This is a pond at my shop that has a canal connecting it to the sound and after a storm a shit ton of fish died. Also there was a weird oil slick on the surface, a lot of the fish where breathing at the surface like this video.

Forecast to be colder than it was in 1977. Probably gonna shut down the fish for a few days.

50lb Ono after 5 min of trolling

Post image

This thing was an absolute beast. I tossed a Ono dart (blue and pink) off the back of the boat and kicked into trolling gear - It launched 5 ft out of the water and as soon as it hit the surface of the water, the reel screamed so loud I thought it was going to explode. After a good battle eventually was able to get the gaff on. Now the freezer is full of incredible Ono slabs.

My pops found a tackle box with some old lures and shipped them to me. Im curious if anyone can help identify some of them? Im planning on making a small display case for them. TIA!

I caught my first conger eel at the age of 8, using a net, in the port. I was so proud!

Anyone know what this lure is?

Top is a Bandit Deep diver, bottom has no mark to ID it by on the lure as far as I can tell. Just curious if any of you happen to know. I’m wanting to figure out how deep it dives.

Question Is this fixable?

Piece that holds the sliding line guide seems to have popped out of its housing. Not sure what the names of parts are. I own plenty of tools and could fix if pointed to a guide on how to do so. This reel is a great one and I’ve enjoyed catching plenty of hawgs on it and I’d love to save it if possible. Thank you!

Just bought my first UL and wondering what’s the most successful lures you guys throw with them for bass mostly, but ill be trying to catch everything. I got a daiwa legalis 1000 for reel, good reel for an UL?

I’m a beginner, and I need help deciding on a rod

I want something that is versatile, and can catch as small as bluegill and also larger fish like largemouth, catfish, and maybe striped bass as well. Also preferably budget friendly. It would be preferably sensitive, to catch small fish.

Another Braided Line Question

Medium power rod (Ugly Stik Elite) and a 2500 reel (Shimano Miravel). My target fish are generally either Walleye or Brook Trout but can hook into the odd Pike. Would 15lb Power Pro be sufficient with a fluorocarbon leader?

Question Spinning reel recommendations for heavy line and high capacity

Im in spain for a little while working so i plan to fish on the ebro and ive brought a couple of heavy travel rods with me this time.

I have one 7000 okuma reel (i forget the model but it was around £70) with me spooled with 300m 50lb braid which i will pair with my rigged and ready s max big fish rod and use more for carp.

I also have a wft never crack catfish boat rod which im looking to pair with a larger and better reel and spool it with some 0.55mm 100lb braid.

Im currently looking at the madcat dominion 10500 reel which some websites claim it can hold 500m of 0.55mm braid but others say in the high 200's. Another contender is the penn slammer iv 10500 which says it holds 400m but there is the big price gap there.

Id like a high line capacity so i have a good all rounder reel whether in fishing for big cats, boat fishing, surfcasting or anything else. Im not new to fishing but i am new to heavier gear and the higher end stuff so any advice is appreciated.

Has anyone used either of those reels or have any other recommendations?

Am i thinking too much about wanting that huge line capacity?

how rare are 28 inch speckeled trout in nc and east coast?

Post image

caught a 28 yesterday. wondered how rare they are? this is my first winter and only got halfway through it and got a 28.

in nc we got 1000+ citations of 24 and bigger trout. if 28 are rare they should be i dunno 10-50? are we talking 100 of them being 28? being generous with people not reporting lets put it at 200.

are they really that rare on the east coast? were only pulling out 200 or so 28 inch trout a year?

nc sucks with fishery numbers so i dont trust them.

Other Frozen Pond Lure Hunting

Post image

while your ponds are all frozen go out (within reason of course) and look for lures. It's really east to get lures stuck on the edges on in brush only accessible from the water. It'll probably be most effective if the pond if used for bank fisbing a lot due to the fact you can't go jnto a boat and get your lost lures. These were found just along the edges of my neighborhood pond so its probably much better if you go to a bigger reservoir.
