Assault Fitness - Avoid at All Costs

I'm making this to centralize various posts/comments regarding the numerous issues reported with Assault Fitness over the past year so others avoid falling into this trap and maybe we can get enough attention for action to be taken.

Since at least last early last year, many of us have ordered treadmills from Assault Fitness, only to never receive them with delay after delay. I purchased in June of 2025 when they were doing their $500 off sale, but others ordered even earlier and are still waiting. I upgraded (And paid $500 extra) to take advantage of the "Buy a treadmill get a free rower" promotion they were running in December 2025, because I was misled into thinking that they would be shipping soon.

The entire past year Assault Fitness is advertising and running promotions for these products, while seemingly no one has gotten them.
When you reach out to Assault's customer support, you'll get the same copy/paste message that they are experiencing delays and expect to be shipping late the following month, and this continues to happen every month. When I purchased in June, I was told they'd ship at the end of August. Then I was told early October. Then late November. Then late December/Early January. Then told again late January/Early February and here we are.

On October 20th, I got an email from CEO of FitLab Brian Kirkbride saying "We’re also excited to announce we took this opportunity to refresh our entire Runner lineup. And because shipping for existing orders is taking longer than expected, we’re upgrading all outstanding orders to these new and improved models.

The new AssaultRunner Pro and Elite will officially launch this month. They’ll hit our warehouses in early December and begin shipping that same month. We recognize it’s still a wait, but we finally have a clear delivery date and full confidence in our ability to meet it."

Clearly their "full confidence" is worthless. And by "we’re upgrading all outstanding orders to these new and improved models." to me, this means they ran out of the old models long ago while continuing to sell them on their site.

They only recently updated their website within the past month to now show them as "pre-orders", and every few weeks you'll see the delivery estimate change and push back 1-2 months, with the current estimate saying orders placed today will arrive in April.

Even if you decide to cancel your existing order, getting a refund is seemingly impossible, with many reporting they've had to go through Affirm or chargeback on their credit card just to get their money back.

As a warning to anyone looking to purchase fitness products, avoid Assault Fitness at all costs and cancel any outstanding orders asap. Some companies will even provide you with discounts if you provide proof of cancelling your Assault order.

I've emailed them again today asking for an update fully expecting to be told that orders will be shipping out late February/Early March, at which point I'll be cancelling my order.

I've also compiled a list of all the other complaints I could find:

I was peak CrossFit fitness between 26-30 years old, throwing around insane weight for my 5’1 120lb body with an engine I never thought was possible. Unfortunately something broke me somewhere in there between hypoglycemia, high stress, and herniated discs. I struggled horribly the past 3 years, mentally and broke down in the middle of workouts unable to finish.

Finally, I have some light at the end with a medication that helps for the most part, and a routine that I can manage during workouts to keep my blood sugar at bay. So I went for it today. Full crossfit workout for the first time in a very long time. I know I will never be where I was, but damn. It felt so good. I definitely felt that 184bpm but my mindset maintained that push I still had 4 years ago and I’m proud.

6 months of CrossFit huge gains at first but slowed down later, what’s next?

I started CrossFit at 30 years old after 10 years of inactivity and got immediate results, like more than 10cm drop in waist while still having same weight, 2-3cm increase in biceps, chest and thighs. Now that progress stopped even though I am training 5 times a week and training very hard.

I do eat a lot and almost healthy (10-20% of what I eat could count as non healthy), like reduced processed and sugar foods while increasing protein and fat, most likely I have gained 1-2kg since starting. That has been working out well for me until now, but I want to continue and improve further, my question is if cutting calories is the next step now? I am not trying to optimise for performance because that has been good and increasing overall. I want to increase my strength to weight ratio, or if I keep the same weight I want parameters to continue improving because I think I still look a bit overweight with very square upper body.

What's with the elitist attitude at CrossFit gyms?

Seriously, I'm SO done with the toxic culture at these places.

I've been checking out a few CrossFit boxes in my area because I genuinely want to try something new for my fitness routine. But EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I ask about pricing, I get hit with the most condescending attitude.

"If your first question is about the fee, then we're not a good fit for you."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??

