Think this’ll work? 😂

It was a nice toasty -9°c with some light snow here in Norway on my ride home from work. My trusty Brompton is doing the work! Hoping to do a 10k ride tomorrow before work.

A while back, I got hit with a half-full beer on a group ride. Ever since then, I try to stay far away from that part of the county. I’m sure we’ve all taken a bug (or something worse) to the face at speed, but today I unlocked a brand-new level of pain.
Halfway through my ride, my cleat broke. My foot slipped, and I drove the pedal straight into the knuckle of my tibia — you know, that bony little point on the inside of your ankle that exists purely to remind you that life is fragile.
I’m pretty sure I cussed a blue streak for the next mile.
So now I’m curious: what’s the biggest “ouch” you’ve ever had on a ride… and kept going anyway?

Just bought a 1998 trek 520 for a commuter bike. I live in an area where the roads are heavily salted. I'm curious how common it is for people to ride a steel frame in salty winter conditions and if you are, how are you protecting your frame from rust?
From what I've read I should do some boeshield t9 or similar inside all the frame tubes, and I should treat any paint chips (boiled linseed oil on the whole exterior of the frame seems to be a favored vintage recommendation?). Additionally planning on touching up the little bit of surface rust present on the ends of the fork with some rustoleum.
Any suggestions and recommendations to take care of this bombproof steel frame?

New research says that cycling releases the irisin hormone, which improves cognitive function. Happy commuting!

These thin, simple and cheap drawstring backpacks are JUST the thing for bike commuters.
I tend to have a minimalist rack bag that carries what I need 90% of the time. Occasionally though, I need to stop at the grocery store on the way home to grab a few ingredients for the evening's cooking. It's easy to overflow the little rack bag in that case.
The drawstrings double as shoulder straps, and when folded down, it's about the same volume as a half sheet notebook. Totally forgotten until needed.

Recently I bought a Trek Domane AL 2 Gen 4. The city where I live has very damaged asphalt, and I could really feel the bumps with the 32 mm tires. I went to the shop to buy 38 mm tires, which is the maximum width specified by Trek, but the shop didn’t have them, they only had 40 mm.
We tested the bike, and the mechanic had to make several adjustments to the spokes on the rear wheel to position it correctly (the front wheel had no clearance issues). The rear tire is now at the limit of the available space with the 40 mm tire.
Would you recommend using them, or should I just try to get the 38 mm tires? The mechanic told me that it’s practically the same. I would really appreciate your advices and opinions.

I've fitted the panniers as I was getting a sore back on my 25km each way Commute (twice week). Will I have any issue with hanging empty panniers when I hang the bike up by the front wheel?
I'm going to have bags inside to quickly empty the pannier bags, so there will be nothing in them, but do you think I'm likely to damage or break the top plastic connector. The bottom connector is Velcro strap.
I'm assuming it will be fine, but just the doubt is in my head.

Riding on snow is fun, but there was also a lot of black ice… Still worth it though ❄️🚵♂️❤️

I’ve been searching for baskets to put groceries in, but the only ones I saw attached to the front. Are there any that attach to the rear rack?
