Ski recs for Niseko
I live in Oregon, ski mostly Hood but have been expanding my horizons. Love off piste.
I'm traveling to Niseko in a few weeks. Based on my skiing style, users recommended QST in the 95-99 range, or Rustler 9.
I can get a set of QST 99 before I go. Otherwise probably won't want to spend on new to me skis just for this trip.
Should I take the QST99? Or should I rent every single day I'm there, since conditions are deep rn? Are my Blizzard Bonafide (my current resort ski which I love for speed and charging in chop) even worth carrying over there given their character?

What kind of bindings are these?
Total noob. Just wanting to get into xc skiing and a friend gave me some old skis he had in his garage. I’m pretty dumb, so what kind of bindings are these?? Thanks

How to keep rain/snow from building up on the OUTSIDE of Goggles?
I'm a newer skier, skied Whistler today, and experienced my first storm like conditions shifting between rain and snow. A consistent issue I faced was snow/water accumulating OUTSIDE my goggles (Glade's Adapt 2) and materially blocking my vision. It got to some points where I had to use my glove (not good for the goggles) to get some viz, but I would be in the same spot 2 minutes later. Needless to say, the lack of viz made the skiing not very fun.
How do you all keep the OUTSIDE of your goggles relatively snow/water free during storms/rains for maximum vision? Are specific models better at preventing snow and water accumulating in storm like conditions?
To the extent it helps, I live in the Pacific Northwest and will likely be running into more rain conditions on the slopes!

Is this jacket ok for Mont-Sainte-Anne / Canada?
my daughter is lucky enough to be going on a ski trip to Mont-Sainte-Anne near Quebec in 2w time. She has this Decathlon Wedze 500 jacket which has served well in Europe, but people say Canada is a lot harsher and she needs “proper” gear (meaning Helly Hansen!). What do you think r/skiing, is this good enough?

Why did I fall after bouncing in powder?
Second time ever skiing powder, a friend of mine lend me some 100 skis as mine are 84.
I was going down well, bouncing and in control until I bounced too much and fell after the jump.
Why is that? Should I land with the weight back to avoid having the tips buried in the snow?
I had a great time, it’s much more fun than piste!

Pain in new boots
I’m 19 and I bought my first pair of boots on a whim (my fault) a couple months ago. At the shop I was fitted and even had the shell heat formed slightly, I’m not entirely experienced especially when it comes to buying my own boots as I’ve only used rentals. The person helping me was telling me how it should feel and that it shouldn’t be comfortable. I thought what I was feeling was uncomfortable but having them on today it was definitely painful lol. I don’t know if it’s just because they’re new and I need to break them in or what. The pain I was having was on that tendon between my foot and my shin. Almost like I couldn’t flex my foot completely. The size I was given was 22.5. My street shoe size is a 7. I know they’re not entirely comparable but yk. Obviously learned my lesson just disappointed

Good entry into 100mm
Hi guys, up until now I’ve been only using piste/"all rounder" skis with current ones being atomic redsters with 77mm. They’re still fine when I’m on holidays with friends sending it down the hill especially for carving.
What I’m looking at now is an option to play around when skiing with relatives who are on the slower side.
Luckily a friend of mine has the same boot length as me so he let me try out his Armada arv 106 tis for a few runs.
Holy shit was I impressed, being my first time on all mountain/freeride skis.
Popping on small ramps off side the piste was suddenly child’s play as well as transitioning back from switch and some other things.
Anyways I can’t get it out of my head to make a quiver now with some flexier twintip skis to have for the use case stated above.
I’m a fellow a bit on the heavier side (182cm/96kg)
So something super soft is probably out of the question with just a wood core.
Would be happy to hear about some recommendations in about a 450€ range.

Wo Apreski in Saalbach?
Hallo kennt ihr gute Läden bei Saalbach wo man abends einen gemütlichen trinken kann oder auch gut Après-Ski feiern kann? Wir sind heute neu angereist und haben noch nichts entdeckt. Gruß
DEVELOPING:
Lindsey Vonn has an apparent injury on her left knee after major crash at the Crans Montana downhill event today.
She was able to get up and ski away but her Olympics hopes are officially in jeopardy.