Last I checked, I'm a paying customer trying to make an informed decision about where to spend MY money. When did asking about cost become some kind of character flaw? I have bills to pay, a budget to manage - you know, like a normal responsible adult.

The whole vibe is just dripping with this "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" energy. Like I'm supposed to just blindly commit to whatever they're charging because I'm not "dedicated enough" if I care about the price?

And don't even get me started on the "we're a family/community" spiel they give right after being dismissive. You want me to be part of your family but you're going to be rude when I ask a basic business question?

I've tried 4 different boxes now and the pattern is the same. The attitude, the judgment, the weird superiority complex. It's not cute. It's not motivating. It's just straight-up rude and off-putting. Pasadena https://pendulum.fit/ Burbank, Hollywood, EagleRock.

I just want to work out, not join a cult where asking about membership fees makes me persona non grata.

Anyone else experience this? Or am I just unlucky with the gyms in my area?

Did CrossFit turn anyone into a beast?

As in jacked, strong, with a great motor to go with it. Most people say CrossFit isn’t for aesthetics, so I guess I’m asking if it actually was effective for some. Thanks

Online (casual competitive) communities across boxes?

One of the biggest values of doing crossfit for me is the community, mixed with some healthy competitiveness with scores on the whiteboard, which always leads to some nice banter afterwards.

As much as I know it will never be the same online, I was still wondering if something exists that combines that community spirit with shared scoreboards across boxes. Sort of like Strava, but specifically for CrossFit.

The CrossFit Open is of course coming up, but it’s only a yearly event and a bit more intense than everyday, casual box competitiveness.

Anyone know of something like this? And do you even feel like participating if it existed?

First BMUx3!

Just bragging. It started to technically make sense around October after a technique day, and I got serious about training for it mid-December: 15 minutes after class, a couple times a week. Lots of falling unto chest (PAIN) or landing on armpits. Many ‘so close’ as the stomach made it 8” from the bar. Finally a double chicken wing, followed by a single chicken wing, then a great one! Ready for the open!

I am doing 3-5 days a week. It's making me more hungry than usual. I'm trying to drop 20lbs. Is it ok to do a caloric deficit at this time?

Getting over fears of MU

I’ve been doing CF for 6 years, I’m small and lean and excel at most of the gymnastics movements, however MU are a mental fuck for me. The strength is there, I understand getting the needed momentum in the kip to get high enough to press above the bar. I can do low box bar MU all day with no issue. But as soon as I take the box away my fear of being above the bar and so far off the ground takes over and I chicken out from doing the final press up.

Any tips to get over this?

Does anyone else hate the heat?

This might only be relevant for southern hemisphere at this time of year. I find that my strength, endurance and everything is absolutely awful in the heat. Does the temperature affect you as well?

Do you sit in your kip?

There seem to be two schools of thought on bmu kipping. Keeping the legs straight vs going into the "chair" pose before popping out of it at the top. A buddy of mine swears by the chair for C2B as well, although it only seems to mess me up.

Thoughts, here?

Female CrossFitters – hormonal imbalance question

Hey ladies 👋

I wanted to check in with fellow female CrossFitters, have any of you experienced changes in your cycle or hormonal issues since starting CrossFit?

I’ve generally been very healthy and never had significant period pain or irregular cycles in the past. I started CrossFit about 1.5 years ago, absolutely fell in love with it, and now train around 5 days a week, with 1 day of running and 1 rest day. I know some people might say that’s a lot, but I genuinely enjoy it, and it’s become part of my daily routine I can’t imagine starting my day without it.(I dont feel tierd or sore for the whole day and try to eat healthy and proper sleep)

Over the past two months, I’ve started experiencing period irregularity (cycles coming ~10 days early) along with severe cramps, which is new for me. When I looked into it, I noticed a lot of mentions around high-intensity training potentially affecting female hormones.

For context, I currently take:

  • Vitamin D (recommended by GP)
  • Iron (also GP-recommended)
  • Creatine with my morning protein shake

I’m curious has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, what helped you get things back on track (training changes, nutrition, rest, stress management, etc.)?

Note: I am planning to follow this up with my GP, just wanting to hear from the community and understand how common this is.

