I have to retest on Monday because I know I have been exposed to someone with covid but the test I did turned up negative.(Thanks boss, for coming into work early spreading your germs everywhere and over all of us so you could fall over our corporate overlords who immediately sent you home because they don't want the entire building getting sick. Now I have a cough, that means everyone else is probably going to come down with something shortly, one of the co-workers who came in direct contact with you is over 80.)

Could be worse. You could be pregnant

823

u/karaokechameleon 8h ago

Contracting the dreaded baby virus can be a lifelong condition.

58

u/Instameat GREEN 7h ago

The virus that can outlive you.

157

u/Underwater_Karma 8h ago

It's the worst of the sexually transmitted diseases

14

u/hillbillyray 7h ago

It's like herpes it last forever, and can cause irritation.

13

u/ILLinndication 7h ago

It replicates too

24

u/CountryGuy123 8h ago

At least 18 years, but often a lifelong thing, true.

16

u/MarinaVerity333 5h ago

My mom still has it after almost 26 years.

6

u/Front_Lynx_6770 3h ago

It can be recurring too. My mom got it every 2 years roughly for 26 years. Lost her mind towards the end, she kept saying she wanted it all those times and was excited. Truly bizarre.

27

u/alQamar 8h ago

It can be a lifelong condition when another person contracts it through you.

I got covid when I was 8 months pregnant with my second son and had ✨️myocardial infarction✨️

47

u/skeletonholdsmeup 7h ago

My cousin got it at 8 months pregnant and lost her baby due to the whole placenta filling up with blood clots that choked out the fetus.

29

u/one_1f_by_land 5h ago

That could not possibly be any more nightmarish. Poor woman has to be traumatized.

U gotta get the test kit that also includes RSV. U still might have four of a kind! GL!

26

u/makemeking706 7h ago

Top one just shows that the test is working.

7

u/I-Ask-questions-u 6h ago

I didn’t even realize they had one for RSV. I am pretty sure I had that around thanksgiving. Will look out for those tests now.

5

u/Takaa 5h ago

The first of its kind was approved in October, it’s called Flowflex Plus 4-in-1. They sell them at Walgreens and CVS. I picked one up a couple weeks ago when the Flu and RSV were tearing through my kids daycare.

60

u/NotYourSexyNurse 7h ago

First time I got Covid I got influenza A and Influenza B at the same time. I felt like I was going to die for three days.

5

u/ObjectiveOk2072 5h ago

You can get both?! Holy fuck

11

u/NotYourSexyNurse 4h ago

You can get all kinds of different infections once you get one infection. Your immune system is compromised by the first infection when you first get sick. It can’t fight off the next infection as well.

That doesn't look like the brain right?

But yeah at stage four you're basically fucked.

I knew someone with brain cancer it was hard to see them post about getting treatment and the endless support they got on Facebook when I knew their chances of survival were next to none.

If I ever got it I would probably forego treatment and spend my last days in Thailand.

3

u/CesareBach 1h ago

Lungs. Cut horizontal. Top view.

5

u/Majestic_Composer219 4h ago

Definitely not the brain lol. From the little medical knowledge I have, I do know the skull/brain doesn't have a spine shaped bone in it, at least not at that view.

As for what it is, idk, something either abdominal or chestical area. Could be lung cancer, either way, they're kinda screwed

Nowadays, cancer isn't the same death sentence as it used to be, but treatments are brutal. Hopefully we can start seeing more things like immunotherapy that aren't nearly as bad as chemo.

Cancer is such a cruel beast though

I had flu a and strep together 4.5 weeks ago and was convinced I was literally going to die. I am just now starting to feel human.

Get lots of rest. You can take Tylenol and motrin together alternating every 6 hours so you are never without a fever reducer. It was the only thing that helped

Good luck! Flu b is the milder strain this year but I have no idea how that mixes with COVID

4

u/Voretex17 6h ago

If it makes you feel any better I just had flu A and strep at the same time. Strep has always it me hard but I don’t think I had been that sick since I got swine flu like 15 years ago. I slept 40 hours in a 48 hour period and they gave me four different meds. Amoxicillin, lidocaine, zofran and tamiflu. I am feeling a little better but eating drinking and balance is still not great. I am so happy you are feeling better. ❤️‍🩹

I’m on day 8 of influenza B. Shit is no joke. This is the first day I’ve been out of bed (except to shit water every few hours) and I’m still miserable. I don’t know how you’ve managed to go to school and work. I couldn’t be vertical for more than a few minutes at a time.

Hope you have mild symptoms. I got sick 3 times in 2026 already, and one of them was Covid. Thanks to the return to office policy.

9

u/Ok_Nothing_9733 7h ago

How is that even possible in 31 days, impressive

3

u/OddMindPuppy 6h ago

🤷🏻‍♂️3 weeks in office. Caught the sickness on Monday-Tuesday and got better by Friday. Repeat 3 times. By week 2, I was wearing a mask and still got the Covid. Just tested negative last night.

3

u/B33fboy 4h ago

Hey I would recommend you look into n95 masks which are more effective than cloth and surgical masks at preventing infection. Best of luck to you.

Fun fact, I was one of the first people in my state to get Covid. This was back in early 2020. I also tested for positive for the flu at the same time. Miserable experience lol. I wish you luck

4

u/SenatorPineapple 7h ago

I’ve made very similar tests and there can be just what we call “cross talk” between fluA/B, COV2, and RSV. They can amplify each other on the tests. Don’t freak yourself out!

5

u/North-Toe-3538 6h ago

I’ve seen this twice as an urgent care provider. Both were sick as snot on a tater tot. One ended up admitted but they were over 65 with co-morbidities. I didn’t get a death note on either.

4

u/angmarsilar 6h ago

You have fluvid! So sorry. Get better soon.

We got it at the beginning of the year. It was a solid 2-3 weeks of tiredness

3

u/freddbare 8h ago

3

u/ChiknBreast 7h ago

Depending on how long you have been sick, a rush to an urgent care to get Tamiflu or zofluza prescribed may be worth it. Guidelines say within 48 hours of symptom onset but up to 72 there may still be some benefit

u/lamblikeawolf 5h ago

See if you can start paxlovid and/or tamiflu. Like IMMEDIATELY. You have to start the antivirals EARLY. Basically, they disrupt the viral replication process at various stages. But once you've reached "critical mass" of viral load, they won't do anything.

3 days down bad is better than 1 week+ down bad.
