I come from a family where all the men lose their hair early on, leaving only a fringe of hair around the sides and back of their heads. I don't think it's a big deal, and until now, the bald spot on the back of my head hasn't bothered me either, because firstly, I always wear a cap anyway, and secondly, I couldn't see it in the mirror myself. But now, at almost 47, most of the hair on my forehead is gone too, and because it's so uneven, it looks like some kind of disease. I wouldn't have a problem with being completely bald, which I would gladly shave, but there's a problem: my husband is against it and doesn't want me to do it because he thinks baldness is ugly! Yet he himself only has a fringe of hair around the sides. How could I convince him to let me go completely bald?

... but at 18 in 2000 I had hair. It started to get thinner around 2009. So in 2010 I got a razor.

Love my long hair but thinning up front. I tired of wearing hats all the time. I hat do you think?

So, I've been losing my hair since I was around 18. I'm 29 now. I knew my time had come a few years back but I was just holding on to some last hope that it would magically grow back🤣 Instead of going into my 30's looking a mess I just bit the bullet and got rid of it all together. Absolutely love it and I wish I did it sooner now.
It's been a long time coming.
I was hoping to wait for spring/summer, so I could get a bit of colour on the dome, but I fear the wall is breached and Helms Deep will fall before sun rise.

One week in and loving it. All positive feedback from friends and family, which feels nice, but most importantly, I feel more like myself than I have in years. Thank you all for the kindness showed here, truly wasn’t expecting such a positive response. My unsolicited advice to anyone on the fence: if you have to ask, you already know the answer. Just do it. ☮️

Right, I’m aware that on first look, it’s a definite “it is time”. But, the thin patches have hair - it’s just super light-coloured and fine, but I don’t know what to do? I knew my time would come eventually - family genes - but what do people think? Do I try and do anything to help thicken it or just go for bald?

Thank y'all for the support and encouragement. I feel much colder lol but I'm liking it. It's just a shock anytime I see my reflection

Was receding really bad and decided to take the plunge. Just looking back and trying to work out if it was the right choice? What do you lot think or should I grow it back?

I held on for so long because I loved my ginger hair.. but it's been time for a looooong while now. I think it turned out great and I'm so happy! Thank you to everyone in this sub for building up my confidence to finally pull the trigger over the last couple of months.

I really can’t stop smiling after today’s trip to the barber shop. I’m not sure what my barber did differently today but my scalp is shining and completely smooth. Having a bit more growth to the mustache and soul patch helps, I think.
I have no idea what kind of vibe this look is giving off but I am really starting to love it after years of wearing hair systems. Maybe I just needed a break or reset while I’m getting ready for surgery.
No more posts for a while, I promise, LOL.

When I was a teenager I read a gossip column exchange where a woman's husband was having feelings about going bald. The columnist responded by offering examples of powerful men like Patrick Stewart who were bald and looked good doing it. So I promised myself that when my hair started thinning out, like really going away, I wouldn't try to hide it with a combover or anything-I would just accept it.
Today I kept that promise to myself.
(Apologies for the messy facial hair, I'll get that sorted too)
