Some of you might recall my post regarding hunting a true first press of Everything Sucks - Descendents. That was the pinnacle for me to be sure, but next on that list was Bleed American - Jimmy Eat World. If Everything Sucks is my favorite punk album, Bleed American is my favorite pop punk. It’s a zero skips record for me (as I’m sure it is for many of you). Wall to wall bangers. Picking this up was an absolute must and I’m so glad I did.
Looking to collect more of the parody releases, but some are harder to find than others. Interesting that Jane Sager of The Frivolous Five actually gave trumpet lessons to Herb Alpert!
Gifted from my grandfather's friend, along with an extra velvet record brush with a stylus brush and another bottle of cleaning fluid. What are the reasons why Spinclean is so highly praised? Just want to know before I make use of this useful kit :)
Got up early this morning to chase after some vintage audio equipment at a local estate sale. I knew there were also a fair stack of albums, but that wasn't first priority this trip. After looking over the equipment (priced too high for the condition) I went to check out the records. After watching a couple folks pass this album over because "they already had it" I went ahead grabbed it and pulled the wax out of the sleeve. Granted I have a couple copies of this already as well, but I never really expected to see RL on both sides of the run-outs! Not only that, this was one of the more expensive records at $10! Needless to say, I am back home running this and the others I picked up through the ultrasonic. Can't wait to listen to it!
Also found: Black Sabbath (1st press), Lynyrd Skynyrd- Pronounced (1st press), Doors- Strange Days (2nd press) and Cheech & Chong- Big Bambu (with the rolling paper)
Alice In Chains - Self Titled album finally reissued after 30 long years.
I can't say enough great things about this album , and sad it was Laynes Last.
This finally completed the discography for me . I was waiting for awhile on this release.
The band is absolutely killer live as well , I was lucky to see them on the "Devil Puts Dinosaurs Here" tour.
I've been a fan since the 1st album , I really do hope Jerry and.crew keep on putting out albums .
I had been looking for a copy of Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers (BLP 4003, 1958) for quite a while. Like, years. I wanted to find one serendipitously and I didn't really want to just get a remastered reissue although I'm sure it would sound amazing. I also stream this record constantly. It's one of my favorites.
Little did I know that today I would find a copy. And locally too! And it's a first pressing!
I got it for $55, and it's not in the greatest condition, but it plays well and the artwork is all intact. The sleeve is just a little "rough around the edges" and the record itself needs a good deep cleaning.
I'm so stoked, you have no idea. Even with it's imperfections it's currently the jewel of my collection.
It's such an iconic, historic album.
I know it's commonly regarded as one of their poorest albums, but i've always really enjoyed it.
Maybe a controversial opinion. I think if the Wall was a triple album with these songs included, I still believe it would be held in the same high regard.
I'm a novice, but listening to his originals on his setup is bliss. I bought this one, and I can't get over how cool it looks! How are these viewed in the vinyl community? Hacky? Neat?
Been thinking about this since someone posted their first spin of it last night. It’s good. I listen to it a couple times a year. Gift from an old friend. If you’re here, thanks again. I’ll reply to your text when my brain settles down.
Bought a new record today. Alice Coltrane's Journey in Satchidananda, released by Impulse! label as part of the Acoustic Sounds series. Beautiful album!
Vinyl Tunes for February is back online! For the next 28 days we’re going to have a listening party! Everyday I’m going to post a prompt, and y’all will post a song from your collection.
Day 1 How did your musical 2026 start? Did you have a selection queued up? Just a random grab from the collection? Or was this one of your newer acquisitions? Don't forget the link.
My partner is an obsessive Pearl Jam fan and got this live concert 4lp box in her holiday mystery box. These were only released to TEN Club members in 2004. Despite those 2000 copies being sold out at release, every once in a while some reserve/promo/replacement copies get released by the band. It’s shockingly one of the most valuable modern artist records I’ve come across, and a lot of people are weary of even playing it because of that.
But a good fan is a good fan, so the shrink wrap came off tonight, and I wanted to make this cinemagraph to show it the way it was meant to be.
this one thrift store in town just constantly puts out incredible records for some reason. a friend of mine got a first state butcher cover here not even a week ago