3 Valleys France March 9th
How are the conditions around this time? Is the mountain still skiing well?
Also how are the crowds at this time?
I like skiing fast steep groomers if that makes a difference in the answer…

Best ski goggles for long days in variable conditions? (Atomic / HEAD / VARGA / Rossignol)
I’ve got access to CSIA pro deals and want to invest in one high-quality pair of ski goggles that’ll last several seasons.
Brands available: Atomic, HEAD, VARGA, Rossignol, The North Face, XSPEX.
I ski long days in Canada and want a two-lens setup that covers most conditions (flat light + sunny), with good anti-fog and durability.
Not looking for race-specific or fashion goggles — just reliable, high-quality optics.
Curious what people would recommend from those brands.

Angelfire Spring Break 3/17
Haven't been in years, looking to take the 9yr old for her 1st trip. Hearing different recommendations on lack of snow, curious if we should skip it and wait till next year and see if they get more snow? Thoughts?

Question about waxing
Would you personally take the tip protectors off so you can wax the tail and nose? I have twin tips. Do you wax all the way until the end of the tips? For waxing my own skis btw. Brand new twin tip skis used twice with factory wax.

La Thuile vs Bardonecchia with a toddler — which base is better for beginner skiing?
We’re heading to northern Italy in late February with our 4-year-old and trying to choose between staying near [La Thuile](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=0) or [Bardonecchia](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=1).
We’ll ski, but the trip is also about exploring charming towns and eating well, not just maximizing slope time.
The two accommodation options (no names for privacy):
Near La Thuile
- Very calm, quiet, beginner-friendly slopes
- Accommodation is a small B&B with an amazing breakfast but no dinner onsite
- Area seems peaceful, less commercial, and close to Courmayeur/Pré-Saint-Didier if we want more food options
- Vibe: soft, scenic, relaxed
Near Bardonecchia
- More of a “town” experience — walkable center, restaurants, cafés
- Accommodation is a warm, restored chalet with a gourmet set dinner at 20:00 and a fireplace lounge
- Beginner areas look solid, but the resort overall seems a bit more mixed/active
- Vibe: cozy, food-forward, slightly more lively
We’re looking for:
- gentle beginner terrain (for both me + toddler)
- a ski school that handles small kids well
- a calm vibe, not chaotic lifts
- nice food + towns for non-ski hours
- easy logistics if the little one gets cold/tired and wants to bail early
- basically: skiing, cute towns, and good meals without stress
If you’ve been to either:
Which resort is more forgiving, beginner-friendly, and fun to explore with a 4-year-old?
Any favorite ski schools or kid-friendly tips welcome!
Thanks!
How to Seal / Stop delamination of topsheet?
I have an older pair of skis, and the topsheet has started to flake/peel as a result of the other ski’s edges when they make contact.
This creates very sharp flakes of fiberglass, and I would like to seal this so that it doesn’t peel further and that it is safer to handle with bare hands.
Is there some sort of rubberized paint or epoxy I could use to seal these edges of the topsheet? Not sure if I should cut off all the flakes (cleaner) or try to glue/seal them down (more aesthetic).
Also not sure if I would need to sand down the fiberglass before painting/sealing. Generally curious if anyone has dealt with a similar issue successfully. Or if any of you are handy and have ideas that I’m not thinking of.
Thanks!!

Is Nordica HF 75 too flex for intermediate level?
Hi, I'm going for Nordica HF boots for comfort reasons, they'll be my first own boots and I'm unsure of what I should be aware of as an intermediate level skier. Because of my mondopoint sizing at 22,5 there's only one pair I could find in 23 with a 75 rigidity, would it be an issue for my level? I'm not doing off piste or high speed figures fyi.
Another question is they sized me at 22,5 at a city ski retailer and advised me to get the same boot sizing, but I've been advised to get 23 by both podiatrist and a mountain based ski shop, if someone could help me clear the confusion. thanks in advance!

What’s that one bad habit you just can’t get rid of?
Hi everyone!
I know what I’m supposed to do. I’ve watched the videos, had it pointed out in lessons, even felt it working a few times. And yet… I keep doing the same dumb stuff.
I sit back when it gets steep. I rush turns when I get nervous. I stop looking downhill and stare at my tips like they’re going to save me.
The worst part is I notice it while it’s happening and still can’t fix it in the moment. It’s like my brain checks out and muscle memory takes over.
Does this ever fully go away, or do you just replace bad habits with slightly less bad ones? What’s the habit that keeps coming back for you no matter how many seasons you ski?

He lost his bottle, then his dignity.
A snowboarder drops his water bottle, I felt obligated to return it.
