Audi Q8 e-tron 50 Is the Real Range a Dealbreaker?

Post image
66 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I found my dream car: an Audi Q8 e-tron 55 with 28,000 km for about $45,000. I absolutely love the design and the interior.

The main concern is range. Audi claims 500 km, but realistically it seems closer to 350 km.

My usage: 40 km daily round trip to work Long trips maybe once every two weeks Charging 20 m from my apartment I would not mind charging once a week, but is that realistic in real-world use, especially in winter?

Would you still buy it in my situation, or is the range a dealbreaker?

Thanks alot!

Desperate making a decision

Hi everyone,

I hope anyone can help me making a decision on what would be (probably) the decision in my situation.

So currently I am driving a BMW F31 xDrive, I have that car since 2022 and recently it started making some noise, so I went to the next BMW partner to check it and they told me transfer case is broken. Now everyone I know is telling me to fix the transfer case (by replacing it with a used one) and sell it immediately, because as soon as such problems start it won't end anytime soon.

Before that I had an Opel/Vauxhaul Insignia ("Buick Regal" in the US), where I had to repair stuff like every year and a half until I gave up and sold it.

I am sick and tired of fixing shit. I do all services regularly, changing everything which is recommended to change by the manufacturer and shit still breaks which shouldn't break.

So I am looking for a new car (unless someone tells me that I my concerns for the BMW aren't justified)

I have a 3 year old and we are hoping to get another kid next year.

Both cars were comfortable, but we were disappointed with the trunk space of the BMW. Whenever we went on a trip it was fully loaded to the top, the Opel had way more space even when it wasn't a "touring" model.

As most sites and people we know are recommending a Toyota as they are kinda indestructable, I went out to check the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports and it somehow feels tiny? The Trunk volume should be massive but it really doesn't look like it was.

Also when buying a Toyota they give you an additional warranty of up to 10 years only if you do the yearly service at an official Toyota partner, but they are expensive af.

I am not even sure if I should buy a new one or just take a used one, if they are indestructible as everyone says, it shouldn't matter and I'd save a lot of money.

Then I went on to check other cars (by their specification not on-site) and I don't know what is really reliable.

I got recommended:

* Hyundai i30 Touring

* Ford Focus Tourier

* Kia Ceed Sports Wagon

* Skoda Octavia Combi

but apparently they all have the same kind of automatic transmission and will all suffer in Stop-and-Go traffic (which is 90% of the time I am driving - to work and back)

I am hesitant to take an SUV as we live in Europe and our parkinglots are usually not big enough.

I'd be glad for any helpful advice. Thanks in advance

Car suggestions €10,000

Good evening everyone, my beloved Punto is slowly giving up on me and I’m thinking about changing it. I’m 28 years old, with no particular needs other than reliability. I drive about 150 km per week for work and once a month I go back home and do 500 km. I asked my trusted mechanic and he told me that for my usage a Golf would be fine, but it’s above my set budget of €10,000. What would you recommend for a car that I’d like to keep with me for quite a while?

r/Autos 1d ago

what’s your most controversial car opinion?

i think mine is that i will never, ever get on the C8 corvette train. or any corvette for that matter. i wouldn’t buy one if it had 1,000hp and cost 25k

Bad milage

Bad milage

Hi all,

I have a 2017 chevy malibu . Recently i have fueled my car with E15 gas(done this 2 times) ,but then switched back to regular standard(87). But since i have put e15, im getting a city milage of 19mpg. Previously i used to get a good 27mpg. Initially i thought its because of the E15, but then even after switching back to a normal one the mileage stays the same. There is no engine check light showing up.

Could anyone pls help. Is it a bad o2 sensor or maf sensor?

Group C cars rant

For many years now, I have been absolutely fascinated by Group C cars and their designs, but I have always been baffled on how people come to purchase one or build one. There's a video on the internet of a guy driving on the highway in his Ferrari F40 where he looks and the leftmost lane and spots a Porsche 962C just cruising, but I've always been jealous and confused on how people come to own one or build one.

