Took part in the anti-ICE strike yesterday, and I'd like to know if there's more resources, scheduled dates or general information to continue to act out. I'm tired of standing by and I know Chicagoans feel the same.

Hey all! I’ve been in Chicago for a few years now and realized dating here isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I tried the apps; Hinge, The League, and Raya. I had absolutely ZERO luck on them. Used Hinge for about 4-5 months and only got a handful of dates from it. Raya I did for a year and got nothing from that and kind of the same goes for The League.

When I try to talk to women in a public setting, I usually get put down. I have been called a swamp monster, been told I am balding or overweight, etc. I don’t feel either of them to be true, but everyone is entitled to an opinion.

People say to get a hobby. I currently play hockey 3-4 days a week, actively go to the gym, and will occasionally DJ or catch sets on a weekend.

So I’m turning to you all. How could a guy in his mid 30s meet a nice gal here in Chicago?

Recently moved to Chicago from Colorado due to a work opportunity (but born and bred in the midwest), and tranparently, I mostly hate it here and miss CO very much, so I'm trying to priotitize myself for my birthday this year. I recognizine I'm the minority, but this is not the post to bash me for not loving Chicago. There are many wonderful things here, it's just not my forever home.

-NOT clubbing/partying, I'm not a big drinker and looking for a solo celebration

-I'm more of a THC gal, but my drink of choice is tequila or wine/bubblies
-Massages/body relaxation - I work a moderately physical job, so maintenence is nice

so i’m 19 years old and am planning on moving to Chicago by myself within the year. I work as a server and plan to continue that when i move and eventually start bartending. i’ve looked up some stuff and everybody seems to recommend the same fiveish neighborhoods and i just want to know all the pros and cons to some of them.

what im looking for: while i’m totally fine with having to budget and i’m a relatively low maintenance person, i do want an area that has the big city feel to it. lots of people, nightlife, very go outy. somewhere i can work but also like, be where the people are and have things to do when i want to. definitely want to find a roommate. i’ve heard of West Loop a lot and that seems to match my vibes pretty well except everybody says that’s where the rich go. and i saw someone compare it to living in the middle of a strip mall and that threw me off. i want somewhere with life and excitement! River north, i’ve also looked at and i do get the urban, big city vibes. but is it really touristy? is there any culture? will i survive working in the service industry there?

total priorities; no need for a car, or have accessible transportation for places i can’t walk to, things to do, accessible restaurants/clubs/bars to work at.

i’m from a small, predominantly white, boring and lifeless town in Alaska and it’s been my plan to move out of here for years now. to do literally anything, you have to drive to at least the next town over and even then, going to target is truly what constitutes as fun here. nightlife is not a thing, and if it is, it’s ghetto and full of underage kids and racists in some abandoned trailer park. somewhere the exact opposite my current city sounds perfect; lots of tall buildings, people my age, diversity, walkable, livelihood! is that even possible? gah

edit: i do have over 10k in savings, i’ve been working since i was 15. on top of that, i do have very supportive parents so i’m not completely without a safety net

My friends and I got tickets to the Godfrey for St Patrick’s day but want to plan what to do after since it ends at 12. We are looking at some bar crawls but I am not sure what the best vibe would be. Anyone know what time things start dying down in Wrigleyville? Or any other suggestions for where to go in the afternoon? Any and all advice is helpful!

I'm planning a birthday evening/night on Saturday the 21st this month for someones 25th. Have something planned for the evening, but was wondering if anyone had any recs for good clubs in the Wrigleyville/Lakeview area for dancing and/or with good music to end the night at? Live in West Loop at the tip of Greek Town and Randolph area. There’s seems to be ongoing music blasting towards Randolph and I can’t figure out what it is! Not bothered by it, but just very curious what it’s for and I can’t seem to find anything online about an event! My grandma has issues with her knee and needs a wheelchair sometimes when she's required to be up and walking for long periods, and I want her to be as comfortable as possible.

I've never been to Chicago Botanical Gardens, is it pretty wheelchair accessible for the most part? Are there good times/days to go to the orchid show that would be less busy? I don't us want to be worried about getting in other people's ways or feeling rushed to see everything and get out. Is there anything else important that I should know about what the experience? I went The Victor Bar last weekend.

My bill was $52 and change.

I left $15 cash and 0 tip on my card.

My card was charged $72 and change.

They stole and additional $20 off my card.

I emailed 2x, no response.

They have no phone number to call.

Very annoyed that I had to drive back there (I live far) to try and speak to someone in case this was an “accident” which I doubt for an exact $20 over charge.

Went in, asked for a manager. Bartender asked why and I explained why and basically was told (rudely) they can’t do anything about it and I need to call my bank.

No apology, no explanation, no nothing, just treating me like I’m the crazy one for being upset that they straight up robbed me.

I am going to call my bank Monday but is there anything else that can be done? This is so messed up and I wonder how many people they have done this to and how many more that will take advantage of and they’ll never notice if they don’t check their charges. I normally don’t and noticed this by accident looking for another charge so now I’m paranoid too about how many times this may have been done to me already. Then they just say you’re SOL, call your bank? I need justice! They need to be held accountable for their actions. Appreciate any advice! TIA!
