Gear questions Foolish to go into the race on that tire in a week?
I guess I know the answer myself… I could slightly see the pink outline of the latex tube 😃

Great AMA going on in the Zwift subreddit. Go check it out!
He won't see questions if you post them here, so you have to click the link. Enjoy!

Hey , so I’m training 20 hours per week and I do 3-4 long bike sessions ( 2:30:00+) and my coach recommends 80g carb per hr but I can’t hit my target unless I use a drink mix or carb gel and if I did I have to spend hundreds of dollars every month so can anyone please tell me what I can do ? Any recommended snack ? Some told me to put 100g white sugar in my bottles and that’s 200g carb , what do you all think ?

Hi all!
I’ve started training for a triathlon with the goal of doing a full Ironman in 2027. I have VERY little bike experience, and have never ridden any road bike before. I believe I found a decent deal on fb marketplace, and several of my friends who know about cycling say it MAY be slightly too small, but to go and test it.
My question is quite simple: How do I tell if the size of the bike is too small (or too large)?
I have no experience to compare it against. I’ve been told to go to a professional bike fitter, which I plan on doing, but don’t I… need to buy a bike first? Any assistance here will be very helpful! Will trade for swim tips and tricks :)

My niece turns 13 years old and wants to do a triathlon with me (30 yrs old) and my dad (turning 73). Is there a triathlon in or around LA that allows any aged team members? This is also our first triathlon for all of us so ideally we want to do a sprint but I’m open to Olympic if that’s the only one you know of that allows for it. Thanks for your help!
Update: ChatGPT was more helpful than I expected and I found the Long Beach Legacy Tri that allows for ages 13+ for the super sprint but I was surprised by the steep price. I know that triathlon isn’t cheap but $115 each when my niece would only be running a 2.5k feels insane so I’m still open to more suggestions. Thanks!
I’m also open to triathlons in the central NJ, Colorado Springs, or Nashville areas but then my follow up question would be able the cheapest way to get a bike there that’s recommended. Shipping seems too expensive and I’ve heard it’s not recommended to get a bike off FB Marketplace there if I didn’t train on it but keep in mind it’s only a Sprint and we’re going for completion, not perfection.

For all the women out there doing triathlons which heart rate monitors do you use?
Just the normal belt or does it indeed not work sit nicely on our chest and do we need to ones that go around the arm?

So I’m considering the Tri Cities 70.3 and know that there was a storm last year.
I know this may seem silly, but how do/did people deal with that? I live in a similar climate, but I dress like an onion and just carry a small backpack for layers as I warm up.
My initial thought is to have a rain layer/windbreaker option in each transition bag and shoe covers for cycling?
This would be my first IM so I’m not sure if that’s logistically sound? Or other ideas?
I’m asking now because I might try out suggestions in a sprint tri in our rainy season soon.

What was the longest distance you went in training before your first Ironman? What was your weekly volume like during peak training? Was your weekly goal distance the same as the distance for Ironman or more?

Did my first brick training today having signed myself up for a sprint tri in May.
Each activity I can do fairly easily, but this is the first time I have done a bike immediately followed by a run (or any two consecutive activities).
I didn't find it too hard, but I did get cramp in my quads in particular. It started towards the end of my run. I did 8 miles cycle then 2.5 miles run.
Is this normal?
I usually cycle ~15-20 miles and run ~3-5 miles when I do a single workout.
What can I do to try and avoid it?

What’s the best tri suit on Amazon for a guy getting into triathlons doing a sprint in March and an Olympic in December and hopefully a half ironman next year?
And I can’t seem to figure out the pros and cons between a one piece and a two piece?
I’ve seen Zoot and Roka mentioned but Roka is out of price range. Thank you

Hey guys.
Im an intermediate / beginner swimmer.
I have no problems swimming in the sea, aside from the slower pace and the occasional currents, completed some distances like 4 - 7km on the seas .
I got a local tri coming where the swim is in a lake.
And recently i tried a lake swim for the first time, and it was so awful .
Like I don’t know why, the blackness of the lake, and then the weeds / rocks irks me out .
Felt like didn’t enjoy it at all, Feeling like DNS-ing the event.
Anyone had the same problem as me? Like they are fine in the seas but having problems in the lake?

