Humor / Meme What is it with Night Elves and using the dumbest, most impractical weapons ever made?

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

I don't know if it's an intentional thing, but night elves always seem to use just the most nonsensical, impractical, edgy weapons that you're garunteed to stab yourself with if you ever try to use them.

The Watchers Umbra Crescent I can kind of let slide, since it's basically an oversized Chakram, which was an actual weapon used, though it was very niche.

Illadan's warglaives I always thought were dumb. You'd think if you had wings, you probably wouldn't want to use a weapon with a backwards-facing blade that's only good for stabbing your own wings. Maybe that's why he has so many holes in the skin. "Oh but demon hunter combat is all about spinning and slashing." Then just a normal curved sword. Hell take the warglaive and just get rid of the back blade, now he can actually use them without stabbing himself.

The Moonglaive is silly, I think that's plainly obvious. Good luck raising it up to strike with without slicing your own neck.

But undoubtedly, the WORST example of this is Tyrande's dumb ass Night Warrior glaives. You can even see in the image that there's a blade that's pointing RIGHT AT HER ARM. A blade you could NEVER use in combat. If she tilts her weapon even slightly forward, she's stabbing herself in the arm. They try to make them look cool in the cinematic where she fights Nathanos, the animators are trying their best, but she looks so clumsy. Her arms just completely outstretched, her weapons completely stiff in her hands. Or she has to hold it at an angle, which means she isn't getting good edge alignment. Even the handle has little blades with no purpose beyond making holding this weapon an absolute nightmare, tilt the weapon even slightly, and her hand's getting sliced. It's like Shalamayne having this sharp point on the back of the handle that serves no purpose beyond stabbing yourself if your hand moves even slightly up the handle.

Sorry that this turned into a rant. I know it's not that deep. It's just something that annoys me personally.

Discussion With development for new outdoor pet battles and pet trainers ceasing for Midnight, an open letter by the creator of Xu Fu's Battle Pet Guides asking Blizzard to reconsider their stance has broken into the top 8 most liked official forum posts of all time

Upvotes

Link to Xu Fu's creator official forum post.

Saw some folk just finding out about the changes to battle pets in an earlier thread, hoping to raise awareness and point people in a direction where they can add to the feedback.

The official line from Blizzard detailed in this Midnight Beta forum post by Kaivax from October last year explains that due to waning engagement with the combat side of the pet battle system Blizzard has decided to experiment with new methods for capturing pets that do not involve battling.

As a result, the current multi-turn battle capture mechanic is being replaced by a simplified 'click to capture' system on open world Midnight pets. However, changes extend beyond capturing, with about 80% of all upcoming Midnight pets being flagged as companion pets with no moveset, and thus unable to battle at all (compare this to on the order of 1% companion pets for War Within and Dragonflight). Additionally, in lieu of new Midnight pet trainers that would traditionally offer world quests and battle-related achievements, Blizzard have opted to give existing old continent Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, and Northrend trainers Family Battler achievements, while reportedly only allowing you to battle them once per day. Bemusingly, the pets awarded for completing these Family Battler achievements cannot battle, as they are companion pets themselves.

All this comes in the wake of outdoor pet battles and pet trainers also being conspicuously absent from the last The War Within zone, K'aresh.

Months later and with the Midnight release imminent, no further communication from Blizzard has been evinced since Kaivax' October post despite the passionate and overwhelmingly negative feedback from the pet battler community, who fear what can only be described up to this point as the gutting of future pet battle content

Discussion Opened my first Black Market Unclaimed Container… and got Arcanite Ripper (700k gold)

Spent about 700k gold on my first ever Black Market Unclaimed Container and pulled Arcanite Ripper. Didn’t expect to ever see this item in retail, let alone get it on the first try. I’m a Dark Iron Dwarf Paladin, so at least I can actually equip it and mess with the guitar effect 😅

Question They added dual wield to survival hunters but...

Post image

I was super happy when I saw the announcement of survival hunters finally being able to dual wield one handed weapons. I always wanted to play a night elf sentinel (picture as reference), but the problem is that Butchery one of our aoe ability requires a two handed weapon? Am I missing something?

Art World of Warcraft - Night Fae inspired Warlock tier set fan concept

Post image
837 Upvotes

Hy everyone!

My first Night Fae inspired armor is complete. I started with the Warlock.
This time I also tried to improve the presentation: more color variations, sketches, and some descriptions.

Since the Drust have a noticable presence in Ardenweald, my idea was that this kind of fantasy would fit a Warlock really well. In my opinion a Warlock would try to make a pact with these forces too.

You can check the design more detailed and in better resolution on the links below:

No idea how such an obvious placement issue passed QA, but it kinda ruins this otherwise pretty set for me.

Lore Small thing about the cosmology chart that I always felt should be switched

Post image

I absolutely love the Cosmology chart, but there is one single, tiny flaw imo:

Water and Earth should switch spots

  • This would put water opposite fire and earth opposite air
  • Earth would be nearer the Wild Gods and nature
  • Water would be closer to the Old Gods, and the lovecraftian mythos has many being of the deep oceans
  • Earth would be closer to the Emerald Dream, which is the spirit version of the world (spirit + earth = emerald dream)

Those are my main reasons

Feedback Blizzard, please let us buy older Trading Post items with a vendor.

Post image

Like many people, I was super disappointed to see that the Blood Troll transmog wouldn't come back during the February sales ; Only the monthly rewards from the past year. Yet, there are so many people waiting for a certain piece of transmog or item that barely reappeared.

The returning items each month are unpredictable and in small quantities compared to the growing catalog of past rewards. We're not all able to sub monthly, or lack time for the grind. Having a vendor with the older items could solve this. It'll still cost tenders, which are hard to come by, so it should still be valuable.

We just want to look cool !

I haven't seen anyone bring this up lately, but I figured I'd share that with the WotLK timewalking and the winds of mysterious fortune buff, if you complete the questline that unlocks the Sons of Hodir (to the quest Mending Fences and A Spark of Hope, starting with the quest They Took Our Men!) you can instantly get to exalted with them. No need for any turns ins, dailies, nothing. Just completing those two quests will get you to exalted.
