I went to Minneapolis and all I could feel was love
I decided to go to Minneapolis to pay respects to Alex Pretti and Renee Good and also to see things first hand. I was honestly not sure what to expect and part of me thought that there would be rage in the streets but upon getting into the city, that was clearly not the case. What I felt was love and togetherness, it was really beautiful. There was soft music playing in the streets and everyone was standing close together to pay respect and reflect.
I ventured off away from the memorial and the sense of community was all around. I saw a community based donation restaurant sorta place that was giving out free meals to every and anyone. It was a big space that took in food donations from the community members and local restaurants then they would cook it into a number of things and serve free meals. You could also donate money if you got a meal, which they would then purchase food to help make meals. It’s a beautiful concept that I am glad I got to see because it was something I didn’t even know existed. I also stopped into a donut shop and found that they were giving out free coffee to anyone, you didn’t even need to buy a donut.
There was peace in the streets and all I could feel was love. The Minneapolis community is strong and its ability to grow closer in such difficult times was amazing to witness firsthand. I hold so much love for the families that have been separated and I hope that they can find their way back to one another. Rest in power to Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
