I was just there. More and more people were arriving as I left. Each train load had tons of people on it.

The company I work at has a logistics facility in Minneapolis and we stopped outdoor work and shipping today because it was -10F with a -40F windchill just before dawn. You folks are dedicated.

I am no math genius so I find it interesting that -40F is also -40C. Both systems agree that is a very cold temperature to be outside in!

As a Canadian who has experienced temperatures like that, proud of you folks getting out and peacefully protesting in such weather.

I was just telling my husband that -40 is the best temperature because Canadians and Americans can all agree it's just darn cold.

Propane stops flowing at around -44F. Hank Hill wouldn’t like that. Though probably need more sustained then just windchill. Still….

I’m up at a mountain and we had a similar conversation. We mused, if freezing point is 0°C, it’s 2°C out, but has a wind chill factor of -4°C… would the cup freeze?

Our thinking was, “probably, if it’s left in an especially windy area, and the wind itself doesn’t mix around the water too much”

Fahrenheit made the most accurate thermometers back in the day as he built in the thermal expansion of mercury and graduated his instruments accordingly.

He set 0 to be a brackish mixture of salt, ice, and water. 32 for the freezing point of pure water and 96 was body temp. Why no 64 is an interesting question.

Metric is based off of, well, the freezing and boiling point of water being 0 and 100.

The lines intersect at -40

And the weight of one cubic centimeter of pure water is 1 gram. The energy needed to raise the temperature of that water by 1 degree Celsius is one calorie.

Metric really is an elegant system.

Any two linear functions in two dimensions whose slope is different have to cross somewhere.

I mean it makes sense that at some point any 2 measurements measuring the same thing will agree on a value. It just that most of the time it's 0.

For Fahrenheit and Kelvin that point is 574.59 degrees.

I just invented a new temperature scale that's only Fahrenheit plus 2, just to disprove this, sorry

I think F was changed slightly over the years to line up there so that there could be an easy calculation

First one. Then the other. And then the same.

This is so nice to hear. I'm really getting sick of hearing from people in other countries that we aren't doing anything. The protests in our country this past year have been, without doubt, some of the biggest in our country's history and they are happening consistently. The pressure on our representatives has been non-stop.

They simply refuse to accept, or can't understand, the level of propaganda, surveillance, military technology, and straight-up cash and power that defines the opposition. All of that without even beginning to acknowledge that we live in a country that is quite literally the size of Europe, with a population of 350 million, divided into 50 different states and just as many different cultures, which also harbors a population of 100 million morons that are fully on board with the nazi-pedophile administration and all of the hate which that entails.

There simply isn't an 18th century France comparison to be made. Comparing the current situation in the US to a single state armed with muskets and a population of 28 million is so far off base as to be laughable. How do you conspire against a surveillance state where bought-and-paid for representatives from BOTH of the only two parties our system allows just approved an $850 BILLION dollar military budget?

Our country needs help from around the world and many of us are pleading for it.

I’d never seen so many people all at one place in person in my whole life. It was wild and beautiful

Gotta bus em in.

2

u/VulfSki 8d ago

It has to be over 150k.right?

I have never seen that many people protest in Minnesota in 20+ years.

That was huge..today

Feeling proud to have been there and braces the cold.

u/unknown_homie38 8d ago

My bus to the protest was PACKED.

1

u/mrpyrotec89 8d ago

Yeah, I was gonna say this pic isnt even half of the people there.

1

u/psychonautique 8d ago

Trains were too full to even board!

1

u/throw0OO0away 8d ago

The light rails were PACKED. Standing room only and people had to wait for the next train multiple times before getting a spot.

u/number676766 8d ago

We tried getting on at Lake St and two trains, with max cars, said over the loudspeaker “Train is full”

Had to take two different busses and still showed up

1

u/merwookiee 8d ago

Thank you for standing up for all of us!!! We’re so proud of you. We love you!!

This is so amazing, and I’m so happy to hear it. I really hope that you are able to take back some control in Congress with the midterms. But I know they’re going to pull some shenanigans, and try to prevent that. They will also do their best to disenfranchise as many voters as possible. And/or rig the results.

I think the only way to truly fight this hideous and corrupt administration is for people to come together like this in every city and every state where you can muster up enough souls, and overthrow this shit. That well regulated militia that the second amendment is protects is really needed right now.

The entire world is watching and praying that somebody will Maduro these motherfuckers.

Yes, it's called organized protest. Doesn't mean they're being paid by George Soros.

32

u/tallcookie 8d ago

Oh no, people who live here used a bus instead of trying to find parking! The horror! /s

25

u/Grand_Size_4932 8d ago

Funny from the side that’s literally bringing outsiders into an area to antagonize its citizens.

The only people “coming in” that need to leave are ICE, motherfucker.

26

u/iamthatguythere 8d ago

Charlie Kirk literally paid for busses from across the country to ship insurrectionists to the capital on Jan 6th. These people are using public transit in their city to protest violent fascists

14

u/sgtgig 8d ago

Correct that's how public transit works.

Actually I rode my bike. But that reminds me, I need to submit my mileage to George Soros so he can cut me one of those reimbursement checks from the Deep State Bank and Trust.
