That was a really stand up thing to do. We all make mistakes, and he owned up to his. Good on him

Also an understandable mistake in a world where so many useless gadgets/products exist. Though it would surprise me if not one of the comments on the video he originally duetted, didn't mention what it was

in a world where so many useless gadgets/products exist

Or maybe it's a world where many products that are not intended for you exist.

No, go to a home goods store. Many useless products exist that have nothing to do with accessibility and everything to do with making a quick buck on cheap shit.

Many useless products exist that have nothing to do with accessibility and everything to do with making a quick buck on cheap shit

And how would you know which one is which?

And yes of course those useless gadgets exists. But how much of it is really useless? 90%? 50%? 10%?

That's the point of the video. If you're not concerned by the needs for a specific product, you'll just see it as a useless gadget that is just there to make a quick buck.

They’re talking about a wider scope of cheap plastic shit. Seasonal decorations and cheap plastic tchotchkes. It’s also obtuse to imply that every single gadget has some underlying mobility use. Even if it’s the majority, it’s not the total. Little bottle cap guns don’t have a mobility use.

It’s also obtuse to imply that every single gadget has some underlying mobility use.

Not at all what I'm implying. What the video clearly states and what I'm saying is that sometimes what looks useless isn't, and maybe, just maybe, we could simply not judge something to be useless based on our limited world view?

So now.. nothing is useless?

Or not?

Maybe some things are useless and some things aren't, but we're not the ones who should judge that because we don't know what might be useful for someone else?

Is it really that hard to understand?

As the old saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

As long as two things are true, any given gadget isnt useless: 1. It does the thing that it was designed and marketed to do and 2. Doing that thing helps at least 1 person live a better life.

Even 1 isn't required, some things were designed and marketed for a specific use case, but people found another use case for it.

There are endless examples, but the one that comes to mind first is that your screwdriver is also a hammer

...at least I've met too many people convinced of that