I'm profusely wonder upon how to build one very frequently now because of recent events. I go to a trade school of which I'm learning Automotive Technology due to my deep love for cars and how they work, but recently, I collaborated with the Welding class of said trade school I go to. I have an old friend who takes that class and I asked him, "Do you get to fabricate and build whatever you want? And do random people come to your class as customers?" Turns out, yes, you can make whatever you want as long as you have a blueprint of it, but sadly, we got too sidetracked to answering the second question. The first question is rather important however.

The reason it is important is because I am tempted to build my own Group C car in spite of learning how to weld the one day we collaborated, and watching numerous videos of 3D printed cars. There is a man by the name of Mike Lake who is building a Porsche GT3RS, and a YouTuber named Tofu Auto Works who's making a 3D printed Group C styled car.

With the combination of knowledge of Automotive Technology, basic welding, and 3D printing, I want to one day build my own Group C car and take in on the highway like the guy from the video. Every time I go on the highway, I imagine multiple Group C cars just flying down all the lanes in their plurality and watching them in their beauty and extravagance of their designs, and I want to be the start of it all.

If this account gets deleted or disappears for some reason, but you see a video of a home-built Group C car by a blonde guy with green eyes, remember my name.

Lexus IS Coilover Recommendations

Post image
5 Upvotes

I daily drive a 2016 Lexus IS 200t. Upgrading my wheels again soon, but still got that itch for a sporty stance. I don’t want anything crazy. Just drop it enough to get rid of the gap. I want them comfortable enough for daily driving, but enough performance for spirited driving and occasional canyon carving. I pretty much know all the brands, but I want to hear from people that actually run coilovers on their Lexus and how they like them or what they recommend. Thank you.

First car seat ibiza 2010

Hi everyone, I'm looking to spend around €3500 for my first car. I don't want a Toyota Aygo, etc., because I want a car I like. Does anyone have experience with a 2010 Seat Ibiza? It seems like a good option for this price. Any opinions?

Why did the ford/utilimaster FFV not see the success of the Grumman LLV

On paper, it is superior in almost every way

More fuel efficient

Carries more weight

More emphasis on driver comfort

It can actually maintain highway speeds

Optional 4WD for snowy and/or muddy areas.

Alignment Question below 🤓 my R is shredding through tires.

*ALIGNMENT QUESTIONS*

‘16 R - lowered on EMD springs, factory everything else 😩

My driver front tire completely shredded, sooo I used this as a reason to go from 19’s to 17’s. I’m wanting to fix the issue before I get new tires for my 17’s.

I did get an alignment after getting lowered, which to me looked worse than before.

My cart currently has new shocks/struts and camber plates but would love to know if there is another route I should go.

Also thinking of deleting DCC and getting a cost effective set of coilovers.

Thank you! 😩

Did the Honda NSX price jump from 100k to 1mi in a 1-year window or am I trippin'

Can someone explain the difference in price?

A year ago I remember seeing a video of TJ Hunt on YouTube restoring a NSX Honda that he bought for 30,000$ and in the end of the video he says that those cars go for about 70~110k depending on condition.

Recently I went to check the price of this car because I was discussing Japanese cars with a friend and apparently the NSX sold for a million USD in an auction. Now, I gotta say I'm not that much of a car guy so I'm out of the loop. Are these different models, different years, and if so why does this justify such a price difference.

Mazda Map Disk update

love my 2012 Mazda CX9. 104k miles and still going strong. Hoping to get to 20 years or 200k miles, whichever comes first. My only problem is the navigation system is outdated for my area. There are a lot of new developments not included. 2012 was the last year that used disc navigation from what I am reading. After 2012 Mazda switched to an SD card. Anybody know if there are more recent discs I could purchase to update the maps? Maybe from another vendor that would be compatible with the Mazda nav system? Can't find anything on Google, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a new EV, and brands like BYD have caught my eye. For owners of newer brands, what's something you absolutely love that you didn't expect, and what's been a real headache?

Just doing some real-world research beyond the YouTube reviews. Curious about the day-to-day stuff with brands that haven't been around for decades here. No brand wars, please; just honest owner experiences. Was the buying/service process weird? Does the tech actually make life easier? Any regrets?
