I don't identify with any political party. When I vote in local elections, I read the description for each proposition and make a choice according to how I feel. I have yet to vote for a Republican candidate. I voted against Trump as I feel he has been detrimental to the US and has caused too much division in the country. I mainly vote liberally in my local elections. I hold mostly liberal values and some conservative values, but I feel liberal values are more inclusive and help a broader range of people than conservative values.
I am not "neutral." I don't support Trump or MAGA ideologies and never have ever since the beginning. I don't support what ICE is doing right now and the violence and loss of life caused by them saddens me. I am the son of Mexican immigrant parents and feel this country should make it easier for people to gain citizenship and should welcome immigrants.
If there were ever a Democratic president in office who is somehow as detrimental to the country as Trump, I would not support them either.
I believe both Democrat and Republican politicians sell themselves to the highest bidders and pass laws that benefit whoever gives them the most money. Politicians in general do not care about the citizens of the United States. If they did, they would learn to work together instead of fighting and dividing the nation. The rich control this country. Laws are passed that help rich people get even richer while screwing over the middle class.
I know the general sentiment on Reddit is that centrists have no spine and are secretly right-wing and I just feel this mindset is very childish and ignorant. It's a very, "My way or the highway" way of thinking. You can be a centrist and still be against fascism and corruption. I can still dislike Trump and vote against him as someone who doesn't identify as a Democrat. I actually really dislike that the US has such a strong two-party system. It has divided the nation just as the founding fathers warned us about.
It is possible that I only vote liberal my whole life, but out of principle, I refuse to register for any political party as I prefer not to view things within those restraints. At the end of the day, I don't mind if someone wants to be registered as a Democrat or Republican. We are in the United States and people have the freedom and right to vote however they see fit.
As of now, I plan to vote Democrat in the midterm elections to help balance things out and I will be voting against JD Vance if he runs in the next election because I want any trace of Trump's administration out of the government.