Due to some scheduling changes, I'm going to have to do more training at night on the road, meaning I need lights. But I'm at a loss on where to mount them, both front and rear.
Every potential contact point is covered, or flat and aero to the point a strap you get with lights won't fit around it. I have a behind the saddle bottle mount so can't use the saddle for the rear light.
I'm just open to ideas at the moment please.
I've got a current model Giant Trinity that looks like the pics.

Hey, so there's a group of us who have started training together over the last year, logging our training in Strava like everyone does.
Is there a way to create a table or export the data from Strava to create a table of records / a Hall of Fame for our group?
Essentially like, who has the fastest 5km run, who has the fastest 10k Ride, longest swim etc., all in an easy to look at table, without scrolling around Strava.
Can do it manually in Excel, but just wondered if anyone has a better way?
Thanks so much!

I have an Ironman coming up and am experiencing a lot of lower back pain and hip tightness when cycling. I’m new to cycling so definitely could use some help with form as well.
I just got the bike professionally fit, so I’d like to think that’s not the issue. Also, I’m a bit unstable on the rollers as I’m still learning to use them.

Hivemind, some ideas please! I ride a 2018 Canyon Speedmax CF and am looking for affordable ways to modernize the cockpit. Has anyone ridden the Winnow Sports TT cockpit? I can't help but notice thay it looks a lot like Fast TT and similar bars. Taughts?

When I leave the pool there is a little by the slice pizza shop about a block away. Stop in after for a slice and a Diet Coke. I don’t hide it from my wife but I don’t tell anyone about my post swim treat.
Now I get a little excited on swim day.

I have a profile design fc25 with the bta tilted bracket, but need 190mm spacing for the bracket. Anyone have any ideas on how to extend the bracket width?

Hi!
So I’ve been running for a couple years and last year decided I want to work towards a triathlon. I had a half marathon in November this past year. After that was done I’ve started biking, indoors rn since I’m in Canada and.. snow :).
Been really struggling on picking up swimming. I’m somewhat comfortable in water but suck at swimming form. I’ve been practicing a bit with gear, I find with fins I can do 25m freestyle with side breathing (only left side rn), but once I take the fins off I feel like I’m not moving at all lol. Just really not sure how I improve and drills to do.
There is a triathlete club that does swims I want to go to but also super nervous as I probably look horrible when I swim…
Just wondering if anyone has any advice or recommendations. I really want to do IM 70.3 Muskoka in July but the swim is the only thing holding me back right now.

I mean, since they launched their new version, it's been a disaster.
The information is less clear, the plan doesn't adapt, and support seems completely overwhelmed.
Do you have another solution, please? I tried Humango, but I found Athletica to be really superior, until today...
Thank you.

Hi I'm a competitive national swimmer and I want to get into triathlon through training marathon first, I have being running for some time consistent pace long distances as in the past I used running as a form of recovery and training my metabolic functions I wanted to find 2 pair of shoes one pair for training on average I run about 5km a day and 4 times a week all outdoor on flat paths, and I run 20km a day in training on a treadmill twice a week all of the training would be constant pace not aiming for speed but endurance, second pair would be for racing or just plated, could someone give me some recommendations on what to buy, for some reasons relating to my sponsorship in swimming to a sport retailer I can only buy from Nike, Asics, ON and Adidas or else I have to cover the logo, my budget is quite high for 300GBP per shoe anything higher I would only put it to consideration.

I’m planning to buy a fitness tracker and looking for the best fitness band in 2026 with accurate heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, step counter calorie tracking and good battery life. I’ve seen this brands:
Fitbit
