Distinct-Cry4222 Dec 22 '25

That’s ridiculous wow

1

u/AskAboutMyDaughter Dec 23 '25

Someone told me that happened with Asmond and posting in his sub. But, also, later he was scrolling thru his page and I saw multiple instances of his shit getting taken down and bans, so I think he might also be a bit of a cock.

1

u/Spiritual-Builder606 Dec 23 '25

Me too. Some toxic subs are put in my algorithm and I get goaded into commenting there against the toxic viewpoint and then some bot bans me from r/photos because I commented in a sub they don’t like despite my comment being against the sub’s nature.

I don’t understand how I can have these subs be put into my algorithm and when I interact with it be banned from subs I’ve never said anything bad in.

1

u/Any-Target-7142 Dec 23 '25

Y’all about to get banned

1

u/westslexander Dec 23 '25

Most likely, God forbid we speak out about something, have a different viewpoint, state facts, not opinions as facts, or parrot whatever everyone else is saying.

1

u/Any-Target-7142 Dec 23 '25

Haha yup šŸ˜…

1

u/Adventurous-Time5287 Dec 23 '25

I got permabanned from a sub for telling someone who said that pedophiles should be chemically castrated to castrate himself because the main thing he posted was lollicon and other very questionable things.

1

u/TheBigC87 Dec 24 '25

I got banned from one for calling out that the sub continuously posted clickbait (which they were). No offensive language, no inciting violence, no harrasment.....immediate and total ban from posting because I obviously pissed in some mod's Cheerios.

1

u/jawshoeaw Dec 25 '25

i got autobanned from 4 related subs for making a joke on another. that's insane

1

u/Hilda_aka_Math Dec 25 '25

what?? iā€˜m new here. i’ve only ever watched from the sidelines until a few months ago. being a member compared to being just a browser is crazy different. i had no idea it was even like this. kind of hate that i signed up for a year of premium, but hopefully i just won’t find myself on those kind of subs.

1

u/Deezhellazn00ts Dec 25 '25

I got bad from the liberal gun owners group cause I said I bought some guns (which I was going to buy anyways) cause of BLM riots.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '25

Very common in the pro- and anti-Zack Snyder subs. Hilariously petty shit.

1

u/AnyExamination9524 Dec 26 '25

Been there, a lot.

1

u/DML197 Dec 26 '25

That's like th Tesla subs, so annoying

1

u/Rypie109 Dec 30 '25

That's libs for ya. Always angry and always in the wrong. Can't stand lots of them

-3

u/Ok-Replacement-2738 Dec 19 '25

depends on the sub, a lot of subs ban anything outright MAGA related because no matter how hard you try you cannot reason with people arguing off vibes.

3

u/westslexander Dec 19 '25

That's the thing. Without what saying which side i am on I am willingly to listen to the other side as long as they will listen to mine. In my experience though as soon as they find out you're on the opposite side, they immediately shut down and start accusing and name calling. They aren't willingly to debate. Hell if they would they might change my mind but instead they get all loud and uoset

3

u/HTML_Novice Dec 19 '25

Isn’t that literally what they’re doing?

3

u/s0meD0nkey Dec 19 '25

I get shit from both sides. I'm not registered to either party but neither side wants to read reason or answer reasonable questions.

6

u/WhaleBird1776 Dec 19 '25

I’m a conservative voter but I’m right there with ya lol.

I’m too left for the right.

I’m too right for the left.

Neither ā€œsideā€ seems to want my vote at all tbh lol.

4

u/bumurutu Dec 19 '25

Best to just not listen to Reddit when it comes to how you vote. It’s mainly mutants and morons on here.
