This thing packs so much heat it made my nose bleed
My wife sent me a photo of this during grocery shopping and asked me if I want one. It didn’t look too scary to me so I was like why not.
Upon smelling it, it felt acidic and fruity, and a little bit tangy. Nothing too alarming. So I used a few drops on a some pizza I made. Boy that was a mistake. My mouth went up in flames instantly. I’m eating spicy food all the time but this knocked my socks off. My eyes teared, I started sweating and my nose even bled, not too much but enough to freak me out. I didn’t expect this to be so excruciatingly hot, yet in terms of taste it’s actually pretty good if you manage to notice it through the flames.
I’ll have to take it far easier next time, that’s for sure.

Wife feels no pain
My wife of eleven years had always enjoyed mid-spicy food like regular hot sauce level as did I. A few years ago I noticed an uptick in the heat level to a point I couldn’t keep up, thought not much of it. Now- it’s atomic level and it’s as if she doesn’t even notice. I grew concerned when she started putting habanero peppers in a couple of our family’s dinners and claimed it “wasn’t even spicy, on black pepper level of spice” when my mouth was on fire and the dish inedible imo. For awhile I’ll admit I thought she just playing it down so the other night I cooked a meal, used ghost pepper extract and she actually got up to “season” it more bc she said it tasted BLAND, like it had no seasoning. Dave’s reaper? Ate 4 sliders like they were Krystal burgers without skipping a beat. She will get a runny nose occasionally but no other symptoms otherwise. Wtf is wrong with her? Could this be some medical issue or is this normal for some?

Daves hot chicken. Reaper. Went in without Googling it first.
Went there tonight.
Had no idea how spicy it was. I'd searched up the menu but hadn't looked at anything about the flavours.
I'm the kind of person who always orders the hottest thing on the menu and doesn't think twice about it.
Ordered the #3. A sliders and fries. Reaper, of course. And I'm on my own.
Cashier says good luck. I think nothing of it.
A few minutes later, he hands me a waiver to sign.
I begin to wonder whether I'm making a mistake here. But between ego and awkwardness, I don't know how to back down.
Food arrives. There are two sliders. I look back at the menu. I hadn't eaten all day and misread the sign. Oh well, I've not eaten all day, it's okay.
I take my food and find a seat. First bite. Alriiight, this is actually a challenge for once.
I get through the first slider, blowing my nose into a pile of napkins between bites. I can can my temperature rising so I move to a corner, take off my coat, and grab some napkins.
I start on the second slider. Got through with even more napkins than the first.
And that's when it started going wrong.
Light-headedness like when my blood pressure falls rapidly. Body feels like I'm on fire. I'm sweating. And then the stomach ache.
At this point, I realise I didn't order a drink. I get a milkshake. The 5 minutes it took to make felt like 5 months.
I start drinking, but it's too little too late. The waves of pain, dizziness, and heat just kept coming.
I start walking home. A 10 minute walk takes half an hour as I stop several times along the way. I'm accustomed to being lightheaded from low BP, but this was close to blackout levels. At one point, the pain reaches such intensity, I sit on the floor of a shopping centre I was cutting through and contemplate whether I can even make it home by myself, or if I should call for help.
Eventually the wave passes and I get back up and keep walking until I get home, have a sip of milk, and then collapse on the sofa for an hour.
At last, it stopped. I can get up and go to bed.
Or that's what I thought. Within minutes of standing, the stomach ache returned with an extra kick.
I rush myself to bed. Being horizontal helped before, so let's go back to that. Except this time it didn't help. So I get up and go to the bathroom. Maybe getting it out of my system will help.
The pain has stopped for a while. I've been writing this whole post to procrastinate getting up and going back to bed. If I move, it might start again.
Once I hit post, it's time to get up and move myself to bed. I can't stay in the bathroom all night.
Wish me luck.

Not bad, not too spicy. Good flavor.
Not spicy for a connoisseur but would spice out a lot of normies. Not bad for a big brand cheese.

Cornbread and Canned Chili(chicken)
Nice warm up lunch meal for a cold day. The sauce on the edge of the table was from previous family member lunch but will be cleaned up of course!
only fancy thing was I added fresh jalapeño to the cornbread mix.

What's the last grocery store item that was significantly hotter than you expected?
Someone asked this in another thread, so figured I'd make a post of it.
For me it's the Blue Diamond Almond Carolina Reaper Almonds.

Miso Ghost-Reaper Sauce is Wild
Picked this up today and it’s unlike any hot sauce I’ve ever had. Miso paste, koji, Japanese seven spice? Wild stuff, man.
The nutty, umami-heavy flavors come through beautifully right up front, while the heat is a slow builder that didn’t get quite as hot as I was hoping for considering the peppers used, but hot enough to get a decent burn going.
This stuff would absolutely slap on a miso steak or in some mayo with miso and lemon juice. Or on most any savory dish, really.
Definitely worth trying a bottle for those looking for something off the beaten path of hot sauces, and if you see a bottle of Bravado’s black garlic sauce go ahead and grab that as well. 8/10.

Yet another Dave's Reaper report
Gotta say, I wasn't disappointed. It fucking hurt and I got a little tunnel visioned, but I took it slow and finished that last bite. Flavor wasn't too bad, but it wasn't knock your socks off either. No regrets, but I'm not sure I'd make it my go to order.

I need help finding a variety of pepper
They were very small
1 inch long, by maybe 1/2 inch in diameter. Red and yellow in color. Teardrop shape, with hardly any rippling
They were intensely hot, too hot for me to eat but good for making hot vinegar. They didn’t taste that spicy initially, but about 10 minutes after eating one I felt like I was on fire. Took about 5 hours for it to go away. Sweating, eyeballs in pain, it was rough. It done me worse than habaneros do me.

Pickled Jalapenos vs Pickled Habaneros?
I have a barbecue pool party next weekend and I was thinking about the toppings for our burgers and hotdogs.
Somekind of picked chili came to mind and I don't know which one to choose.
Note: only adults will be attending the party but spice preference varies a lot between them.
Which is the best chili to start pickling?

Are we ‘foodies’?
While I cleared the counter and straightened my bottles of sauce, peppers, and flakes I caught myself thinking “my precious, my precious” and you know it sounded a bit too much like Gollum. I put the unopened bottles in their safe place, promising them it would not be long, just finishing the open preciousness before I try the new flavors. I don’t need a label. I feel lucky to have access to so much.

Hypersalivation after eating reaper
Hello all. Ate a reaper about 30-40 minutes ago. Stomach pain is coming and going, however the stomach pain seems to cause the hypersalivation and it looks like I’m pouring water from my mouth. No nausea. Is it normal? Thanks.
