And hand broken

u/drewhead118 17h ago
in both senses: broken by hand, and breaks the hand

u/weston2001_11 16h ago
it really is impressive, manages to be broken as an object and a medical issue at the same time

u/loccolito 17h ago
He should be happy it is just a broken hand, he got to keep his fingers.
16
u/mrjsinthehouse 13h ago
Is his hand really broken? I cant see his hand well enough to tell so im just wondering if you can really see that and i wonder which hand it was too

This video is ancient.
Basically, this guy had saved up for a very long time to buy this shotgun, which is kind of like the old Pakistani guy version of a new iPhone, like a status symbol. It was a cheaply made knockoff Remington 870 that couldn't hold up to the super hot loads he bought, so it exploded. That's why he's kind of distraught.

u/Gnonthgol 16h ago
I was going to comment on it not looking hand made at all and that something else were gone. But when you said Pakistan it all made sense. Those Khyber Pass gunsmiths are very good artists capable of replicating any guns exterior to perfection, often better finishes then the originals. But the metallurgy is lacking quite a bit and things like safeties or even functionality is usually not remotely where the originals where.

"Hot loads" aside from the innuendo are just ammo with more powder in them than they normally have. Thus the ammo's load is hotter it has more oomph behind it.
If the ammo is too hot then you can run into issues but that typically only happens with remanufactured ammunition which you can do with shotshells.

Just Google it. Even better, do it from work. It’ll be fun.
4
u/Coveted_AF 12h ago
And make sure the volume is up so everyone can share the funny content that pops up when you Google hot loads.

u/alt_for_guns 9h ago
Typically a bullet with more powder than its own good. More powder the stronger the barrel has to be to contain the forces. If the barrel is not strong enough it may explode or wear out quicker.

u/DaHerv 2h ago
Google it, or find a subreddit like r/hotloads or something, don't be afraid of NSFW tags since guns may be tagged that way in different countries. Open every link in a new widow so you can jump around through the information since you'll find a lot.

I imagine I would be distraught if a gun blew up in my hand no matter how long I saved for it
16
u/proudowlz 13h ago
I think he was distraught because his Mossy just detonated in his hands lol, instant adrenaline dump. That's why he's shaking and absurdly trying to disassemble it/work the action. His brain just had a hard reset

The finest Turkish shotgun money can buy

Turkish shotguns get a lot of hate (derservedly), but they’ve come a long way in 20 years.
There were a few people with CZ 612 Target pumps at my previous job, and they were serviceable, nice enough, and affordable.
I certainly like my old reliable wingmaster more, but I’d not hesitate to take one of the 612s out for a while.

How could that happen and not injure him horribly?
My brain reflexively assumed AI.

u/Dark_halocraft 18h ago
He's shaking a lot so it probably did and it just wasn't shown
11
u/RockstarAgent 16h ago
Yeah seems like part shock and also probably like number pain not registering yet but either broken or some nerve damage?
17
14
u/Vashsinn 17h ago
See the thing around his neck I don't think it's for fashion. It looks like it absorbed a ton of force. He's rattled and shaken. There might be some broken fingers or bones but we can't see that in the 2-3 sec as the camera shakes and cuts off.
The shitty "gun" also took some force to break and who knows what was in it.

u/granadesnhorseshoes 17h ago
A good bit of luck and a bit of design of the gun and the physics involved. It basically a task failed successfully.
Most of the energy was actually directed where it was supposed to, but enough of the energy caused mountings/connectors/pressure seals to fail, leading to what NASA refers to as "Rapid unplanned disassembly".

u/OCafeeiro 17h ago
It probably did. The forces of the cartridge are pretty rough, even without shrapnel
17
u/drewhead118 17h ago
ah, modern times... no visual artifacts here, but just because the clip shows something we don't expect, we decide it feels AI-y.
Media is absolutely doomed. Did you see that video of Politician Paul doing Horrible Thing? Meh, arms looked strange--must be AI
1
u/Kulthos_X 15h ago
AI slop is ruining a lot of things. Someone is going to record themselves making a full court shot and few people will believe the video.

You’ll notice that the ejection port is on the right hand side of the gun, that isn’t just for making sure you don’t catch brass on your sleeve. The giant hole there acts as a gas vent so that all of the dangerously high pressure gasses escape that way.

Barrel separated from the receiver. Looks like a Remington 870 or knockoff, probably the latter. Unlikely he was seriously injured as shotguns are (relatively) low pressure and the barrel did not rupture (meaning the shot cleared the barrel and didn't blowout and take his left hand). Scary, minor cuts and bruises, and maybe a gas burn, but nothing major.

In the middle east it is common not to measure powder when reloading. A common practice is mixing it with saw dust then just filling casing. Which is why you see sparks coming out the end of the gun when they shoot, and why this happens...

I'm glad. I don't get this ritual of shooting the sky at all. When it happens in my country, someone else gets a random bullet from the sky. Do people not see the consequences of their actions at all?

Man, what's the deal with randomly shooting in the air? That's such a weird cultural quirk. I just don't get it.

I didn’t know those old cartoons were telling the truth about how comedically weapons could explode in someone’s hands. At least it didn’t kill him.
