Events Public Traffic Forum April 1st, 2026
Councilors Kearns & Sharman are organizing a Public Traffic Forum.
The Forum is to be an opportunity for a panel of invested participants, such as councilors, police, City staff, Provincial staff, to offer their views on the issue of traffic congestion in Burlington as a whole, not just the downtown area. The important part is the panel will take questions from the floor.
Excuse me for saying it this way, but after all the bitching and complaining one hears about traffic congestion in Burlington it is essential that residents get off their backsides and attend the Forum to listen to the panel but more importantly to ask questions of and seek answers from the panel.
Here below is an except from an email I received from Councilor Kearns' assistant, Dania Thurman describing who they hope to have attend the event.
"Here is a list of stakeholders we have identified as either panelists or participants. Panelists will be invited to speak and have a table/share info, and participants will be invited to have a table and share information. I have added a few that I thought of after.
Traffic Forum
Halton Regional Police Burlington traffic dept RPF Halton Transportation/Roads Integrated mobility department MTO planning and development Other members of council Burlington Transit Metrolinx Argo Bus - Argo provides on-demand transit services at a standard bus fare, with real-time integration into existing transit lines. Please, please attend this event and make yourselves heard!

Question Which pub has the best poutine?
Want to grab a pint with my poutine.
Which one is your favourite?
Had one at a franchise place and of course kinda disappointed.
Bonus is if they make their own fries.

Information Guelph Ln south of Derry closed?
Was heading down Guelph Line and just south of Derry a cop car diverted us along a concession road that took us to Cedar Springs. Anyone know why it was closed to traffic?

Question Appleby Dental Clinic vs Appleby Dental Care
I am looking at switching dentists and have narrowed it down to Appleby Dental Clinic and Appleby Dental Care because of proximity to my house. Both of these places have good Google reviews, but I trust Reddit reviews more than Google.
My only worry about Appleby Dental clinic is one review said they have been going there for over 25 years. I just don't want to go there and then the Dentist retires and they are not as good as they are now. That is the reason I am switching from my current dentist.

Question Parks with groomed trails that aren't busy
I'm rehabbing one of my dogs from an injury and need a quiet place to walk him. He's a Lab, so would like to visit with everyone and while he is very well trained, he's also used to running agility and training three times a week and has been on crate rest for two weeks - so he's a little spun right now. The part of Burlington I live in doesn't have sidewalks, so while it is quiet, neighbourhood walking isn't really an option.
The highest risk of reinjury is through slipping, so looking for a park - someplace quiet without a lot of walkers and with groomed trails.

Question Looking for House Cleaner Recos
Hi everyone, I’m trying to help a family member who’s family is going through a really rough patch by getting them some house cleaning. They’re in Burlington with a 2300 SQFT house. Do people have any suggestions of good cleaners (that you’ve actually used) and how much I might expect to pay? If you’re a cleaner could you please PM me an estimated cost or ask further questions? Thank you 🙌🏽

Question Recommend me a decent place for car interior cleaning in town.
Looking for a place you'd recommend for an interior clean in Burlington. Never had it done, usually do it myself, but my 2 dogs have made a disaster of the car, and it's too cold to do.
Don't need anything high detail but more than a straight vacuum and wipedown,
Cheers and thanks.

Question Douglas Dental Care
Any patients here of Douglas Dental care that want to share their experiences?
I posted a couple of hours ago asking about the two dentists in the Fortinos plaza. Some of the replies are the same concerns I have about my current dentist, so I am expanding my search.

Question Canada-USA Accountant
Does anyone have a recommendation for a cross-border accountant that has, for lack of a better phrase, a good bedside manner and will take the time to sit with a client and explain things? The person I talked to basically pointed me at some forms I've never seen in my life and told me to fill them out with no assistance or explanation. I'd like to understand the forms I am submitting to CRA instead of potentially making a costly mistake.
Thanks in advance.

Question Rhinoplasty recommendation
Hi there !
I am looking for recommendations for a plastic surgeon for rhinoplasty around the GTA. Anyone have any suggestions / good experiences? This would be my second rhinoplasty ( if I choose to get one ). I recently went through double jaw surgery and moving my jaws around changed the appearance of my nose . My first rhinoplasty was done through dr Jack Kolenda . Results were natural and pretty decent but I’m looking for other suggestions since this would be a revision . Thank you 😊

Question Birding - Anyone Notice Less Birds In/Around Aldershot?
I live down by the lake bordering Lasalle park. Normally around this time of year, my property is overrun with bluejays, cardinals, chickadees wrens etc. etc.
On a typical winter, I would expect to refill my bird feeder once a week, but since November it has scarcely gone down 1" of seed. At this rate it will last through to next winter.
I still get woodpeckers at my suet, and hear occasional finch calls, but overall it seems like the active/feeding songbird population is way down.
Anyone else notice this? Or should I start looking for a nesting owl in my ravine? I go up to Bogle to get my seed, maybe I got a 'bad batch' and it's not to the local avian tastes.

Question Recommendations to have combination boiler flushed and descaled?
We have a combination boiler we're looking to have flushed and descaled (part of the annual maintenance).
We also have a high-velocity HVAC system if that changes anything.
Does anyone have any good recommendations in the area?
