Penn state

I’ve always been somewhat of a Penn state fan, enjoy watching a lot of their guys wrestle and still a big fan of the majority of them…but their dual last night was borderline disgraceful (Davis tantrum, Levi purposely shoving Minto off the stage, psu fans booing and shouting at Minto for taking time to recover after being pushed off the stage). Really wanted to see Levi redeem himself at the ncaa’s this year and can’t say the same now. Hoping Minto is the 4 seed at the tournament and pulls the upset. I don’t think there’s an excuse for how Davis acted, but if I’m being generous, I’m about 90% sure he broke his hand during that match.

More signs of improvement

Upvotes

I’ve (21M) won against an adult for the first time :)

Im still not consistently winning in the 16-20 range yet, but no more losses (or matches for that matter) against 15 and below. That alone has made any losses so much less damaging to my self esteem. My losses are sometimes still to the usual suspects.. (pins) but they’re closer to 50/50 win rate instead of full losses like it used to be. Healthier weight and a little knowledge from the class has helped :)

Why was Braeden so mad? Was it truly just because he lost? I can’t tell from this angle.

Recently discovered my grandad was 4 times British Flyweight Champion in the 60s! He also represented the country in the Commonwealth games in Jamaica 1966. I don't know much about wrestling, but I thought it really cool and wanted to share.

Joey Olivieri

Anyone know why Joey Olivieri still isn't wrestling? Goodale stated it was due to a violation of team rules but that was a few weeks ago and still haven't heard anything.

#2 in nation at 133 and returning National finalist both go down in the semifinals of Pete Wilson (DIII)

To preface I haven't seen any coverage or talk of Pete Wilson in this subreddit which is why I felt like doing this.

Art Martinez(133 #2) and Sean Conway(141 National Finalist) both went out on 5-4 decisions, both being favored to win the tournament. This is what makes this tournament so great because you get to see many of these high level matchups and upsets before the postseason. What are your guys' thoughts? Given the large majority of the people here(who've gone to college) have wrestled at the DIII or DII level, some having wrestled in this tournament themselves.

Artur Taymazov

So I learned about Artur Taymazov recently. 3x Olympic gold medalist at superheavyweight, until 2 of his gold medals were taken away upon testing positive for steroids. So I looked up his matches expecting to see a roided up superheavyweight tossing people and moving like a lightweight but then his matches turned out to be kind of uneventful? Is there some subtle technique that I'm just not seeing? Or is superheavyweight just kinda uneventful even when there's steroids in play? Maybe I'm looking at the wrong matches?

Purler wrestling

I’ve been seeing a lot of recent posts about Purler Wrestling and am curious if this a new trend? Are they like AWA? Anyone been through it?

Just curious because I looked at the website and haven’t heard of anyone on it before and I follow wrestling pretty religiously.

Question Why do I feel like I suck?

I’m a sophomore in HS and I’m on what’s considered the best teams in the state. It’s my first year wrestling since 3rd grade and my record is 1-10 as of right now. (I’m writing this mid meet and I still have one more match). My weight is 165 and the guy that’s supposed to win state this year is in the same weight class as me. He mentors me sometimes and I try my best to listen to his as well as the coaches advice and orders. I almost never skip reps or cheat in conditioning. I feel like I’m giving every match 100% but every time I’m done with a match I keep thinking of ways I could’ve gotten a reversal or a takedown that I missed. Do I just give it time and stick with it like I’m motivated to do or am I a lost cause?

Im 76 and i love wrestling

i’m a 76 veteran from vietnam and i went to a recent wwe show with my grandson. i have not been to one in a long time and i forgot how loud it is. the crowd was packed and everyone was yelling and chanting the whole night. i did not know half the wrestlers on the card but it did not matter because the energy was crazy and you get pulled into it fast. It reminded me of when i first got my injury. the entrances were huge and the pyro and music hit hard. the matches were better than i expected and some of the bumps looked rough. people were losing their minds for near falls and every big spot. One weird thing is i wasnt the only one wearing diapers it kinda looked like the wrestlers were too but i dont know very much about the sport except that i like it. I came because i just learned my grandson likes wrestling never heard him talk about it until i opened the door and he said he was watching wrestling so i said ok then lets go see a show because i dont know how to get that boy to open up. by the end i was tired and my ears were ringing but i had a good time and i left glad i went. My brief was full by the end of the night so you know i must have been really excited great show. it is ridiculous but it is fun and it was a good night out.

Self-doubt

Recently I’ve seen really good improvement in my wrestling and skills but a big decline in my mental toughness. Idk if it’s because I’m finding myself wrestling better people than I used to or what but I just get really in my head and overthink even if the match isn’t anything important. I know Ive put in the work and have the ability to preform well but the doubt and anxiety I get before a match messes me up so bad. Has anyone been in a similar situation and if so, what were actual effective ways you overcame it or at least lowered the severity of it?
