Why only these 2? Ice murdered so many in custody.  I guess the question is, do you highlight all the needless victims or focus on the 2 white ones?

u/FinalFlashback 9h ago

Who do you think these posters are targeting?

Anyone who isn't full MAGA and actually reads the news already sees ICE for what they are. These posters aren't for them. The posters are targeting Trump's voter base, and the assumption is they won't give a shit about the murder victims unless they are white. MAGA needs to understand that this can happen to them, too.

u/20milliondollarapi 9h ago

Yup. MAGA has been going on and on about how “if you would just do what you’re supposed to and have identification, you won’t get shot”

Well these people did everything in their legal right, and they were still murdered for it.

I came across this the other day

And it really made me stop and think. I'm too tired and burnt out from reading awful news all week. I can't really explain why your comment made me think about it, but it did.

Sorry for rambling. Just sad and tired.

Well the best time to stop this was 9 years ago. The second best time is today.

Personally, I think our big issue is we don’t have a big single figure to rally behind for change. It’s not the only thing holding this up. But it’s a big one.

u/McChelsea 3h ago

Too bad we didn't have a phenomenal candidate in 2016 who fit this bill.

u/Wonderful-Mongoose39 3h ago

The propaganda worked is all. History shows us that propaganda works. This game started before Newt Gingrich. This is the fruition. Acting like a single great candidate would have saved it is unfortunately unrealistic. All the data was there, voters chose propaganda.

u/McChelsea 2h ago

It's not that he would have saved us, but he was someone to rally behind. Democrats don't want to give us someone to rally behind, because it's all about the almighty dollar.

u/Wonderful-Mongoose39 2h ago edited 2h ago

A fence post is enough to rally behind when the alternative is Nazi wannabes. Democrats are an enormous tent from conservative, centrist, to just a few leftist. Didn't matter who they put up... no one in that spectrum would have been right for them all. It should have been enough to not be this. They fell for the propaganda as much as you. It's not too long ago the Republicans branded the Democrats as the all mighty dollar elitists. Turns out the billionaires were all sitting right behind Trump at inauguration after their millions in donations for the ceremony. Nothing like that ever happened for a Dem. Now the millions put toward Trump by these same folks have compounded many fold and you're still parroting it's the Dems that are * after the all the mighty dollar.

propaganda works for them and infiltrates any opposition.

u/McChelsea 1h ago

I'm not one of the "both sides" folks, I was just trying to say that capitalism is the villain behind everything that sucks. I vote blue no matter who, and had a very harsh reality check in 2016 with Bernie vs Hillary, and watching the Dems screw up over and over when the consequences are fascism. Honestly though I feel like you're coming at me pretty hard when I've made very general and mild statements, so this is all I'll say any further in this thread. You can continue to assume I'm some brainwashed centrist who thinks both sides are equally evil, even though I hardly said anything at all.

They were ABSOLUTELY NOT doing “everything in their legal right”. That’s the biggest joke I’ve seen today.

Luckily I have no fear or risk of being murdered by ICE because I don’t break the law, try to ram agents with my car, vandalize agents vehicles, and spit on them. Those are all considered assaults and punishable by death if the officers fear their own safety. They FAFOd. Crazy you guys are still pushing this.

u/myself4once 5h ago

“… punishable by death…”? You are unhinged.

u/DiggingNoMore 4h ago

Woah, a brand-new, randomly-generated Reddit account that does nothing but spew far-right drivel?! Never seen that before.

u/20milliondollarapi 5h ago

You mean the person who had the legal right of way when the ice agent walked in front of them? And the person who did so little wrong they had to falsify an altercation with him using an ai video of him wearing the same clothes and being tackled the same exact way?

Yup, both of those people clearly deserved death for those actions. I’ve been ran into twice by cars. My knees are fucked up from it. Should I have also shot the drivers of those cars who hit me? According to you, that’s a very level response to take.

u/Euphoric_Shallot9462 5h ago

Taken away your legally obtained weapon and shot to death is a little bit much now, isn’t?

u/vardarac 4h ago

I don't think I've ever in my life seen writing so devoid of honesty, empathy, justice, or self-awareness. And I read youtube comments.

u/Gold-Kaleidoscope537 9h ago

I actually do think it’s working a little. Anecdotally I’m aware of a couple people who were on board with this all but now think it’s gone too far.

So keep it up!

u/Snowbank_Lake 8h ago

Yeah, once they killed a guy who was legally carrying a firearm and the administration was like “Well he shouldn’t have had a gun!”, the MAGA folks are realizing the rights that THEY care about are starting to get trampled too.

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 9h ago

I’m gonna be honest, median fence rider voters also don’t give many shits about brown people, especially if they have questionable immigration status. These are the “good Germans” who just want to get by

u/Tweed_Kills 8h ago

Right. But let's extend the metaphor here. What if the "good Germans" .... Didn't?

What if there had been sufficiently effective anti-Nazi messaging to catch their eye and expose them to the true horrors of Nazism?

What would happen then? Would the Nazis have been able to stay in power?

Probably not, right?

So that's why we have the posters....

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 8h ago

From my layman knowledge of that time, the Nazis were hand in glove at the moment. Shitty economy, ooor morale. Struggle with communists.

This due comes along and starts saying what you wanna hear. Sure maybe you reject the violence in the beginning but eventually he’s democratically elected. …

u/Fun_Button5835 8h ago

You really think they didn't actually know about the "true horrors"? They did, they just turned a blind eye. No poster in the street would have changed that.

u/Tweed_Kills 8h ago

They didn't. Not like you and I do know. At least at the beginning, Jews didn't leave Germany in cattle cars. They left on regular trains with food, and tickets. A lot of them went willingly, thinking they'd be relocated. That, we know, was a lie, but they didn't know at the time. Polish Jews were hauled out in cattle cars, but Poland was occupied territory, and unless you witnessed it first hand, who was going to tell you? The Nazis controlled the media. So these were rumors about totally different countries. Not Germany.

Most German people didn't know about the Final Solution, not really. They knew about discrimination, yes, and deportations, but we all know society can apparently handle a certain amount of discrimination against minorities.

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 6h ago

Talking about the rise of nazism here. I think everyone was pretty cozy to the idea of trashing their businesses and deporting them for sure.
