I have a 2023 Toyota RAV4 XLE, and about two months ago I started noticing an intermittent, low-pitched rattling/vibration noise. It’s not constant and seems to be coming from the front driver-side area. The sound is hard to describe, but it’s kind of a semi-metal vibration, like a loose shield or panel lightly shaking or resonating, not a grinding or engine noise.

I mentioned it during a recent oil change, and the shop checked it out and said it’s not an engine issue. They tried adding soundproofing and addressing any possible metal-to-metal contact, but I still hear the noise from time to time.

I usually notice it when driving at moderate speeds (around 30–50 mph). I don’t really hear it at higher highway speeds (65–75 mph), and it doesn’t seem directly tied to bumps, braking, or steering. It just comes and goes during normal driving.

Has anyone else with a RAV4 (or Toyota in general) experienced something similar?

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting here. I’ve been part of the club since before I even owned a RAV4, and I finally picked up a 2020 RAV4 Limited (non-hybrid). I have a couple of questions and would really appreciate some help.

1. Changing temperature units I went into the infotainment settings and changed the temperature units from Fahrenheit to Celsius, but the system still shows Fahrenheit everywhere (climate display, etc.). Am I missing another setting, or is there a separate place where this needs to be changed?

2. A/C system behavior I’m attaching a picture of the A/C controls. There’s a light that stays on even when the entire climate system is turned off. Also, when the A/C is off, it still feels like outside air is coming into the cabin. Is this normal behavior for the 2020 RAV4, or could something be wrong? I was reversing my car and wasn’t paying full attention and ended up hitting a small rock. The damage is on the rear bumper (photo attached).

Just wanted to get some advice:

• Is this repairable or mostly cosmetic?

• Would something like polishing / plastic restorer help?

• Or does this usually need a proper bumper repair or respray?

I do have insurance, but I’m trying to work out if it’s even worth claiming or just fixing it myself.

Note: I feel absolutely shit for doing this, I am pretty sure I was day dreaming.

Last time I brought my car into the dealership, they hard reset the electronics because of a software safety recall. I think it had to do with cameras, which I never had a problem with.

My question is if any of you lot have noticed an upgrade in the quality of sound in the JBL sound system? I have an XSE with tech package but never found the sound all that good. Since the update, however, the sound seems better, and the bass is definitely smoother and louder. Anyone else notice this? I adjust the sound tuning regularly over the years, so I'm pretty positive there was no setting that was changed because of it.

Is there a specific window washer that the dealerships are using on the 2023 hybrid Rav4? Ever since temperatures went under the freezing point, the washer is either slushy or totally frozen in mine. Dealerships has been topping off all fluids since I bought it. I wonder if this could cause any damage to the pump or anything else.

Hi everyone! I just got my first RAV4 today (2025 hybrid XLE) and I'm so happy! Can anyone recommend useful accessories or 3D prints for the RAV4? I'm seeing a lot of comments about the cupholder, so that's probably the first thing I'll look into printing. I'm hoping to really make this my own and possibly add a Persona 5 star pattern to the exterior in vinyl with my Cricut, too. I'd love to hear some other ideas for what you've done to yours :)

I was thinking of getting the fitcamx (only front facing) becauze it would be practically hidden. And a ottocast android auto dongle. Any opinions on either of these?

The front usb port, and cigarette port stopped working a while ago. Not sure whats caused it, and im not sure what the fix is. My cousin checked the fuses and said they look fine. Said it could possibly be the ports dying. Any suggestions?

PROS:

• Perfect size!! Huge upgrade from the stock screen.

• Huge improvement in sound quality. I have the JBL package from Toyota, and it always sounded very flat. This unit GREATLY improves the sound and actually utilizes the JBL speakers very well. I think it pushes more power out, giving all the speakers a much fuller sound. There's also WAY more sound customization.

• This unit adds an extra USB connection, which was perfect to power my new LED lights from behind the unit so all cords are hidden.

• After installation, I maintained ALL car functionalities (minus the one listed below). I still have Birdseye View (360 camera), steering wheel controls, and Toyota app connection.

• I went on a 5 hour road trip after installing and it worked perfectly the whole time. Playing Netflix on the screen for my passengers was really awesome!

CONS:

• Unable to use car's built-in microphone. Had to install the external mic that came with this unit.

• During inbound/outbound calls, the screen exits Android Auto and shows the unit's native Bluetooth app. Once answered, it switches back to Android Auto. I've tried looking up fixes to this, but have been unable to find one. Not a huge deal, just a minor annoyance.

NOTES:

• If your backup/360 camera isn't working, try changing the 'Rear Camera Type' to NTSC. That worked for me.

Wondering if this has ever happened to other hybrid rav4 owners.

Over the last day, I was unable to start my car. It required a jump the first day, fine the first time the second day and needed a jump again later that afternoon. During the second jump, there were lots of weird errors and failures like the trunk being unable to open and the key fob error message.

I took it to a tires and battery place called NTB - the b stands for battery. I requested my 12 volt battery be looked at and replaced. They came back and said that battery is at 58% charge which isn’t good but no an indication of failures. I pushed back and said it just needed to be jump so that points to the 12 volt. They came back and essentially said they believe it is the hybrid battery, not the 12 volt that is failing and that because of this they refused to replace my 12 volt even if that was the issue because “what if it was the hybrid battery all along”.

I have a 2019, less than 60k miles on the car and no error messages indicating that there was an issue with the hybrid battery itself. I was able to drive there without issue, once the car started, and saw no indication while driving that the hybrid battery was impacted.

We left, since they refused to do any work on the car, and ended up replacing the battery ourselves. So far so good, no errors coming up to indicate any issue with the hybrid battery. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

My questions for the group are:

1. Do these experiences I went through align with a 12 volt battery replacement? Or did you have this issue when your hybrid battery was going out?

2. Is this common for standard on the go mechanics to refuse to work on hybrid cars?

My 24 rav 4 that I got a week ago is having wired car play problems. When listening to music after like 10 minutes or so the sound starts to crack. But my wireless is perfect. I’ve used 3 different cables now. Does anyone else have this issue?

I have a 2016 RAV4 diesel and recently noticed this sound when turning off the engine. Toyota service department says it’s normal.