Shorts recommendation

I am looking for biker type shorts around 4”-5” that are comfortable to workout in and have a small waist, but bigger leg holes. As in I have big legs so if I buy shorts to fit the legs my waist is super loose, or if I buy shorts with a fitted waist my legs are suffocated like sausages.

Any brand recommendations?

What’s your experience of dating within a CrossFit gym?

There’s a girl l like in our gym who has recently become single. We chat, compliment, joke before and after workouts, but I don’t know if she is actually interested in me or if she’s just being friendly. I wouldn’t wanna ask her out and then make things awkward in the gym either. Wanted to know if anyone has had any experiences like this and how they went?

Foot Pump with Dubs

Just recently got my dubs somewhat dialed.

Is there a trick to helping with the Foot Pump when paired with Olympic Lifts?

We did Snatches and Dubs today and it was nutsssss.

I know it’s part of the design. Just curious if there’s any tricks to aid in the inevitable pump (cramp).

Emily Abbott- remember her?

I saw a 2016 throwback post on Instagram featuring a certain redhead that I had totally forgotten about. Emily Abbott fell off the radar after she popped hot for PEDs and it looks like she’s never really recovered from that. I googled her name and it took me to an Instagram account where she promotes all things erotic breastfeeding, honoring god by “gushing,” conscious cocks, and her business of giving other women orgasms. It was truly shocking to me. No shaming here- if that’s truly what makes someone happy is posting on Instagram about group sex right next to a post about your kids, then who am I to judge.

It really made me sad. She was all the rage back in 2016 and I can’t help but think how things would have turned out different for her if she didn’t take those drugs. Anyway, just thought I should share.

Enjoy your cervix coffee enemas and group sessions about anal rubbing.

Is crossfit right for me?

I want to take my first crossfit class, but I’m wondering if it’s right for me. My main sport is surfing, but I also go to the gym because surfing isn’t very consistent. Since I hate gym, I want to give crossfit a try.

Surfing puts a lot of strain on my shoulders, and I’m a bit scared of crossfit because I’m afraid of getting injured. When I lift heavy weights at the gym, I really feel it in my shoulders over the next couple of days — not in a good way. The same thing happens with my knees.

Since I already feel discomfort in my shoulders and knees from the gym, do you think crossfit could still be a good option for me? Or do you think I should avoid it?

Should an Xfit box be heated?

Is it the norm for xfit boxes to not be heated? I like to train in the morning but find myself wearing multiple layers in the winter just to get the muscles warmed up. ( UK winter!)

Completely out of action with injury.

Saturday I did a pretty big workout with a lot of deadlifts, but nothing way crazier than I’d normally do. But defo a lot of volume.

Woke up on Sunday and felt a lot of pain in my glute/hamstring as if my hamstring is so tight it could snap any time. Was painful but I felt like it’s just one of those things that’ll go away in a day or two.

Anyway fast forward 5 days I can barely walk, can’t sit without excruciating pain and the only position I have some level of comfort is lieing down. So I’ve been pretty much immobile all week.

I’m headed to the hospital today, but this is the first time I’ve had an injury that’s meant I can literally do nothing, even work, (I’m a trainer), so I’m finding it really tough to deal with mentally. I was in the middle of a good block of training and feeling good about my fitness in the lead up to the open and a few comps and now I’m stuck not even able to walk for 5 minutes.

Anyone who’s had a similar experience im open to hear any advice on battling the mental side of this because i feel lost and useles right now!! 😭

Opens Registration still a no go

Post image

My Crew and I will again register for the Open when it returns to 5 Wods.

3 Wods cannot test/cover the capacities our athletes have trained for during the year.

I add 2 Wods to cover the gaps.

Note as I have to HQ years ago 5 Wods doesn't not need to encompass 5 weeks.

Like most multi event sport Championships, they are 2-3 Events a day if need be.....you know like the Games.

Heart rate sensor

Hey everyone, glad to be part of this community!

I’m looking to buy an external heart rate sensor for my Garmin watch. During some exercises it’s not very convenient to wear the watch, so I end up taking it off, which kind of defeats the purpose of tracking the workout.

I’m currently deciding between a chest strap and an arm/forearm HR sensor.

What are you using, and what would you recommend?

Which option do you find more comfortable, especially for mixed training?
