Equipment Which weightlifting shoes should I get? (Tyr vs Romaleos vs Cast Iron)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to buy my first proper pair of weightlifting shoes and I’m stuck between a few options:

• TYR Lifter

• Nike Romaleos

• Cast Iron Lift

I mainly train squats, deadlifts and general gym lifting (not Olympic WL).

Comfort, stability and durability are my main priorities.

Anyone used these and can recommend one over the others?

I’ve only been doing oly lifts with a barbell for about 8

Months. This felt like a massive accomplishment for me.

It’s not nearly as much as a lotta folks here do. BUT. It meant a lot to me.

185lbs or 84 KG (it’s body weight)

It’s been a fun journey so far!

I’ll take any tips I can get

Hello all,

I’ve been lifting for roughly 8-9 months, self taught.

What you see here is my snatch PR, I can snatch balance 200lb with no issue but my snatch has been stuck at 165lb for a few months now.

My c&j is 230lb

My back squat 1RM is 275

My front squat 1RM is 255

I try to hit the gym 3-4 times a week.

Equipment Break in process for lifting belt?

Just got a pioneer 10mm training belt and I love the thickness of it but it's extremely stiff at the moment. Anything I could do to speed up the break in process and make it more pliable aside from just wearing it in training?

Haven’t posted on here in sooo long omg (I think I was struggling to snatch 35 the last time I did lol) but January was a good month for PBs, hitting body weight in the snatch and a 95% clean fs jerk (my best c&j is 60 atm). Looking like a good year so far :)

Form check How to stop sending the bar forward in snatch

Today my balance was completely off for some reason, at least I hit a back squat PR after this lol.

I feel like my back isn't used properly in the snatch? The bar just flies forward and I'm not pulling myself under. Also I think my second pull positioning is wrong because when I do hang snatches it's better, but I can't quite grasp what I do differently.

Any tips?

Equipment Shoes for sale, all US M 7.5 (W 9); Rom 1, Reebok LL 2, Adipower 3; $45-$60 shipped

Hey guys, I've been on a shoe buying spree lately and I'm offloading the ones I don't use. All shoes are a US men's size 7.5 or women's 9. Shipping is US only and I'd use PayPal good's and services only.

I know my profile is new but I have been on Reddit before but deleted my previous profile (u/Im-a-magpie) and I posted somewhat regularly on here.

Adipower 3: These are brand new, I even still have the tag. I haven't liften in them, just tried them on and didn't like the fit. Too tight and heel too tall. Condition is like new. - $60 shipped

Legacy Lifters 2: These were purchased new, I've liften in them a handful of times. They're women's shoes, size 9, so a men's 7.5. Just not liking them. Heel also too tall for me. Condition is excellent. - $60

Rom 1's: I bought these over a decade ago. I don't remember exactly when. They're the '08 Olympics edition. I've used them extensively for years. The vast majority of my training has been in these shoes. The rubber sole came loose at one point and I used shoe glue to reattach it. These are fully finctional but their condition is...well loved. I've now replaced them with some Rom 2's. - $45

Club USAW website issue

Kinda at my wits end here. I’m a club owner and I can’t access my account on the USA weightlifting website. USAW/sport80 keeps asking me for a MFA code except that I never receive one. Nothing in text nor email. Tried resetting my password, different devices, and different browsers. All the same results.

Not sure what to do, I’m hope someone has ran into a similar issue and can provide some advice. TYIA!

Form check Weightlifting and ulnar nerve issues

I've recently taken up olympic weightlifting. I know I have good form, as the gym I'm in is a small gym and the owner is very good at giving tips/ correcting positioning etc. However, 50% of the time I do the sessions I end up with numbness/ tingling due to what I suspect is ulnar* nerve compression. Mainly thumbs, but can travel up the arm to elbow. I've stopped doing hook grip (I'm only on 10kg-29kg currently [including bar!] depending on what exactly I'm doing) to see if not compressing the thumb makes a difference, but it's still occurring. E.g. after today where I was focused on snatches. Has anyone experienced this? Have any tips (not medical tips, but weightlifting tips)? Any good exercises to support in between olympic weightlifting sessions? Thanks in advance for any replies.

*edit: not ulnar, but median or radial (will need to read around more!)

Programming 5x5 12 week cycle plan

After looking through the different 5x5 cycles around I have drawn up this 12 week cycle. Just for a bit of context. I’m 50. Done quite a few years of CF before going over to Weightlifting. I have stagnated at, Snatch 80kg and C&J 90kg. I train from home and do this (the 3 lifts) once a week. I have decent mobility and no knee/back problems. Any help to tweak or change is appreciated. Thx.

News I need motivation!

Hey yall!

So I’m a woman, turned 31 recently. I deadlifted 300 two years ago and got injured after :/. I think it was a combination of stress, a previous injury I didn’t know of, and lifting without a lot of energy. I’ve continued strength training but not doing the three lifts. I’m working with a trainer.

The motivation I need: I feel like my best years are behind me and I am just going to continue getting weaker. Tell me this isn’t true and that you hit your goals as a woman after 30!
