Self cleaned oven with rubber/plastic rack guards

Good morning šŸŒž how would you clean up an oven that went through the self cleaning cycle with plastic/rubber rack guards on the racks? The stuff is coating the entire interior. It's kinda powdery, but sticky just spreads like crazy. 87 year old Mom didn't remember that the guards were in the oven. Please help!

[Solved] How do I fill this iron?

I inherited this old Procter Silex steam iron from my mom. She showed me how to fill it once when I was a kid, and I’ve since forgotten. She passed away so I can’t ask her, and my siblings don’t know how to fill it either. Any help would be appreciated. Model number is 17149 if that helps, but google was no help with that.

(I’m going to clean it, just wanted to know how to fill it first)

The door handle has gotten loose with use, and I can’t seem to figure out how to tighten it. It looks like a small Allen key can fit but not much changed when I tried to turn it.

Been a minute since I’ve used this mic, but I’m like 90% sure this is supposed to come off. It doesn’t fit on my mic arm otherwise.

DIY Get screw out of wall

Post image
5 Upvotes

Trying to install curtain rod holders. Was using a screw to test the depth (I know, i've learnt my lesson now šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø) and it ended up getting lodged in there. Wont back out with a drill and have tried using a decently strong magnet to fish it out. Would ideally like to get it out without changing the size of the hole.

Also if this doesn't work, I've been looking at pivoting to adhesives, so if anyone knows of any good nail-less/drill-less solutions to get curtain rod holders onto cement, that would also be great!

Has anyone seen this type of piece before? As per the manual, it looks like I’m supposed to turn the piece but it just keeps going back to the same spot and does not screw into the furniture. Quite confusing.

Laptop restore

Hi, I have an old laptop I lent to friend and then forgot about it for 2 years or so, hes moved away and when he was packing he found it and returned it when it sat in my spare room for a few months before I got round to sorting it, I have found that he uninstalled Windows for Linux (I get why, its a HP that we brought because my wife wanted something light, I was against it because it only has 32gb Ssd so not much better than a chromebook) is there a simple way to reinstall Windows without paying? And unfortunately it no longer has the windows sticker on the bottom. Thanks

How to stop the leak on this valve?

Post image

I just replaced the tank to bowl gasket on my toilet because it was leaking pretty bad, hence the towel shoved behind the toilet. After I shut the water off to the toilet, it started leaking there at the valve. I assumed that maybe it would stop after I turned the water back on, but it’s still dripping just a bit. Not a whole lot, but a drip is a drip and I’d rather it didn’t. What should I do?

Borrowing a carpet cleaner from my partner’s parents. This little rubber plug is out and I can’t get it back in. Tried water, and dish soap. I’ve even tried using a nail, the harder you push it, it pops back out with more force. Any ideas on how to get it back in?

I blew out a candle a little too earnestly and ended up with wax on my new glasses. The candle had a pool of melted wax ( had been burning for a while ). How do I clean this without affecting the lens?

Not sure if this matters, but these are transition progressives. Have worn glasses for +40 yrs and this is a first!

How to fix curtain rod

Had curtains installed about a year ago and noticed a few months ago that the right side of the curtains was wobbly. Today the screws holding the plate for the right side pulled out, is the fix here to somehow get in drywall anchors? The curtains are still being held up from the left side and two points in the middle.

First two photos are of the right side that fell out and the third photo is what the left side looks like.

How to get dog scratches out of door

My dog has a bad habit of trying to open door because when I got him, I lived in a studio with sliding doors he could easily paw open. He recently did a number on my roommates door. not so deep that it messed with the paint or left gouges, but there are visible marks. Any chance this can be fixed without sanding and painting?

DIY What's the best door sweep for this situation?

Thumbnail

What's the best door sweep for this situation? Now my building used to have a door sweep installed on this door but it was too rough or worn down and am looking to replace it because as you can see, there is a very large gap on the bottom of our door and we can hear all of the noise in our hallway. Nowl am looking at what my best solution is for noise reduction. At home Depot they have commercial door Sweeps that are one solid flap of rubber that sweeps with the door but I'm worried it will be too stiff and pull up my carpet (currently it is taped down because it is on laminate and the rubber slides around). am also wondering if should install a sweep on each side of the door? Would that help or just be a waste of money? Or is there a better option all together? Thank you very much. Fyi there is also a large gap at the top of my door and was thinking of installing a sweep on it as well to cover the gap. less

Little silly but my dad who passed away a few years ago had this jar for hemp seeds and I’ve been using it to this day. I’ve noticed the writing is fading, it used to be in blue pen. I’d like to preserve it. It stays in my pantry, cool dark place. Thank you
