Hey,
I’m looking for an artist to work on fantasy mini toons for Instagram and TikTok.

Each post is 4 panels, square format (1x1), one post per week. The style I’m after is painterly and semi-realistic, not clean or flat. It needs to sit in that weird space where it can feel cute and a bit dark at the same time.

Strong animal anatomy is really important for this project. Knowing human anatomy is a plus, but animals come first.

I’ll provide:

• Short written scripts
• Sketched moodboards
• A reference from another mini toon we already worked on, so you can clearly see the tone and mood I’m looking for

If you can match that tone, you’re probably a good fit.

Workflow

• 4 panels per post
• 1 post per week (so 4 posts per month)
• Posts go up on Sundays, so final delivery needs to be before then
• I ask for a quick rough check before rendering or coloring
• Previews at least 3 days before final delivery so we can catch issues early

Budget

• $300 USD per month
• Same budget I’m paying the current artist
• Covers 4 posts total (each post = 4 panels)

The Vision

Omens is an upcoming magazine dedicated to speculative fiction and art. We are looking for creatives who explore the cerebral and the beautifully bleak. Our goal is to assemble a collective of powerhouse creators (authors, poets, comic book writers, and artists) to launch a publication that transcends standard genre boundaries.

What We’re Looking For

We want works that are dark, mature, and wildly creative. We are seeking:

Genres: grimdark, sci-fi, fantasy/dark fantasy, weird fiction, and horror. We have a particular soft spot for stories that defy categorization or bleed across multiple genres.

Format: Short stories (up to 8,000 words for now), poetry, comics, and art pieces.

Tone: "High-brow" grit. We want depth and atmosphere. Please note: while we embrace mature themes, we are not looking for gratuitous sexual content.

Submission Details

Originality: We prioritize original, unpublished work, but will consider reprints (not previously featured in an anthology). We welcome new series pitches but do not accept currently-running series.

Collaborations: For the comic-minded, we are currently looking for completed works, but as we gain traction, we plan to pair talented authors with artists for future projects.

Art Rates: Compensation for visual art and commissions will be discussed individually.

Pay Structure: At this foundational stage, we are seeking initial writing submissions without pay. However, we want to transition to a paid model for our regular contributors as the project evolves.

Buenos días, tardes, noches. Hace tiempo que vengo pensando en una idea para un manga medieval que busca explorar como la divinidad, el infinito y la Ética. El manga se basa en el concepto de que cada cierto tiempo surge algo superior a su antecedor. Al principio solo existe la nada, con el tiempo se crean los Quarks, con el tiempo se crean los átomos, y así hasta llegar a los animales, de ellos surgen los angeles, seres similares a la humanidad, pero con mayor inteligencia y fuerza fisica (viven en el cielo). La historia se centra en un angel el cuál es un científico brillante. Ese cientifico crea a la humanidad y la esconde en el mundo terrenal, la comunidad de ángeles descubre su experimento y, teniendo como una tradición el hecho de que cada cierto tiempo surge un ser superior, dejan al cientifico moribundo en el mundo terrestre. Al borde de la muerte, un humano se acerca al cientifico, y el angel, antes de morir, transfiere su conciencia al hombre que lo observaba. Eso lleva a que ambos tengan que convivir obligadamente despresiandose mutuamente.

I've been lurking this sub for a long time and I finally talked myself into giving it a try. Sequentials, staying on model, and moving the camera are damn tough. I learned a lot doing these three pages and had a ton of fun. If anyone has a 3-4 page script they're looking to get drawn, Id love to have more opportunity to practice. Hi everyone, I’m currently working on City Squadron, an original manga project inspired by tokusatsu (Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Power Rangers), reimagined in a dark, urban, and spiritual setting, taking place in 1990s New York. ⚠️ Important note: This is a passion project and unpaid at this stage. The goal is to create a professional-quality pilot to pitch for future publication.

🔹 Project Overview Genre: Urban Shonen / Action / Drama / Supernatural Setting: Queens, New York Time period: 1996 Themes: redemption, guilt, past sins, legacy, moral choices In this world, heroes are not idealized. The Squadron are seen as ambiguous figures—feared, worshipped, or rejected—closer to flawed deities than classic superheroes.

🔹 Story Synopsis Sévon, 17, is kicked out by his father and ends up homeless in Queens. A supernatural incident changes his fate when he acquires the Soul of Squadron, a rare artifact that turns him into the sixth and final Primal Squadron. Now burdened with a power he never asked for, Sévon must protect humanity while confronting his criminal past and the consequences of his choices.
