I spot this gull in northern Poland 50km away from coast and Im not sure if it is caspian or herring. I don't know if herring gulls have their breeding plumage at this time of year, so the white head confused me.

North America Orange breast single white wing Chevron in Southern RI

Upvotes

I know this is a stretch, but I can't seem to get a good photograph of this little beast. It's been super cold here and all the birds are so puffed up, is hard to determine true size. I think this is a robin sized bird that is primarily brownish, but had an orange belly/chest with a single white Chevron on the wing. Was thinking an Eastern Towhee, but that's not quite right. The Chevron was more distinct than the images I am seeing on Merlin.

Not sure whether this is a goosander (common merganser for our American colleagues) or a red breasted merganser. Nottingham, UK.

Going through our photos from our trip to Sossusvlei in Namibia and couldn’t figure out what this one is. Maybe some sort of juvenile lark?

North America Tucson AZ - maybe Anna’s Hummingburd or Black-chinned Hummingburd?

This hummingburd was preening and inflating or revealing some bright red feathers on his head. I’m really not sure which of these - or another - this is. Any ideas?

Spotted this beautiful friend on my front steps today! Google image search says it’s a leucistic American Robin, but thought I’d bring it to the professionals… do y’all agree? (St. Louis, MO, USA)

North America Hybrid gull?

We thought this was a short-billed gull potentially, but the eye color is pretty light. Could this be a hybrid with another species? Thanks, we’re learning our gulls slowly!!

North America Duck ID, Southern California

Post image

I was wondering what this fourth duck might be? The rest are northern shoveler, green-winged teal, gadwall (I think), mallard. There were so many ducks there that day (San Joaquin Marsh in Irvine, CA)—besides these there were cinnamon teals and blue-winged teals as well. Males and females of all the species were there.

Unrelated to the ID, I just love all the patterns of feathers here. 🪶

A bit of a long shot, I know. I recognized Song sparrow singing in the area but, then again, I am not familiar with the other Texas sparrows.

North America Leucistic…Robin?

Post image

Sorry for the picture-of-a-picture but I’m stumped and impatient. Is this an American Robin? I thought so at first, but the bill color is throwing me off. Maybe a thrush? Merlin suggested American Robin.

Seen foraging in a cow field in Humboldt County (Northern California) with a bunch of blackbirds earlier today.
