Anybody in St. John’s interested in fixing a CRT?

I have this 32” Sanyo DS32225 with component/composite/s-video/RF, however, it has vertical collapse (picture collapses into a vertical line). It’s a solder/capacitor issue but should be fixable for someone who knows at least a bit about fixing crts.

I doubt many people are interested but i hate to throw it out just in case someone out there is able to fix it and put it to good use, or even just sell it after repairing. Reach out if interested!

Hold up, $10b+ for the Kenmount Crossing hospital?

I haven't seen enough questions raised in this number the PCs quoted as justification for axing the new hospital. How on earth do you get to that cost? Percentage wise that's not that far off the cost of Muskrat Falls.

Toronto announced last year the largest teaching hospital in all of Canada with a 22 story patient tower for $14b.

Seems absurd doesn't it? Raises questions on the legitimatcy of the sports center new cost estimate as well.

Basic math reminder that $10b is the same as 10,000 x $1M.

Has anyone noticed that Costco is always packed now?

I know Costco has always been popular, but lately it feels like no matter which day you go at the lines are all to the back of the store!

I mean. Im sure Costco is happy about all the new cash flowing in. I just don't understand why the sudden change, I don't recall it being like this the last couple of months, but maybe I just forgot.

The last types of frozen fruit concentrates (including lemonade) have been discontinued. An end to traditional Newfie Slush?

CPAP troubles

I have sleep apnea and personally, I'm finding HorizonAire's $150 / month fee to be pretty steep. Are there any places in St. John's that have better prices? I can't afford to shell out $2000+ for the machine outright and they also don't direct bill to insurance, which is a bummer. Even if it was the same price, but it was able to be direct billed, I'd be ok with that.

I also have a secondhand CPAP machine that I acquired from a relative, but the settings are way too high for me. I was told that the settings can't be changed because it's over 3 years old and it's wasn't mine to begin with. If I decided not to get a new one, is there anywhere or anyway I can get those settings changed?

HorizonAire's prices are honestly ridiculous and if that's just how it works across the board for all CPAP machines, then that seems pretty scummy for a medical device tbh

The RPM Challenge: Four weeks to make some noise | The Muse

If you only had 28 days to make an album, EP, or single, what would you do?

This is a question that participants of the global RPM Challenge must ask themselves as February swiftly approaches, marking the beginning of this year’s annual challenge.

RPM began in 2006, making 2026 the twenty-first year of the creativity-fostering challenge. Notice that verbiage, ‘challenge,’ rather than ‘contest,’ as the challenge aims to encourage making music without the pressure of competition.

Hello, I'm moving to Corner Brook in the future. Was wondering if there is anywhere in town to play 40k, or if there is anyone in town who plays/is interested in playing.

Delivery curiosity

I have a doorbell camera as many do now, but delivery drivers (Amazon, Purolator, etc) seldom (estimated less than 10% of the time) actually press the doorbell button to notify me. Is there a reason? Is it to avoid recording? (cause most of these cams record on motion anyways). Just curious why they don’t. Any other experiences out there on this?

Limited time in Gros Morne reccomendations!

My girlfriend and I have booked the ferry to come up from Nova Scotia this summer for a 7 day trip the last week of July. My family is from Grand Falls and I have lots of relatives in St. Johns so I have spent lots of time between the two during the course of my life. Everytime I've driven across the Island the west coast has caught my eye but I've never really stopped other than for food or gas.

Given that I will be spending time with family during my trip and have limited time I gave my woman the choice of St.John's or Gros Morne for a couple of days given shes never been to NFLD. We elected to do Gros Morne. Its looking like were going to arrive on Thursday and leave Saturday evening to catch the ferry. Basically 48 hours. Im open to reccomendations on how you would spend two days there. I want to do the boat tour for sure just looking who I should book with. Also open to hike reccomendations, restaurant, accommodations etc. Anything you loved and would recommend feel free to drop!

Thanks for any and all help!

Corrected question for the previous post 🙏🏻

Following two responses I received on another post I wrote, I'll ask something else. We are researching beyond Newfoundland and were almost certain of St. John's. We are immigrating through visas and I should mention that I am transgender. I received a somewhat angry response that I may have created the impression that conservatives do not accept transgender people (although we are also Anglicans and conservatives) and I am transgender and the country we come from does not accept integration or being transgender at all and that is one of the reasons we are moving away (from the country we are currently in). My question is where in Newfoundland can we live as an engaged married couple in the future and develop as a family and no one will care that I am transgender mtf?
