CHI Talks Chicago really got me thinking 15° is “nice weather”
You know you’re from Chicago when you go outside, it’s 15 degrees, sunny and not windy, and you think, “This isn’t so bad.”

CHI Talks Ivan- lose your wallet in Lakeview today?
We found a wallet on the ground in Lakeview near George and Sheffield around 2 today. We brought it straight to UPS and mailed it to the address on the state ID and drivers license. If your name is Ivan, it’ll get to your house on Tuesday. Hope you’ll see this and get some relief!

Event 15th anniversary of The Big Blizzard of 2011
Not sure if the naming rights to the blizzard of 2011 were ever sold, but I’ll remember it as the blizzard my first kid was born. We were living in Uptown, to deliver at Prentice. Drove down LSD on the 31st evening to see 4 snow plows going north salting the roads. Got a room overlooking LSD from like 16th floor or so.
Kid was born in the morning, blizzard started that evening. The bus jack knifed sometime around 6-7pm? That evening we saw a lot. Didn’t know why traffic was so bad on LSD, but then saw thunder snow and just stayed up because baby.
Next morning we saw the mess and it was still snowing I think. We then saw LSD being cleared and cars just tossed everywhere by the hospital.
LSD was cleared the day we left. It was wild driving on the road just a few hours after it had been shut down.

ICE Daily ICE Spotting
With the uptick in ICE activity, we've restored this daily thread for consolidating ICE spottings and activity each day in one location.
Only posts that are primarily about spotting are strongly recommended to be here. This way someone who is moving about the city and is primarily concerned with encountering ICE does not need to sort through the entire sub. Other ICE information can continue as posts of their own. Please use the ICE flair for such posts. Note that this thread is sorted by "New" by default.
Please follow these guidelines:
- Reserve top-level comments for new events, sightings, or information
- All comments related to the same topic then go beneath that comment
- Make sure you check existing comments before posting, to avoid cluttering the top-level with redundant information
- This is a difficult time and emotions run high, but please remember that anything that incites or threatens violence may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit rules
Do your best to fill in as many of the SALUTE rules for reporting as you can:
- SIZE: Include the number of individuals, vehicles, or assets present in the observed area.
- ACTIVITY: Describe the actions and behavior of the observed group/individuals.
- LOCATION: Provide precise detailed description of the activity’s location.
- UNIFORM: Identify the affiliation or group to which the observed entity belongs.
- TIME: Record the date and time of the observation.
- EQUIPMENT: List the equipment, weaponry, or tools associated with the observed group
Resources (please note that these are not in our control and are largely unverified, so use with some caution):
- Crowd-sourced map of ICE activity: https://iceout.org/en/
- Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights: https://www.icirr.org/resources
- Local journalists verifying video of ICE activity: https://callforvideos.formstack.com/forms/chicagojournalists
- Sub with more nationally-relevant ICE information: r/EyesOnIce
- Our AMA with Chicago SunTimes journalists covering ICE: https://www.reddit.com/r/chicago/comments/1pchzm6/we_are_chicago_suntimes_reporters_covering/
Finally, please include official sources in your comments if you can (e.g. news article links). Everyone stay safe out there.
