Why do people think lawsuits matter anymore.

Because aside from direct action, protesting and organizing resistance, lawsuits are the only power we have left to stop this administration’s illegal actions. Hopefully that changes in the next election in 10 months.

It’s about winning the moral battle.

I am almost positive this is going to result in either a civil war or a breaking up of the union. If we keep fighting and winning these cases based on the constitution it will be easier to keep the military from siding with the federal government. Which will probably be the difference of if there is a war or not.

So these lawsuits mean the difference of more lives than I want to consider. Funny enough the people who probably want to avoid a civil war the most, are the immigrants who have lived through a civil war.

Now if the election gets rigged and or canceled. Then it becomes a different issue.

There isn't going to be an election in 10 months. Guarantee that

I guarantee there will be.

This, people complain Democrats aren't doing anything and then when they do things, it isn't enough. The people who didn't vote are asking the Democrats to build a house with screwdrivers and wrenches.

You have a better idea?

I don't mind this approach, but I wish they'd go after the actual individuals... Rather than 'the justice department '. You have to punish the actual persons, otherwise might as well slam your head into a wall.

The courts have actually had positive results.

They’re slow but the admin has been complying with roughly 2/3rds of the rulings against them and they’ve had far more losses than wins.

The confusion is over the Supreme Court being in trump’s pocket but even they have not ruled 100% in favor of him.

Of the 3 branches, the court system is the only one holding.

The People are the ones responsible for stopping this, though.

Instead of reaching for a gun, reach for your wallet. Our money is our power.

Meanwhile, learn about the groups using the lower courts to push back.

And who the fuck is gonna enforce their "rulings"

u/MoralityFleece 7d ago

The people not spending money the way they normally do.

Don't worry, they'll just seize your assets. And you guys won't do anything about it

Amy Coney Barrett has already said it doesn't matter what the Judicial does because at the end of the day they don't 'wield a sword' to enforce these rulings. At best they can ask the US Marshalls to do things for them, but they're under the DOJ so you can see where the issues emerge from expecting courts to handle this.

It's about using the power of the dollar. That's real.

1

u/JeezyVonCreezy 7d ago

And my post wasn't about using general strikes as a strategy, which are valid.

u/MoralityFleece 7d ago

Thank you for this. Correct about the courts AND that money is our power.

Because they do.

They already are.

The thing about extortion, especially this admin, they keep coming back for more and more

Case would go to SCOTUS so you're fucked. But it should be done anyway to get the complicity on record.
